There's never enough money for politicians. In the past for years, my electricity has almost tripled from 8 cents a kilowatt to 22 cents. And there are taxes on electricity too, did the "experts" consider that?

This argument is 100% BS! Ok, so EV owners don’t pay a gas tax because they don’t use gasoline for their vehicles. Ok. So where does the sales tax and yearly vehicle registration fees go?! I pay over $2k registrating my Tesla when I bought it used and another $500/yr! So where does that money go? $500/yr is way more than what I paid driving my 2001 Miata in registration and gas tax. California needs to be audited and quit squeezing residents for everything they have.

How does other states pay for their roads other than high gas tax. They say to keep the highways up and in the video they just showed you saw trash. If you ride HWY 680 going North around Danville I have seen the same mattress on the side of the road for months. Same glass on HWY 580 from crashed vehicles.

The fairest way to tax EV's is with a mileage tax the more you drive the more you pay. It would have to be worked out if you take your EV out of state on a trip how to deduct those miles from your tax. It works roughly the same way as the gas tax. with a gas tax the more you buy the more you pay, the more miles you drive the more gas you have to buy.

Congress just approved $886 billion dollars for their 2024 military budget. If California was a country, it would be the 5th largest economy in the world. In 2022, California represented over >14% of the total US economy. This is only $6 billion dollars. Where are the Californian tax dollars going to?!

I went to California once in2005. I went to San Diego. I crossed a bridge and asked my friends why the toll booths were closed. They told it was because they had payed for the bridge already. I was like they would never close a toll booth in NY! Looks like they will open them now! Lol!

More reasons to leave California.

Californians have an inalienable right to own a car and drive it as fast as it will go. All tax free, of course.

Add the tax for ev’s to the cost at the charging station or even specific EV registration . The real issue is mismanaging current taxes collected and using for other costs . The gov chose to forgo collecting tax on evs for driving on the roads to entice buyers . All along , should have been paying everytime they charge . Ones who charge at home , pay the tax on your registration . Ev’s are heavier than comparable size ice vehicles . Gov has to show the supposed loss to now say they are loosing out . Claim there is a 6 billion tax shortage . Divide it up between every EV owner and send a reassessment ( same as ca state does on property taxes ) . Oh but wait , greed is the way so they will just add yet another tax that everyone has to pay to drive on the roads we are already taxed to drive on . The roads will continue to be in poor repair . The additional tax won’t fix anything , will be used for something else as always .
