Just got back from driving through the Grapevine/Gorman. I can see the fire was carried by strong winds up there. So strong, my car would jolt if I went over 80mph while driving the 5 up there. The fires are still going and it’s Smokey in a secured area that you can see behind some hills. There are also small spots of fire that you can see from the Highway but both lanes on the 5 are open. It’s not near LA. In LA County, but not near LA.

Who else isn't even schocked. Prayers for everyone this is effecting.

We had a bunch of rain in southern CA this winter. Plants grew like crazy and are now tinder dry. Expect plenty of fires this summer.

Having a fire this big, this early in the "fire season" means there is no fuel here for future fires in this area, this year. So, it is a good thing. God bless the first responders to these fires. Be safe

Forty years ago, I trained as a Wildfire Fighter in the National Guard. Wildfires do not "explode" over night. In fact, natural fires lay down at night and reduce in ferocity. Fires come alive and flourish in the daylight. The radiation from the sun adds to fueling the fire. THESE FIRES ARE NOT NATURAL. These are plasma fires from directed energy weapons. The state of California is broke and needs the Federal Emergency money to fund the government. All the billions of $ they stole for the High Speed rail should have been used for wildfire mitigation. The powers that be want to burn people out and forbid them from rebuilding. This is deliberate and planned. Wake Up, these people want you, the common citizen, dead or burned out. People of California, you must fight to reclaim your state and don't believe anything the government tells you.

This is why you have controlled burns. The west coast hasn’t seemed to figure it out yet.

Told ya'l it wasn't thievery that someone removed as many fire hydrants as they could find.

I talked to folks who drove by the fire before it got very big and they said it started at an auto repair shop. The fires like this in California burn mostly grass and brush. Some of the chapparal actually release seeds when there is a fire.

Does anyone else find it ironic how this “bonfire” coincides with a 28 million $ fundraiser?

This would be less of an issue if it wasn't for the "green meanies" in the CA government who don't do enough (if anything at all) towards wilderness management! A well managed forest should have breaks in the forest, as well as proper access for firefighters and their equipment. Most of the fires requires lots of water which CA doesn't have. All sources are quickly either becoming depleted or are nearly empty. The old adage "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." [-Benjamin Franklin] can be applied in many of the circumstances we see today with the failing of governmental responsibilities to We the People! Their failures exist because of thinking themselves as either "experts" or hiring people who have no expertise at all because of DEI hiring practices! Such "career politicians" who support this form of irresponsibility should be removed from government, by force, if necessary! They, as "public servants" are not serving We the People as much as they are serving themselves to Power and perhaps even ill-gotten gain! They operate as a "gang" to cover each other by misdirecting blame to parties most often affiliated to those who aren't even in office! This type of "blame game" is the "slight of hand" that is so often used, and is becoming more and more visible to the public as time goes on. Hopefully, We the People in CA will rectify their situation come election time!

The Fire Captain did very well dealing with a reporter who clearly knows much less than the average SoCal native about the wind driven fires that are a Southern California hazard every single year.

Started at an automotive shop. Probably an electric vehicle... They start alot of fires.

My sister was nearby the fires working in the hospital. She is fine but angry at her managers because they would not evacuate the patients til the very last minute as they wete ignoring the signs that they need to evacuate for hours. Smole was covering the hospital and suffocating the patients. Thankfully they evacuated everyone and my sister but she is still angry of how time it took for evacuation.
