@@teapotone yes it is. I've done a few Hopp rider training days there & loads of BMW club days too with Robert Bensley as well as a Chris Walker hosted day & a few msv general trackdays. My fav sections? All of it but Charlies 1 & 2 then Chris curve are my best bits of the lot. The mountain is fun lofting the front wheel up off it on every lap. I also love Oulton Park which comes a close 2nd & I only live 40 mins from.
Afternoon Bruce, Slabside pilot here! I had no idea I was riding with a RU-vid Megastar...! Was great to meet you, hope your long ride home wasn't too taxing. Well done for capturing the footage at 5.45 of me nearly dropping the bike in the paddock, and apologies again for getting a bit close at 16.20 when coming round the outside at Chris Curve, not my intention I can assure you. Glad you had a great day, I certainly did! Ciao.
Ha Ha mate I loved that when you came around the outside, was impressive to see you ride that beast! Ha Ha I wasn’t sure if anyone would notice the paddock mishap 😬😂 Great to meet and chat with you too bud 👍
@@teapotone I've subscribed now, so I look forward to following more of you adventures. Don't be surprised if I tap you up for some camera advice too in the near future.....👍👍
Thought you rode really well round Cadwell park, probably the same as you I've had many bikes over nearly fifty years of riding, but the last two bikes I've owned have been the big GS's, current one being the 1250 GS adv and it never ceases to amaze me how well they handle, the comfort of like being on your favourite arm chair and the handling of a sports bike, brilliant...
Fair play to those tyres holding up to that much cornering and whilst not becoming stetchy, I wouldn't have thought a blocky tyre would take that much of a workout. The structured learning shows in yours and Lamb chops riding, not ragged instead just smooth and methodical. Although I've never been to them, I think a day with California school would prevent a lot of accidents you see at the Garden variety trackdays.
Great job! I have completed Levels 1 to 4 (4 several times) with the CSS (Ducati days) and watched loads of student videos...this is undoubtedly the best, most informative one I have seen. I reckon it will be responsible for encouraging many others to visit the school. Your Level 1 video is also useful (especially the bit about top box security 😉 😂), but this is much better. Looking forward to Level 3 and 4 videos - you will love those days!
I definitely need to add some race school time to my “to do list” not to go fast on the road because I am a very cautious rider, just to gain confidence in the event that I find a bend I have to lean into whilst riding new roads. I was impressed that you used the GS because I have a Tiger900 RallyPro so I would be wary of how far I could lean it over. Ian Back on Two Wheels
Great Bruce, on my home county circuit too. Done two IAM skill days at Croft on my GS, learnt loads for road use and don’t the old tractors handle those bends🤪
Glad to come along on your training. I'm interested in seeing if the innov system would be worthwhile. Certainly, when watching back track footage it's good since it shows you your current actual speed. There are definitely other times when that would not be desirable.
Toptastic vid…( sorry, just listening to Tony Blackburn), looks great fun. Did the Ron Haslem school a few years back, different teaching but still excellent. Really improved my road riding too…… looking forward to trying it out in the Canaries buddy😎🏍👌🏼
Cheers Neil, aye I did both levels of the Ron Haslam school too, really enjoyed it and really benefitted from having the tutor go through my telemetry too. Such a shame it’s gone now. Mate I can not wait for our trip to the Canaries, it’s going to be so good to get everyone back together again out there on those awesome roads 👏👏👏👍👍
Enjoyed that Bruce, More info on those Mutants please looking at changing my tyres soon on the GSA and the Mutants are on the list but not much info out there on them
Cheers Paul, Re the Mutants, I’ve had them on since Feb and done well over 6K miles on them, including track days at Brands and Cadwell, where they performed without any issues on the GS. I’ve ridden in temps down to -15 on a wintry run to Sth West Wales in Feb, and they performed well on the snow/icy backroads, as well as the slush-filled motorways. I’ve not tested them up in the beautiful Spanish mountains sadly, but the tyres were pushed hard on track so got nice and hot and showed no signs of slippage or excessive movement. I’d be happy to have them on again and am eager to see how the Meridians do in similar circumstances 👍
Well decided today to follow your lead and go for the Meridians instead of the Mutants. Will be interested to see what you think of them on the road. I will say it was made an easier choice as the Meridians were £30 cheaper than the Mutants. Off to Guildford from Sussex to get them fitted Friday hopefully.
Great vid again bruce I love cadwell just watched the superbikes at the weekend. My static caravan is 4 miles away from there never told the wife until after we bought it lol. How's filming going?
Looks much more relaxed with a slower build-up than the (Yamaha sponsored) one I did in France earlier this year on an extremely technical track (Ledenon). Clear indicators on your track with less (perhaps no?) emphasis on getting the knee down. I was quite put off racing after my course, but this one looks more like something I might enjoy.
Cheers Nick, When I did Level 1 I was scraping my knees everywhere but it actually slowed me down as I was concentrating on that rather than the technical aspects of my riding. This time I concentrated totally on trying to get the corners right and I don’t think I touched down at all tbh 🤷♂️👍
I want to get to that school, the closest to me is Virginia International Raceway about 3 hours away. Nice to see you get to ride 100+ without some sniveling safteycrat complaining about you riding too fast. It's a track, if you didn't' wreck, you didn't go to fast.
Ha Ha I’d love to race but lack two fundamental criteria: 1: I’m skint so couldn’t afford a set of tyres let alone a set each weekend. 2: the skill. I get eaten alive in the intermediate group on a track day so would be destroyed in a race 😂🤦♂️
Hey Bruce. I've noted your opinions on the mutants on wet/cold tar and trackdays/mountain roads. Did you get to test them out on dirt/gravel roads? I'd be interested in what you thought if you have had the opportunity.
It’s fairly pricey, but worth the money. circa £480 per level and that’s with your own bike. If you hire the z650 is another £450 on top. They are running payment plans where you can bulk buy a 2,3 or 4 levels and spread the cost up to 7 months
Bruce.....Revisting your CSS content. IAMRS bike ticket & skills day in back pocket. Have TOTR2 book & have seen movie. Open minded (despite job😉). Cant justify funds for CSS atm. Any level 4 footage due for upload ? Thanks
I would love to do this, I keep looking but always sold out which is just aswell as it is incredibly expensive 😅 how did the track affect your road tyres?
A super days riding from you there Bruce, well done, Caldwell is 40 miles from me, been on a couple of training days, super circuit. Having the K3 fitted soon, is the K5 worth the extra cash? Just got a pair of Mutants to go on my GS and looking forward to giving them a go, how’s the mileage stacking upon the Mutants , any wet rides with them ? As always stay safe and enjoy.
Hi Derek, personally I’d 100% recommend the K5 over the K3. Not only is the footage markedly better quality, but also the audio seems to be better, and the Wi-fi is much faster - meaning it works a lot better with the app. I’ve ridden the Mutants in all weathers no from -15 in the winter through to near on 30 degrees in our ‘summer’. I’ve ridden them in torrential rain and I don’t ha e a single complaint for them, even on the track they didn’t skip a beat - very impressed. Mileage-wise I’ve done about 5,000 miles on them so far and they probably have about 500 miles left in the rear I reckon. For the GS and for Road-Riding I’d still take the Dunlop Roadsmart 3’s over the Mutant though as I know they will take the punishment of being pushed hard in the Spanish mountains without any issue
@@teapotone Thanks Bruce, from your comment re Mutants, they will suit my riding style just right, not as quick as you ride, loving the R1250 motor also, Cheers
I’ve did level 1 earlier this year. Also had Martin as my tutor, he’s awesome. Got student of the day..... whoop whoop If anyone in the chat has also done this, have you found an insurer that gives you a discount on your road insurance?
@@teapotone Thanks for that Brucie - What I was trying to establish is, is it worth paying £450 per level to do the CSS if insurance companies don’t recognise to skill set learnt as a qualification
K5 all day long for me. The 4k front camera is head and shoulders above the K2/K3 camera, in fact I also think the 1080 rear camera of the K5 seems better than the K2/K3 strangely enough. The faster Wi-fi of the K5 just makes it so much easier to use with the app, and also the external mic of the K5 seems to produce better audio too
Bruce , how did you find the adventure helmet on track?I'm considering one ,either Shoei or Arai tour IV .Which Shoei is your lid? and is it noisy? Thanks ,John.. Amazing channel by tha way, honest reviews not like TMF who seems to be in the back pocket of the manufacturers , plus he can't ride. It's you and Lamb Chops for honest reviews .
Hi John, Thanks bud I’m glad you’re enjoying the content on here, that’s great to hear. Andy definitely isn’t in the back pocket bud, he just goes for more middle ground whereas I’ll just say it as I see it. I have the Shoei Hornet ADV and have never had any issues with them on track or at high speeds. I think if you have a neck that’s not a twig, you should be fine😉 It’s a bit louder than say the Xspirit III but not much, I’m lucky to have both and I wear the Adventure lid almost all the time. Cheers for now, Bruce
