Sparky is also looking a little bit less ribby, Jay C. Nehf. In my opinion anyway. I do hope it is just a worm load that your regular worm cycle isn't quite catching up with. Her appetite is good, so she should be packing on the pounds. Have you used an antibacterial/antifungal soap on her yet? With her having sensitive skin, that might help with the rash. Just a suggestion. Your Canuck friend, the Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
She hates to be in a stall..That's why her weight is the way it is today..She was down to 940lbs in this last race. The plan was not to bring her back to Santa Anita..Notice her performance at Ellis Park was by far her best! Why ? Because she got turned out everyday and of course Murphy is 2x the trainer Jay is.. Murphy would never employ a jockey that has never won at Santa Anita or Del Mar...Do you care about winning or just circling the oval..The culture here is not a winning culture but more of one that belongs at Bingo Parlour.
Thank you for such an in depth update on all 3 fillies. Looks like The Force is tired of the lay off and wants to get back to work! I hope to get back out there in a couple weeks to see you guys, especially now that Arizona racing has pretty much gone away :(
Thanks for the update Jay. I loved Arrogate, he was a absolute beast on the race track. Will be nice to have Arcangelo stabled close to you for a few days & see him up close.
Hello J... checking back in.... and being an old fart now, here's a little story on the best horse I ever raced.. (I hope this has some meaning or moral) Let's call her "Jet"... She was just turned four when I claimed her for 5k... (I liked her breeding... and I thought, well, if she don't do on the track, I'll just breed her and see what we get.. ) Anyway, Jet had made a little money as a two year old.. but didn't do much at three... When I got her, she had a huge open sore on her chest in front.. supposedly an infection which was caused by a bot fly... her coat was awful and she looked underfed.. AND, they were racing her, never getting a finish better than 7th across her charted lines... (people thought I was nuts!!) Well, she responded real well to some sulfa's, and in a matter of three or four weeks, she was picking right up, eating well, etc. So, after a good three months of turn out but jogging to keep her muscles fit.. I trained her right down and won a qualifier... then she got beat a nose in her first race back... (7500 claimer) and then won her next three races real easy.. She was a tough, tough mare.. knew her business... liked to leave out fast and get on top and said, "Catch me if you can"... and one more thing.... Jet loved a sloppy race track... just skimmed over it like she could walk on water... and she never lost once over a sloppy race track... *Man would we pray for rain* I retired her just before she turned seven... and she won her last three races just before that... the last one was a 15,000 claimer... So the gist of this is... sometimes a little r and r... is just the thing to make a filly or mare blossom and become a consistent winner... And I got a feeling, you just might be on the verge of something really special... and of course, wishing nothing but the best for you and yours..... rp
Glad to see these beautiful girls working out! Sparky is looking fabulous! Love her conformation! I think you have great plans for her! You're bringing out the best in her!❤
What are the plans for sparky ? Please share ..Plan to keep this jockey who has never won at this level is Not a good plan... Do you actually watch these races ? Or just wait until a nice youtube video comes out.. So far Mo Queen hasn't finished within 10 lengths of the leaders in any race and as long as this jockey is on then shes not even given a chance..
Very nice to know that you have a jockey on Wicked Desire and Mo queen that has never won..Wow! That's nice of you...As long as everybody is nice then all is ok..Forget about winning..Culture is as bad on this team as it possibly gets...And you are an enabler.. But keep sending Jay your money..
Poor Performance from Mo Queen yesterday..How many times is this jock going to go 4-5 WIDE into the clubhouse turn before he figures out that's not what you want to do..? Will somebody please tell Adrian Escobedo..If he quits taking Mo queen wide all the way around the track then we will finish closer to the lead because that's 2 times in a row..Also quit breaking out the whip in the stretch when you are 15 lengths off the lead and especially hitting her after the first five places have already crossed the line..He has to be on the outside in every race not just ours.Does anybody else here actually watch these races or just here to praise Jay? If anybody else is watching then I wouldn't be the only one saying anything. If I knew that this team didn't care if they win or lose then I would have never put my money here..We wouldn't employ the services of a jockey that has "never" won at this level if we wanted to win..Glad everybody here is ok with losing... Nobody but, myself brings up these FACTS ! The culture here is not a winning one and until that changes we will just keep losing. Remember you can't get to the winners circle unless you win and Ryan Curatolo is in Japan..That jockey knows how to win...
Thank you for the update. Glad to hear that Sparky is eating well. Loved the music and watching the horses found it very relaxing. My friends were so appreciative, got the pictures of you and Cynci. Thank you again!
Sparky is way to light. Need to get her on Cool Calories and get the weight back on her. Hip bones are sticking out like a sore thumb. And is she not eligible for a claiming 'waiver' on her first time back after that long of a layoff? Seems as though she should be, even if she's running for a tag.
What is your breeze/galloping program to get Wicked Desire’s bones back into racing condition since she hasn’t seen racing speeds in 3 weeks? Thank you for your content of your lovely horses. Excited to see Arcangelo.
