On 6th February this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, events and initiatives took place throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.
The four days of celebrations included public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.

What a spectacle the Platinum Jubilee was, fantastic all around! I've watched more since reacting to these highlights and all around very exciting and fun to watch. 👑 British or any other nationality, I would like to hear your thoughts on this historical event for Queen Elizabeth II. Favorite part? Most memorable? Made you cry or laugh with joy? Let me know! 🙂 Enjoy!

Charles is known for that when going and visiting parts of the country on behalf of his mother (she likes to visit parts of the country about every 6 years, or now did do) will go behind the railings to talk with people lol. Though during that is extremely rare.

Massive design flaw in your constitution not having a separate head of state and government. Both the US and the UK had massive political tidal waves of change and shake up, which coutry looks more united? If her majesty asked her subjects to fight tomorrow 99%, no I'll be generous, 98% would happily lay fown their life for Queen and country. For me she brings calm and ensures me that while we have a non-political Monarchy we will never (again) be ruled by a President, Dictator or Lord Protector. She has had 14 Prime Ministers serving under her; all of whom probably fantasised about being totally in charge! The Jubilee Celebrations were a fitting 'thank you' to a truly remarkable woman.

Just like the previous jubilees, when they announced the plans there were lots of comments that it wouldn't be very good, that people weren't going to be interested etc. like the other times, those comments were wrong. It was all tremendously well done and people really wanted to be part of it. I think most people people have great respect for the Queen and the way she has handled the job,even those who are not keen on the institution. Of course nothing is 100%, there are some people who really don't want anything to do with the jubilee. However, My local street party was organised by the street's only republican. The British don't do a lot of open patriotism ( it seems too much like boasting) so occasions like this are a great excuse to express it. I also think that this time everyone was conscious that , by the nature if things, we probably won't have another chance for another big celebration for the Queen.

In answer to your question, Her Majesty's preference for green is no coincidence and it speaks to the cultural significance of the colour itself. It melds beautifully with ideas of spring which the Queen adores, and the colour is often used to signal renewal and harmony, symbolising open-heartedness and, of course, some clover-inspired good luck! Her Majesty deliberately chooses bright colours so that people know she’s there, she needs to stand out for people to be able to say, ‘I saw the Queen!' When Her Majesty arrives somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four… ten to fifteen deep, and everyone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of The Queen's hat as she went past! The Lancaster bomber in the fly past was the British main heavy bomber of WW2 - my uncle who was 100 in December 2021 flew in these during the war, and was later posted to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). He is still going strong, living alone and driving his car. He is quite a local celebrity where he lives! I am nearly 60 and have only ever known H.M. Queen Elizabeth on the throne, as a constant in all of our lives. It is sad of course that the years are catching up on her now, and it will indeed be the end of an era when she passes. @monicawarner4091
@monicawarner4091 2 года назад
@@caroledwards3465 • Don't fret...the event cost you nothing as a taxpayer, apart from the usual amount of your Council tax that goes to policing. The celebrations were funded by commercial businesses, great and small. For the record, Boris and Carrie did get booed, and, as I'm sure you're perfectly aware, so did Harry and Meghan...very loudly, even though some of the crowd had remained silent but turned their backs to the couple. As for Charles making it clear there was no place for them in the family, how do you know? Have you witnessed their interactions? It has been reported that they visited Charles prior to the Thanksgiving service to ask for more money, and Charles rightly refused. Harry and Meghan were seated in St. Paul's among the non-working Royals as befits their status, and Beatrice and Eugenie were on the same row. It was their own decision to become non-working Royals. It wasn't forced upon them. Considering the false accusations made by Meghan about the Royal Family, which were backed up by Harry, the invitation to join the celebrations shows that the family do still consider the pair as family members...as does the fact that Harry is still a Cousellor of State. The fact that both wore recording devices is the reason why none of the family wanted to say much to them, and I don't blame them. Also, Harry and Meghan also insulted the whole population of the UK when they accused us all of being racists. They have only themselves to blame for the boos. Diana was an adulteress, and began her series of affairs long before Charles and Camilla did theirs.

A max bomb load of 15000 lbs I believe.
