About Californication: When fast-living novelist Hank Moody left the literary haunts of New York for the pleasure seeking splendors of LA, he thought he'd have fame, fortune and the love of a good woman. Now his personal life is in shambles, his career is on the brink of self-destruction and he still just can't stop yielding to every temptation. Golden Globe® winner David Duchovny stars in the Showtime Original series that takes you on a wild, witty, and sexy ride in the California fast lane.

Meet these washed up party girls all the time now. They wouldn't look at you in your 20s, but the clock starts ticking and all of a sudden they're interested in you. I not as mean as Hank. I let them down gently.

Didn't he tell her twice she didn't want it? Didn't his 2 friends also warn her. She was ignorant and insistent and folks who are both are given exactly the level of pain that helps them grow into more worthy sdults,,,IMO

This show was really amazing the first few seasons. The writing was fantastic, and the women were really beautiful. I'll never forget his best line. "It was the best of times, if only someone had told me. Mistakes were made, hearts were broken, harsh lessons learned. My family goes on without me, while I drown in a sea of pointless pussy.I don’t know how I got here, but here I am, rotting away in the warm California sun. There are things I need to figure out, for her sake at least. The clock is ticking, the gap is widening. She won’t always love me no matter what."

The weakness he exuded from every pore was nauseating. He felt so threatened, I almost felt ashamed to be the same sex as him. But then I remembered, this is how Hollywood thinks smart people talk.

@@victordasilva5255 Ah, the classic “Beta” label-because when in doubt, slap a simplistic, outdated hierarchy onto human behavior, right? It’s always amusing when someone resorts to the Alpha/Beta dichotomy as if it's a scientific measure of someone’s worth or strength. Let’s dissect this a little, shall we? First off, this whole "Alpha vs. Beta" narrative is about as useful as using astrology to predict stock prices. It’s a reductive view of human behavior, born from a misinterpretation of animal studies that have since been debunked even in the animal kingdom. Yet, here we are, still throwing these labels around like they somehow encapsulate someone’s entire identity. Newsflash: human strength-whether emotional, intellectual, or physical-doesn’t boil down to a simplistic ranking system. Now, on to your actual point-or lack thereof. You’re calling someone a "Beta" for expressing discomfort or recognizing insecurity? Interesting. I suppose in your world, real strength is suppressing all emotion, pretending you're invulnerable, and not admitting to any weakness? That’s not strength; that’s a façade. True strength is the ability to recognize vulnerabilities, adapt, and grow from them-not to posture behind macho buzzwords. So if acknowledging and critiquing weakness makes me a “Beta” in your eyes, then I guess I’ll wear that label proudly. Because at the end of the day, I’d rather be someone who thinks critically and evolves than someone clinging to an outdated social script.

@@bexo34 Ah, the “Who tf talks like this?” critique-a timeless classic for dismissing more nuanced or expressive writing. Let’s dig into it, shall we? It’s clear from your response that my choice of words and expressions might have struck you as somewhat unusual. But let’s not rush to judge the style or substance before considering the context. The language I used was deliberately crafted to convey a specific sentiment: the deep discomfort and disapproval towards a particular portrayal of weakness. Such expressions are not meant for casual conversation but rather to evoke a strong reaction and provoke thought. Your reaction suggests a preference for more straightforward, less embellished language. That’s fair, but it’s worth noting that different contexts call for different styles of communication. Just as a thriller might use intense, dramatic language to heighten suspense, or a comedy might rely on wit and understatement, certain discussions may benefit from more expressive and evocative language. So, if my style feels alien to you, it might be an invitation to broaden the scope of your reading or engagement. Not everyone communicates in plain terms, and sometimes, the richness of language serves to deepen the impact of the message. Rather than dismissing a style as “who tf talks like this?” it might be more enriching to explore why different voices and expressions exist and what they aim to achieve. After all, the variety in language is what makes discourse vibrant and multifaceted.

The only funny thing about this scene is that women want a guy that isn't really interested in her too much. They are all over a "successful" guy like this & ignore the good men because it's not a challenge...that is until they are in their 30s-40s and suddenly their biological clock starts ticking & start getting desperate.
