41:09 well you translated it literally and 100% correct. A native German might have said the same :D I am very much in love with how you identify all the different languages and actually speak some of them. It’s very rare that I see that in reactions. I also like your editing style a lot, you keep so much in! Have to watch more of your videos to find out where you from and what languages you speak :D Edit: Ok du wohnst in Deutschland haha
@oskarprotzer3000

To expand the German part: He said: Du brauchst keine Angst zu haben. Schultz then translates it with: Don’t be afraid That would actually be (Sei nicht verängstigt) So I think while your English sentence didn’t sound very native English, it sounded very native German. Like a German would have translated it if she wasn’t that good in English :D

I have heard in interviews that the blood when he smashed he glass was real. After he finished the line, they cut, cleaned and treated his hand. What he smeared over her face was fake blood. It would have been unprofessional as well as a violation of many rules, regulations, and laws to expose Carrie Washington to real blood in that manner.

The differences between a Sheriff and a Marshal is that a Sheriff is elected by the town/city to run the local police force called Deputies. A Marshal is a federal agent who's jurisdiction allows them to cross counties and state lines, also, Marshals are more like officers of the courts, hunting escaped felons, protecting witnesses and so forth.

@9:00 The terms Marshall and Sheriff can be very confusing in the US, particularly since their meanings have changed over time. Generally however a Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer of a county (back during the time of this movie also potentially a city). A Sheriff obtains his authority from a County or City government. A Marshall is generally a law enforcement officer who obtains his authority from the Federal government, typically encompassing an entire territory or other large region of the US. That said, in my law enforcement career I have encountered people referenced as "City Marshalls" in some really small communities which just tends to confuse the terms even more.

A firearm is a thing to be _respected._ It's not a _toy._ You don't learn how to be _responsible_ with a firearm, and next thing you know, you end up shooting someone you _care_ about.

Phrenology (the pseudoscience of associating bumps on the skull with personality traits) was a historically accurate popular belief of that time used to justify inherent racial difference. "You got sand" means courage, determination, resolve, or grit. It suggests that Django has tried to escape before (probably multiple times) and his owner doesn't want to deal with it because he knows he'll just do it again. The biggest detriment of a slave escaping wasn't losing a slave, it was that if successful, it encouraged the other slaves to also try to escape. Favorite Character - Big Daddy.

Great reaction, as usual. A few facts you may not know- after his fantastic work on “Inglorious Basterds”, Tarantino made sure to write a role for Waltz, as the German dentist-turned-bounty hunter who frees Django, trains him in his trade, and then helps to save his wife. Waltz initially turned down the role, feeling it was too obviously tailored towards him and wouldn’t be a challenge, but Tarantino persuaded him to take the part. The rest is history. The lead character’s name in Django Unchained comes from Sergio Corbucci’s old spaghetti western Django, which starred Franco Nero as the titular gunslinger. Nero has a cameo appearance in Django Unchained as an homage to the actor’s most iconic work. He plays the man at the bar who asks Django for his name. Django tells him, “The D is silent,” and in a pitch-perfect, self-referencing, wink-to-the-audience response, Nero says, “I know.”

53:57 Specifically, Alexandre Dumas's paternal grandmother was a slave of Afro-Caribbean descent. She was bought by a French marquis when he was in what's now called Haiti but was then a French colony. She had two daughters and a son with the marquis, and when he returned to France he sold her and their daughters but took their son Thomas-Alexandre with him - selling him at first but with the understanding that he could buy him back shortly afterwards. In France the marquis had Thomas-Alexandre freed and educated as a gentleman, but they had a falling out when Thomas-Alexandre joined the army as a private rather than as a higher rank befitting the son of a marquis, and Thomas-Alexandre took his mothers name Dumas. During the French Revolution Thomas-Alexandre became a lieutenant to Joseph Bologne (another son of a minor French aristocrat and a house slave who like Thomas-Alexandre was freed and educated in France and who was given the title Chevalier de Saint-Georges by Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette because of his skills as a fencer, composer and violinist but who was denied the position of director of the Paris opera because of his skin colour and who ultimately sided with the Revolutionaries rather than with the monarchy, and who during the French Revolution was made Colonel in the first all-black regiment in the French army), and went on to become the first man of African descent to rise to the position of General in the French army. He married a white French woman and had three daughters and a son with her, but their marriage was threatened by Napoleon reintroducing the slave practices and race laws that the revolution had dissolved when he became emperor of France, and he received no compensation for the years he was imprisoned while in service to the French army, and when he died his widow Napoleon refused to pay her the money given to widows of generals. Their son was Alexandre Dumas who is one of the most popular novelists of all time and is rumoured to have based some of his lead characters of his memories or stories that he heard of his father. So yes, Alexandre Dumas is black - though some insist on calling him 'mixed' so much that it sounds like they don't want a literary figure to be black and others may call him and his father Creole. Regardless, his accomplishments along with the accomplishments of his father and of Joseph Bologne definitely proves Calvin Candie's "theories" of white people being intellectually and artistically superior to black people to be complete nonsense.

I respect your comment but I disagree with it at the same time. While Leo is a great actor and did great with this role Samuel L Jackson was the centerpiece to this movie.. His manipulation is what made that final act what it was to be able to get the best out of the other characters. He moved the story to get what we got. I despised his character as he played it so well and it was easy to gravitate to because I needed to see what underhanded act Steven was gonna pull to not allow Django to get his wife or even get them killed. That’s no disrespect to the other characters as everyone did well or even your comment for choosing Leo but I think Sam stole the show, just my personal opinion

The way Sam stares at Jamie during the dinner is chilling.

Waltz was the best actor in this movie, not Leonardo.

Samuel L Jackson he’s interprétation of Steven is phenomenal. Even though this is a love story. Tarantino here is talking about slavery in the US OF A. And of course their were all kind of slave and all kind of slave owners. But I’ve never thought someone would show such a despicable caractere. And I’ve never thought Sir Jackson could be in that type of role ! I have such appreciation for him as a man. I am literally shocked y his performance here !

9:15 so then You should definitely watch Alita: Battle Angel, starring Christoph Waltz as one of the main characters. This is my most favorite movie, from James Cameron directed by Robert Rodriguez. If You liked Avatar, Alita should too.

The horse that Django rides in the movie actually belongs to Jamie Foxx.

This is in my top 3 for Tarantino movies. The dialogue is just SO well done. The only negative thing I would say about it is that he should have just ended it after the house explosion. Everything after that is just....unneccesary.

Didn’t the movie end with the explosion? I’m confused

If you like westerns one of the greatest ever made by Hollywood is Tombstone. Great actors with even greater dialogue🔥

As a Leonardo fan too - I'll recommend "The Departed" or "The Revenant" (won an Oscar for that one) ... Awesome movies - and awesome acting! :)
