Haha, yeah. I was just trying to be positive. And the fact it doesn't seem like a CoD game is a good thing. For too long they've milked the franchise and it's kind of refreshing to see a different take. Albeit a familiar one, but refreshing all the same. Hell, even the Shadowy Spokesman gave it a couple of good points, possibly redeeming factors. Maybe they've seen the light? It's surely no Battlefield 1 (which looks bloody amazing and I'm not even into FPS that much) but it's a step in the right direction.

SpectreGray atleast you can unlock the shit easier now. i unlocked the shadowclaw after playing the game religiously since the time it came out. and only got half the melee weapons and the didn't get a projectile gun until 2 days before this game launched

Well, there are supposedly something like seven stories that we just keep retelling over and over. It is hard to come up with anything original and part of the reason we don't get a whole lot of originality is because games are so expensive to make now that if you take a gamble on something original and it fails you have to declare bankruptcy.

Yeah, your point? Halo 5 is trying to be like Titanfall and CoD what with its "enhanced mobility". I really would love for Halo to return to form. A game with simple mechanics that build on each other to create greater complexity as you develop in skill. Halo 2 and 3 were definitely the golden age for Halo.

Just imagen if they all stuck to their roots and fixed the issues, would be glorious. Seeing as people are paying £40 for DLC packs, they might as well keep it all the same, and just sell new maps, customisation unlocks and other stuff each 1/2yrs. You look at Halo now and that's essentially what they're doing but forgot about the fixing the original content and continuing on expanding the game. Instead they removed original content and added in sellable content.

Everyone got tired of complaining that every CoD is the same, now it's too different. The entire fanbase is filled with babies, so what do you expect. But in all seriousness, soemething that isn't super futuristic doesn't appeal to teenagers and they prefer to project power fantasies through military shooters that feel relatable.

***** I didn't realise modern warfare had jetpacks and was set in space. As far as changes go, it's more different to say, BF1942 -> BF2 -> BF3 -> BF4 -> BF1. Don't get me wrong, I haven't been a fan of the franchise since MW2, but from an outsiders point of view, the change people always cried about is well integrated into the game when they started introducing shit like jump packs. And now the campaign has a totally different setting too. Or, if you want to slate a franchise using the same setting, you could complain how Battlefield did BF2, BF2MC, BFBC, BFBC2, BF3, BF4. That's 6 (SIX) modern military shooters in a row. (Saying this as someone that's been a huge fan of Battlefield since BF1942, the franchise isn't without huge faults) The problem with sameness within a game franchise is a problem across the industry. FIFA, Madden, NBA, Battlefield, CoD. You name a franchise with more than 2-3 games and I can pretty much guarantee when you boil them down to the basics, it's SSDD.

Because CoD players really are the macho, insecure 12yo stereotypes we've always suspected they were. They probably think space ships are a trojan horse for a female protagonist and gay sidekick in the next game. I hope they're right, if only because I want to see their internet meltdown.

***** Same goes for any shooter franchise.. Change too much and people bitch and whine about it. Do you think Battlefield has changed much since BF1942 was released in 2002? Nah, it's still the same combined arms arcade-style shooter as it was back when (despite DICE being more select with marketing buzzwords to appeal to twinks that fall for said buzzwords). The biggest difference in gameplay between then and now is that bullets have travel time and drop after they moved from Refractor to Frostbite. Since then, it's also been the same shit. (Fun shit, admittedly, but same shit none the less). Same with Counterstrike 1.6 > Source > GO. They're mostly the same, with a few subtle differences here and there. FIFA, Madden, NBA. They don't make huge changes, but people that regularly play those games will say year on year is different.
