Wow how beautiful it must be to live the way our ancestors did before all this technology took over our world as we know it. That’s when families were more united, social with one another. I remember growing up I used to love watching little house in the prairie, just the way that they lived was so beautiful. I’m glad to see that your wife is enjoying it, may God richly bless your marriage and your lifestyle.🙏🏽🤗👍🏼
Am I weird, I just love watching and listening to you crunch in the snow, and the food sizzling, and the pans clanking and the fire popping..you don't even have to say a word. LOL
Shawn, I apologize for the length of this comment in advance. Two weeks ago I was reading the comments and many talked about how happy you seem now. I've been following you since the beginning. There were glimpses of happiness from you. I remember one time with you and Cali on the side porch and your visit to Dick Proenneke's cabin. You had a smile and gleam in your eyes. I didn't see that again until your girls came to the cabin for Christmas and when you tasted your wife's pizza. I'm so happy for you that you have found your true happiness with your wife joining you at the cabin. Thanks again for sharing your journey with us! You make my day brighter! God Bless!!
@@alicekato3645same here, and absolutely adoring all that they are willing to produce....I am so relaxed and happy to be in an imaginary cold space on earth.with this whole family-.
Three of you sitting by the fire in the cold night air, yet your hearts are warm. I LOL’d when Cali decided to sit in the middle. Just like my Golden! She’s “the glue” and it’s all about togetherness. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful and precious memory.
The coziness of you two sitting, surrounded by a wall of snow centered with a roaring fire. Your heads touching...that moment...will stay in my memory as what is most beautiful about your life....
Some little furry girl looked a little jealous of another lady sitting with her man....haha. The fire at the end looked so cozy and the laughter and love at the end of the day is what it’s all about....no matter where you abide
Your wife should start a series documenting the transition to this lifestyle and how she fills her days. Would be interesting to see her perspective and experiences.
I agree! They are missing a unique opportunity to expand their coverage of this new way of life by exploring the wife’s view as she adjusts to and establishes her comfort zone. Other wives who are contemplating or on the verge of making a similar life style change like this would benefit from her experiences. : )
MaraxasLoL Why? She’ not just his wife. She’s an individual person, with her own tastes and interests. Obviously, making RU-vid videos isn’t one of them, or she would have done so by now. Different strokes ya know...
That dog has it made, Lukas had coyotes I believe he might have had a coyote girlfriend, I saw him and the coyotes out in the yard and went out there they looked familiar with each other.
Every moment you live is a page of well-deserved happiness, Cali is part of the family and she knows how to make it understood. Thank you for sharing these pleasant moments in a difficult period that affects all of humanity on the planet
Watching you work with hand tools patiently, in the woods, accompanied by your dog and a kind woman brings a calming rightness to my viewing. Thank you, Mr. James.
And then he covers her braised chicken well seasoned and covered in herbs with half a gallon of some crap grocery store hot sauce. Franks maybe? I cook for people who do that to my food just once, ever. They want me to cook for them again and I flat cover it in habanero powder. Goes the same for catsup people or folks that put A1 on steak.
I have watched and binged watched many of your videos over the last several months and have felt inspired, calm and interested. During this video, I closed my eyes several times just to listen to your movements, the Forest and Cali walking around. It was very comforting. At the end of this video, after watching Cali climb the snow hill to be with you two, and then crawl into your lap, tears welled up in my eyes. I was at Peace. Best channel on RU-vid. And I dont own a TV.
I just discovered your channel about a month ago. Having been raised in the rural south and just recently retired, I find your way of life resonants with me in a way more so than living in a city. I just love the tranquillity that I feel watching your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your life.
The scene at the beginning of the video brought up so many memories of my father. It was when life was less complicated, more peaceful and meaningful. I miss him.
Gaelle Maz I miss mine too everyday. And I always think he would love Shawn James and what he’s doing here. I agree with you about it being less complicated , more peaceful and meaningful too. Thank you for your post.
This is how I've kept my sanity the past year... I have ALWAYS wanted this, but will not have it... so I play your videos while cleaning and taking care of the animals... and the calm, and the peace within... It is a joy like no other..... with all the loss the past year... this is pure and gentle and I do feel, very much.... that in some way... I am there... thank you, bless you and be safe...
Such a gorgeous video, so many sounds and the beauty of the surroundings. That chicken looked soooo goood, I am now officially starving. But best of all was Shawnn and Mrs. Shawn enjoying some romantic time together. That's what it's all about, two people on a journey together through life, with Cali trying to claim Shawn's lap :D That was sooo cute!!! God bless you all, and thank you for sharing your journey with us. I like the simple life.
Shawn has changed my life in so many (good) ways recently. Today I finally went for my first trip in my new Kajak. Long story short... had a great swim!
Good to see the fire warming the body and hearts of the most loved couple out in the wilderness . A wonderful cabin home for Mr, & Mrs. James and the adorable Cali the wonder dog.
Its nice to see ur more at peace as ur wife is with u pls make her comfortable too she deserve it get d solar up so she can watch a little bit of something news or entertain herself while u r outside or listen to some music while she is doing d cooking make smile each day Shawn she deserve it.
I had a thought about what I was going to comment on. I read some of the other comments and said I guess this is what it's all about. Happiness is not a destination its the journey. Your journey with your wife and yes don't forget Callie. I have a dog that equally brings joy and a burst of constant laughter. What a blessing. I loved the scene at the fire at night . Good night sleep tight. RC
Why in Gods name would someone watch this and then put a thumbs down? If you don’t like it just don’t watch it! The work that goes into making these and the joy it gives us is priceless, take yourselves and your bad thoughts elsewhere.
Husband and Wife team, And that beautiful dog, your a great team. Many blessings to you all. Thank you for sharing your lives with all of us. Your a joy to watch.
Man...there's not much more beautiful than seeing two people at ease both separately and together. The wilderness lifestyle content is so awesome and inspiring...but so is the sweetness we get a glimpse of with you and your wife. Y'all. Tinder. Ain't. It. You *earn* love like this. Be about it.
Beautiful sounds and nuances in these videos. The crackling fire, crunch of the snow, the sound of food cooking. I can feel the warmth of the fire, the snow underfoot, and taste the mouthwatering home cooked meals! And your dog is a treasure!
Yip, there I am again, sipping my morning coffee in The Netherlands, Europe, looking at Shawn and his lovely wife living in the Canadese wilderness. Call me crazy, but I'm enjoying it a lot. Good luck from NL.
I so enjoy watching you work. I am watching tonight after the closing on my house. Tomorrow I will sort through my odds and ends I packed in my car, pay bills and plan my next move to my camp. Thank you for your inspiration.
My wife and I are in our 70s and we are building a cabin up in the mountains in southern Utah. Been a hard winter down there. -22 and 3 -4 feet of accumulated snow this winter. Been chomping at the bit to get back down there to finish up this spring through fall. Your site has kept me going. First on the agenda is to do the backing for the stove and get it hooked up. Finish the siding and start the interior finishes. I am fortunate as well because my wife has always loved the outdoors and pushes me to get out as often as we can. We have a tent on top of an Xterra and have done thousands of miles of overlanding. She is beginning to struggle with arthritis in her feet so she won't be able to help like she has the past summers. Looking to push through so we can just sit back and enjoy it. I have built or supervised the building of over 4000 homes in my career and am still active running a residential home building company now. The journey has been great. Love when the kids and grandkids come down to help
Thomas Armitage Hi. You have a lovely story Thomas. I wish you and your wife well. You’re an inspiration. Nowadays, couples have hard time staying together, let alone doing big projects like you have. It’s nice to have inspiration from people like you. I wish you and your family all the best and good luck on your mountain cabin. Cheers!
I haven't been following every single episode of this adventure. But... I was surprised to see his wife. I don't know now any more. She will spoil all that solitude. Peacefulness. Harmony. He must get rid of her. What if she starts rearranging his furniture and his house. Plus since she is there dog gets far less attention. Wife was a really bad idea.
What a treat! ❤️❤️❤️A journey of rare beauty, Labour, laughter and love culminating in a wondrous spectacle. Thank you once again Mr & Mrs James & beautiful Cali, for taking us all along for the ride.. I truly cannot stop smiling 😊
May God bless you and your beautiful family. My spirit has come alive and I feel at peace when I watch you work; the beautiful atmosphere that you are in is truly breathtaking and remarkable, you have given me much inspiration. I thank you very very much!! Again, God bless you and keep safe.✝️❤️💗💖

Would love to hear how your wife is adjusting from the "all you could want" life to the "all you need" life. God bless you both in your "new" life together.
I am in the Philippines now with no flight home and am enjoying watching and rekindling Canadian winter experiences that spark great memories..... I always enjoy your videos . Thanks ...
My routine is so much like yours in so many ways with regard to tending the stove and bringing in the wood. I have been the one in the house to stoke the fire every day. My father always had fires going, in the house and garage and fireplace in the backyard. Yes, lots to do but tread softly, slowly, and most of all safely dear Shawn. We all care a great deal about you and yours and would be so sorrowful without you in our lives.
День Вам добрый я проживаю в России, на Дальнем Востоке. Просмотрел все Ваши фильмы и мне очень нравится как сам замысел идеи, так и ее воплощение в жизнь. У Вас золотые руки и нескончаемый запас энергии.
My husband and I always enjoy your videos! This one we watched twice!! Very funny at the end with Calie coming between you and your wife! Blessed to the core! Thank you Shawn.
OMG, I so loved this episode. Howdy, wife D. It is so wonderful to actually see you & Shawn interact. It is entirely to cute.....from obscene to right down just enjoyment. My girl Cali was not to be left out. I cracked up laughing at her climbing all over you two. She's our girl. LOL.......I am so happy to see you enjoying all the benefits of living off grid. Something so many of us wish we could do, but we live it thru the two of you. Thank you so much for continuing to share it with us. BIG hugs from Jamie & Paddy in Tennessee........
I have been watching all of your videos trying to catch up since recently discovering your shows. This is so comforting and the scenes are so beautiful! You are such a hard worker. I would love a life style like that. My husband and I would go camping and gold panning, with the dogs, four times a year and I miss that so much!! Thank you for making this journey available for us to share. It's truly a pleasure! :)
If only more people appreciated the simpler things in life.....its not that its simple, it is clean living in a healthy environment. Now Calli, well she wants love too! She has to share after a couple of years of being Mr. Shawns best friend. The saw horses look great!!! Keep posting please, it is so relaxing!
Dejar Shawn. It Wars owesome to Heard you laughing together with your wife. Watching you so happy, means that this simple life belongs to you both. Congratulations and I wish you may be well adapted to this off grid way of living. Greetings from México . By the way, I have watched all your podcasts already.
Hi there... just wanted to thank you for sharing your time with us. I've been working in factories for the last 30+ years and everyday is like groundhog day. To watch someone that is where they are meant to be, doing what they love and living each day like a brand new adventure gives the rest of us hope for our own future. Never forget that you are not alone in the wilderness... we are all rooting for you and your family everyday. God Bless.
