i dont think marie is shocked because she was insulted, i think she was hurt and this is the point where she realized her actions were hurting callie. if it was just an insult to her, she would've probably been ready to snap back. instead, she looked inward at her own actions and realized 'wow, this is how callie feels and its kind of my fault'. she cares about callie, but had failed to treat her with respect. realizing this on live television that yeah, the way she had been acting hurt callie, must have very much been a big motivator for her in splatoon 2, i think.

Yep, she does have the ability to completely destroy people verbally, but she chooses not to (most of the time). She is simply that kind and forgiving.
The idol on our left is usually the one getting picked on. I think the developers just wanted an excuse to present the theme in order of Naughty or Nice, rather than Nice or Naughty. I don't care what you say, Callie is the nice one most of the time.
I think this shows that Callie is very much capable of putting Marie in her place whenever she wants. She simply chooses not because of how kind and forgiving she is.

Hello I am from the future. Currently the upcoming splatfest in splatoon 2 is "OJ with pulp VS OJ with no pulp." During the little dialogue that happens when they discuss the splatfest theme, pearl and marina argue about pulp vs no pulp and pearl just flat-out-loud says "I Don't trust people who don't like Pulp in their OJ" and both Pearl and Marina go silent
this is why I'm baffled as to why the majority prefers Callie's salty, selfish, stuck up cousin. I don't care about the final splatfest or Callie's role in Splatoon 2, I will always be a loyal member of #teamcallie .
You're free to think what you want, but you can't deny that the animations for Pearl and Marina are much more intricate and lively than Callie and Marie. I find Off the Hook charming, and I'll admit that Marina was one of the main reasons I got Splat2n in the first place.
Honestly, a lot of people never thought much of the Squid Sisters either when they were first revealed. It wasn't until the single-player campaign in Splatoon 2 where they were actually more interesting.
i feel like this is why callie decided to join the octarians in splatoon 2. she probably just wanted to be better than marie. if that happens, let's hope she isn't abusive of her fame.
