QUESTION OF THE DAY: What supplies do YOU use when you do calligraphy?! Let me know in the comments below... Also! DON'T MISS OUT on these FREE downloads: Modern Calligraphy E-Book < bit.ly/calligebook >, Guide to Turning Illustrations Into Vector Art < bit.ly/vectorartai >, and if interested in licensing your artwork, check out this FREE guide < bit.ly/licensingsheet >.
My favourite supplies are an oblique holder, walnut ink and Daiso grid Kraft notebook (not all Daiso paper work with calligraphy ink, but this one works with most inks like sumi, walnut, iron gall, acrylic). Love it so much!
Jenna MY COPIES of your new book just arrived!! Finally!!! I guess pre orders to Cape Town take a little longer! But oh man I am SO EXCITED! Doing a binge watch of your videos and then going to start the book I bought the second copy to do a giveaway with because I so desperately want people to learn how art can help them deal with stress and anxiety and loads of other good stuff... 😂 my brother did the mistake of trying to put his coffee mug on my desk and I screamed “Get that dirty brown stuff away from my desk” and my mom had to explain that the books from America had finally arrived and so I was very territorial about my clean desk 😂 😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 Ps. can’t believe you’re giving the digital copy of that calligraphy handout for free Oh my goodness!!! You are amazing and kind!! And every tip you share changes my thinking by 100x Like the tip about charging when people expect things for free. Or how watercolour can be used as an ink too 😍🎨🖋... Anyway enough with my compliments, you’re probably in the middle of a 💩 nappy change thinking why is this girl so chirpy 😉 Lots of hugs to baby Smyles Nabeelah
Awwww thanks so much Nabeelah!! I so appreciate your constant kindness and LOVE your excitement for not just my content, but for art in general! So awesome!! I do hope you enjoy the Everyday Watercolor book now that it has arrived!! Thanks again and take care!! xoxo
@@JennaRaineyChannel how abt upper case letters, connections and writing words/sentences?? Will it be covered in the coming videos?? If so will they have downloadable files??
The downloadable E-book is the same guide that will be offered in all my calligraphy videos (there won't be any additional calligraphy downloads -- for now, at least)... the upcoming technique videos really gets you started with the basics of upstrokes and downstrokes... I don't specifically get as far as actual letters/words quite yet, but will definitely do videos on that as well... BUT with the techniques that are coming in these videos, you'll be able to put them into practice immediately to get going on words/letters etc. :)
Awesome content. Thanks for the E-Book as well. The only links thats seem to be working for supplies is the ink link and glass jar link. -I can't wait to practice my name in calligraphy. It will be my signature move.
Thanks for the freebie Jenna. I have both a straight pen holder and oblique and have done a real life class with @moyagraphy in Melbourne. Am not getting enough practice to really see improvement (because there are only so many hours in a day right?) If I am just dinking around I generally just get out the liquid Ecoline watercolour and use Rhodia paper.
Thanks for letting me in on your process! Ya, it can definitely be tough to find the extra time in the day, but it does definitely take that consistent practice to build up that muscle memory. But once you get it, you got it! I hope you can find some time to enjoy your practice. :) xoxo
Bea beamakesartnstuff hi Bea! I try to keep a sketchbook with me at all times .. it’s changed my art. If I’m waiting in a queue or have a free few minutes I try little sketches. S maybe if you keep one page with you at all times. And practice in between tasks when you have that 5 minutes to enjoy a cup of tea..? That might help 🙏
Cape Town Watercolour Art Hi good tip, I do little drawings throughout the day (at work, on the phone, while waiting for the computer to do its thing etc) - just not hand lettering because I don’t carry those supplies around with me.
I'm a beginner and right now very confused and really need help a guidence could u please suggest me where to start from evrythng is really confusing -_-
Link the videos you mention in the little white info button at the top of the screen. Idk how to do that because I don't post on RU-vid, but I know I watch more videos when they are linked in that button for me 😁 Keep up the good work guys!
Awesome as always! I tried to get the e-book but when I put in my e-mail it says this e-mail is already subscribed to the account. How do I get the e-book in this case?
How young would you say someone could start learning calligraphy? My daughter is seven. She would love it but I’m not sure her ability to control her heavy handedness.
I'd say the earlier the better, with anything! It is important for early learners to learn properly, or else you'll need to unlearn bad habits (potentially), so I hope my calligraphy videos can help get your daughter started in the right direction. I have some calligraphy basics videos that would be perfect for her! Hope that helps. Take care.
Hi Visa! The link is in the video description as well as I 'pinned' a comment (meaning it should be the top comment you see) and that includes the link. Sign-up through your e-mail, and then check your inbox, it will be downloaded from your e-mail. Hope that helps!
Hey! It’s the first link in description after “download my free...” and if you can’t find that, Jenna pinned a comment (should be the first comment you see) with the same link. Should work, I just checked it. 👍🏻 hope that helps!
When I click on the link it has me put my email address and my first name and then subscribe after I subscribe it takes me to the website once I get to the website I don't see any download that resembles the e-book she's describing
