Joanne, you are such a good teacher! These have been precisely the type of tutorial I'm looking for--I'm really enjoying learning from you. Your line about making the joints stronger, comparatively to the meeting of hands, was so poignant. Thank you! (I hope this comment reaches you somehow.)
I love your video! You made this so easy for me to learn the italic style that now I feel more confident with practicing! Thank you so much for taking the time to teach calligraphy! God Bless You
I love anything Sakura!!! Calligraphy pens, gel pens, oh and their blister line... it totally makes my watercolor pieces stand out... I out line with the micros or just use the brush pen... I do more gothic/frankfurt style but I'm working. This video really helps. Even if im using my speedball square dip pen or even pilot parallel pen. Regardless its awesome they put these video's out.
Hi Joanne. Please could you tell me where I can download or buy the italic calligraphy alphabet uppercase and lowercase lettering guides that you do in your videos. Thank you
Love this lettering! I would love to be able to print out your finished alphabet of the Swash capital italic and lower italic if at all possible. I would like to have it as a guide to use while I try this. Thank you!
I got a calligraphy fountain pen set from hobby lobby, amazon has it as well. I use the 1.9mm nib and use the 2mm guide sheets on the sakura america website. It is a cheap way to get started. An even cheaper way is to youtube or google how to make your own nibs from feathers or reeds.
I have a book, "the calligrapher's bible", but it is more of a reference for how to do different fonts. I find that this lady's series is good to get my foot in the door to understand how it works, and then the book makes more sense and becomes useful.
These videos are really nice, and your lettering is so pretty. It is a shame, however, that the videos so short and rushed. Not enough time on each letter.
