He was actually a teacher at my school, he eventually ended up leaving due to the pass of his wife but he’s doing better and I’m pretty sure he check in with the students every once in a while.
I think University is more like an adult's environment, so that is why most people (students and teachers) call each other by their first name. Meanwhile, High School is more like a children's environment, so students are being expected to call teachers by their last name as a way to show respect as a child to an adult.
@@tillmann3668 In my country, students (highschool/uni) can call teachers/professors by their first name. There is no title + last name, only title + first name.
At some degree I believe it sounds complementing that your students actually learned your whole name Like first name last name whole thing lightly flattering that means they like you oh they’re so annoyed by you one of the two
It's like doctors studying to be doctors for many years and attaining the title of doctor after working hard for it don't get refered to as doctor this or that. When teachers study to be teachers I guess it's a respect thing,to call them their last name instead of first name if you won't say professor etc. I know it's a joke but looks bad from the outside also if a teacher's too close to one or some student(s) it might not look right to other adults .
Hehe my apwh teacher talks about how terrible his dead family is... He literally acts like he’s still an ap student. Depressed, stressed, tired, and knows that he won’t be able to get all his grading done in time without pulling all-nighters 😂😂
@@asmrbyjames5759 its respect...like I was raised to call any adult by there 1st name but put Ms....Mrs...Miss...Mr... ect in the front to show respect. Like I was raised to say yes ma'am no ma'am, yes sir no sir....my family is extremely old school and my dad was in the army to so maybe that's why as well lol..idk..but I dont mind it.....if an adult calls me, I have to answer with Ma'am, or sir...not WHAT or YEA...(what or yea, or huh..ect..is disrespectful)
@@asmrbyjames5759 I'm not from America, but it seems they have to call teachers by their last name (with Mrs or Mr before) and calling them only by their names is "disrespectful" but okay every country is different.
@vječnazima Well, I'd really liked to be addressed as 'licencianda' or 'doctora' which are some of the titles for professionals, I am not sure if there's an equivalent in this language for the first, but the second would be doctor
I had a teacher who called his students by their last names like “Yes, Ms. Johnson, that is correct.” I thought it was cool. I had a lot of respect for him
@@Evelyn-vh1ex It is cultural...I grew up in Italy and is the same people are more introvert and polite, but in Brazil call someone by the last name seems too formal or even a joke sometimes. Call people by first name can also show affection and caring not just lack of manners...but deep inside me I have the same thought as you lol
@@MaximQuantum not mine Once i was drawing an elephant and she screamed at a student so loud i got a mini heartattack and my elephant's trunk went outside the paper😂😂😂😂 No kidding teachers from neighbouring classes came to check if she was ok😂😂😂😂😂 She was screaming at everyone.... Tearing the drawing if it missed a few details and kicking the legs of students if they were talking... 😭😭😭
@@agu2088 ummm maybe for other schools in India, but I go to a school in Odisha and we are NOT allowed to call them by their names, never. My friend did that for fun and almost they ended his life.
I had this really cool teacher who told us especifically not to call him professor, teacher or Mr.whatever because that was a way of depersonalizing him and establishing a sort of distance and hierarchy between him and us, giving him a place of authority and superiority over us. He said he believed he was no better than us and we were no better than him, we're all learning and he'd respect us as long as we repected him. We always called him by his first name. I have more respect for that guy than for anyone I was required to call Mr/Mrs.
i live in sweden and i had a teacher exactly like that, but either way we don’t call teachers mr or mrs etc - everyone is called by their first names they
It was the same for me when I was in elementary. Except for a couple of teachers, we called them on a first name basis. Some of them would even get upset when we didn't call them by their first name.
....I mean, I certainly hope that my professors are better than me in their field or else I wouldn't want them teaching me. I was recently a student and I hated calling professors by their first name when they asked
@@KBlock-kg6hp Once, my teacher wrote my name on a sing where they were showing the best grades, he wrote it 3 times, he wrote it 3 times wrong, HE WROTE IT 3 DIFFERENT WAYS WRONG
