@@MapleSyrupAddict no they won't. with the project DB and Alstom have won the contract and sorta said that they will be using their existing cars with the (AC3 TRAXX maybe) alstom TRAXX platform. They will have shorter trains but more frequent service
@@StefanWithTrains Texan here, where I live have new Stadler FLIRT DMUs (TEXRail) and I’m happy that the U.S. passenger rails have significantly improved and we are expected to have two bullet trains coming soon!
I’m sorry dude. I know people have some kind of nostalgia for the current diesel dinosaurs but these new things are Star Trek tech by comparison. They have much quicker acceleration, they’re faster, much more comfortable, orders of magnitude more efficient, bi-level to enable level boarding, and most importantly electric. There’s no comparison. These Stadlers will make Caltrain a world class high-frequency railroad. What we have now is childish memorabilia compared to these beauties. This is a long overdue upgrade too.
But they are electric and are dependent on the power if San Francisco’s power went out they could not run but if the power went out and they had diesels then they could still run
@@IndustrialParrot2816 Well I guess it's also the dream of the YIMBYs... But no, their proposed train frequencies were one of the biggest NIMBY concerns raised in local city council meetings while Caltrain was planning their electrification.
Which is sad and embarrassing because the first electric trains were in the US the Milwaukee and Pennsylvania railroads pioneered electric railroads and the Pennsylvania Railroad inspired Japan to build the first shinkansen
@@adamstahl3948 the Pennsylvania Railroad's Electrification is still around well most of it but the Milwaukee Road is completely gone the track was even ripped out
Lol, the SF Bay Area has had electric trains since the 19th century. The modern pantograph was invented by an engineer of the Key System, which is the precursor interurban rail system that was replaced by BART in the 1970s.
@@IndustrialParrot2816 Bro u dumb s... Stadler is working fine. its one of the best manufactors on the globe.. Alstom and bombardier is just trash thats why they dont work ..
@@BalloonBugle88 literally, if they would’ve have overhauled the gallery cars and the Bombardier with the f40s and MP36’s making them battery powered like how metra is doing then that would be better but too late now. But at least the baby bullets are still running to gilroy
