Finally once I’m my life I feel like I know a little more about one thing than my favourite RU-vidr lol as a conductor for Cn rail this is great to watch and hilarious at the same time. Great video jeff. And a heads up don’t use the automatic break when your light engine (no cars on) use your independent break while in the yard. Just remember independent break is the locomotive break and automatic is the break you use when you have cars on. 👍🏻 cheers 🍻
I love trains and i love the fact you always have amazing content out for people to be able to enjoy during stressful times because i binge watched your videos today and i felt calm despite what's going on in the world
Judging from the cab mounted numberboards, these CalTrain switchers are former Southern Pacific units. Originally acquired when the Union Pacific took over the SP, two units UP 1289 (SP 2691) and UP 1290 (SP 2692) were sold to CalTrain around 2009 (don’t quote me on that year) and we’re repainted into CalTrain colors and renumbered to 503 and 504.
Love this, I work on the railroad and often run in these MP15’s they are some of the best engines we have. Keep up the awesome content I love the train sim stuff!
Ya, those ones I like or do the LA to San Diego route with the new charger and maybe even Amtrak, Metrolink AND Coaster. Also having the semi new cars instead of the old Bi-levels that go in the middle but it may be a little much, what I'm asking, yours I think they could and problably will do
Quick tip: use the independent brake if its only you and a few cars, it only controlls the brakes on the your loco and any coupled directly to you, it's much more precise for yard switching
10:50 i went through the tutorials in Train Simulator 2020 and the independent brake is for when you are just the engine. i tend to use it when i'm having trouble slowing down and to maintain a constant speed. the dynamic brake works by reversing the polarity on the engine, and is again primarily for engine only. Automatic brake is the main airlines that run along any cars attached and activates the brakes on all cars and engines.
Hi Jeff great vid! Also for loco only you would use independent, for a whole consist use automatic, and dynamic when going down hill. Dynamic braked are similar to engine breaks in trucks for example
The guys who do the cuts in the Yard are called pin up. I work in MOE Department and I always see 504 and 503 . I actually enjoy this route and also my aunt who works with me likes how it looks realistic. Its missing a few stuff in the yard but I wont give out information here cause I heard a story of Model railroader/foamer walk in with a fake badge taking few photos of the yard and The house
Jeff favignano, I saw that you mentioned the different brakes on the train, automatic brake are brake that activate on the entire train and independent activate the brakes on the locomotive, I might also add that dovetail released a new north American route with Canadian National
This game is cool to watch, really wish the devs would add dynamic weather and environmental fx like soft wind effects, distant factory and/or city noises, nature/wildlife wherever needed. I usually find that games with EFX make allowance for immersion a lot better. Glad they added the rattles in the cabin though. Also have to mention how well the texture works looks, believable and realistic. Definitely well done on their graphics department.
Question to CSX Folks out here. What does N1 mean? I just noticed it in the AC4400 where my Throttle shows not 1 but N1. I find it strange and even with four thousand horsepower, I can barely haul a 33 car consist of empty coal cars.
Game: Achieve a MINIMUM of 5 mpg. Jeff: I dont know the difference between minimum and maximum so I'm gonna make this 10 minutes longer then it needs to be and do 2 mph the whole video.
Just picked up TSW from Game Pass. Thoroughly enjoying GWE and LIRR. There’s some things I’d like to see on Xbox though like zooming in and button mapping. I’d like to see high and low horn on up down d pad tbh. Also do you know what Scenario Markers on/off does? Objective Markers are the only thing I notice disappearing. Can’t find out what scenario markers are for the life of me
I've got the CN Rail Oakville DLC as it has my city of Hamilton in it. The DLC is great & all but me personally i find it lacking content especially when u play the sandbox map which is the Harbour section of Hamilton. It's great don't get me wrong that u can load the tankers with Ethanol but that's all that u can do there's no place to offload the cars. The other miss is despite the other cars on the maps u can't load or unload them which makes the DLC get boring real quick compared to some of the other ones.
Josh Mitchell we need some go train service even if it’s a run 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 Oakville to Hamilton or the vice versa. The got the train Consist from Sol Cal. Except the need the MP-40. But it might be licensing. I work at Go Transit I might have to ask if they been contacted to add contact?
@@cobra5087 i saw the devs doing a stream when this DLC came out & they were saying it's an idea to add both Go Transit & VIA Rail but for the time being it's not on the list of projects cuz they'd have to update the map & i think the game engine due to the complexity of the maps in the DLC.
Jeff, love the vids, but please stop leaving the bell on. It is not required. The only time the bell is used is if you're moving in proximity of men and equipment next to the rail or on a crossing. All other times, please for the love of our ears, turn it off. Also, when you're switching, use the Independent brake as much as possible. It will keep you from wasting air and have better control of speed.
I've gotten the exact opposite response from turning the bell off, I don't think I can win either way. It was an active yard and you would have people around. I will turn it off next time
Jeff Favignano Id say flick it off too. I guess its realistic, but for the video purpose it can get annoying, sometimes hard to understand what you're saying.
@@TobiasRieper047 Thing is, it's not realistic. The bell is almost never used in a yard situation. It is loud (yes, louder than the apparent volume of the horn from most angles) and it really grates on crews if it's left on long, so it is used as rarely as possible. When railroaders speak of "men and equipment" they mean people doing construction/maintenance along the main line. A yard is a different animal with different working rules. The only time I've seen the bell used while in motion in a yard was when a crew was working next to the run-around track, belt track, or main yard lead (i.e. the outermost tracks in the yard). Even on the in/out tracks next to the mainline, use of the bell was pretty rare unless the crew didn't show clear signs they weren't aware of the switch crew approaching.
@@jfavignano I even downloaded it minutes after you posted so I could watch it when I get time which will be tonight. Just wish RU-vid would finish notifications.
I've been having an issue on the console edition the train horn will work just fine in the first couple minutes then it just stops working is anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?
These are the old-style switchers. You have seen switchers, actually, just in the form of a GP38 or maybe a GP40. They're pretty versatile locomotives.
