Simon may seem like an asshole to some but he knows talent when he sees one. We can't blame the guy for being so strict when selecting contestants, he knows what he's doing.
Well said...you can tell he was reliving moments of his life throughout the performance. There was no need to ponder if he was good enough. He did what all of the greats do for the public and people who feel music deeply...take you to a place of pain, happiness, sadness, joy, regret, frustration...everything you’ve felt pours out when when a guy like this picks the perfect song and arrangement for his voice. You could see it all over his face that he could really relate to the lyrics through emotion conveyed by one of the best singers I have ever heard in my entire life. Just beyond brilliant.
My family dragged me to see pentatonix (idk if I spelled that right) - And when we were walking up to the stadium there was this guy singing before them and right when we walked in I saw it was CALLUM AND he started talking about his experience on AGT and how it changed his whole life and than he sang this song - I had been obsessed over his version and him singing it live was JUST as good his sister was backstage too:’)
"I've never ever, in all the years I've done this show, heard a guy with the talent you've got" -Simon Cowell. Pretty much the greatest compliment you can get as a singer...and constantly checking on his sister during his moment...he really deserves it.
sad thing is so many singers these days sound like absolute shit compared to this on stage. this guy sounds almost like he's lip syncing it's so good. look at Selena Gomez on stage. she sounds like shit compared to this.
Absolutely spot on. Stunning live performance, hope he gets a great management team behind him - deserves to be a star with those vocals, so many inferior so called singers compared to him who have made millions - hope he makes it big !!!!!
This has got to be so tough, to watch your little sister go through that and have to ignore all big brother instincts and go on stage right after her. You can see his emotion in the eyes even before singing. There's alot of love there.
Maybe just me but I think he was giving Simon the stinky eye,he wasn't happy with Simon at the beginning. I think it actually helped him,the raw emotion he was feeling fueled the song for him and he owned it.
Imagine for her, it has to be tough to be told you aren't good enough to go into the next round but see your brother get the golden buzzer and is now a successful recording artist. It always makes me sad that one of their dreams came true and the other one had to step away from the spotlight
Haha during that moment I too thought that. I was thinking about how they have to clean that up, and somehow put it back in the dispensers that must be up there in the roof section everytime. xD
Honestly I don't like it when singers throw all this "vocal backflips" throughout the whole song, because less is more. Calum progressively revealed more and more skill as the song went by, until it came to that perfect final note, which was absolutely fantastic; THAT's how you build up and perform a song. This is as good as it gets, not giving him the golden buzzer would have been a crime.
Sorry, but I cannot second that. It might just be me, but I tend to watch people's eyes. Cos they really express feelings. In my opinion his mum felt very eager of her son succeeding after her daughter unfortunately failed to make it through. Nevertheless: He did not only "dance on his own", he MADE it on his own. And brilliantly so.
KaNiya Matthews she got 4 no’s and went on right before Calum. They cut her off not even ten words into the song then gave her a chance at another song and cut her off not even half way through. Then Calum had to go on right after all that had happened and got a golden buzzer from Simon the one that bashed Jade, Calum’s sister. Sorry that was long but the story is so sad and needs to be shared because Calum wouldn’t have starting singing without jade and just😭😭
They each just focus on one thing the whole performance who you should be giving props to is the director/editor that called out what shots to go to, but seeing as this was an audition it's likely it's not live and he had time and a team to put this together
Calum is a true artist: he didn't just sing the lyrics perfectly, but you can actually hear him putting his soul into the song. you can feel the emotion as he sings. That's a true artist, expressing his emotions through song.😭😍
And all this directly after her sister being trown out after just 10 seconds into her song, woth 4 no's, the pressure was enormous, pulling this off is even more of a performance!
I have seen this, 50 times (at least) , the funny thing is, that my idols are, Neil Young , Pink Floyd , Deep Purple ...... A juwel is a juwel , and this performance is a perfect diamond , pure emotion , a golden sword in the heart.
The thing I just love about his audition is that it was a sheer presentation of his real talent 'his voice and singing'. It wasn't adorned with any dance, performance or the use of stage. Judges and audience listening to him silently was a beautiful and rare phenomenon which itself showed how truly powerful his talent is. Simon simply pressing the golden buzzer without any further ado and Calum reacting in a most humble way possible was simply a perfection. Him probably having the most important moment of his life, but still being concerned with his sister being Ok shows how amazing as a brother he is. Still one of the best BGT auditions I remember. Everything about this audition is simply worth praising.
Welcome to "Britains Got Talent, the game!" Please, select your difficulty: - Begginer: Sign up for BGT - Easy: Got 4 no's - Medium: Got 3 no's and 1 yes - Hard: Got 3 yeses and 1 no - Expert: Got 4 big fat yeses - Professional: Be a surprise like Paul Potts or Suzan Boyle - Insane: Got a golden buzzer - Nightmare's insane: GOT A GOLDEN BUZZER FROM SIMON
Golden Buzzer from David is Easy/Medium. Hello? That one amazing lady with the "I'm in the kitchen cooking (I'm American Idk what this word is) grumble?
This is so surreal, his recorded version has been on my sleeping playlist on Spotify for years. I've listened to the song at least 100 times throughout the years. To then discover that it came from this audition is so incredible. What an amazing moment.
i didnt knew him im just watching random singing auditions and when I saw this, im like what "this guy is the singer of " you are the reason" and discovered this audition is where he came from
I think it's sweet the way Calum kept looking towards his sister for approval, not that he actually needed it but the fact that he was constantly thinking about how his sister may feel about the situation. It's nice
To this day, possibly the greatest audition in television talent show history. Watching this for the first time was surreal because you knew this guy was gonna be the winner and would go on to be a star. Awe-inspiring and showstopping
He sang like it was the Finals. Full of feelings and the whole audience is totally mesmorised by his voice. No one is breathing hard for fear of missing a single word or meaning.. 👏👏👏
Okay he’s really good, don’t get me wrong, but I feel really bad for his sister. Like imagine going home and everybody is celebrating Callum’s golden buzzer victory, while Jade is probably having a really bad day with her 4 no’s. I just feel so sorry for her bc she had a great voice too and deserved better. (I like how I’m voicing my opinion to this 3 years late lol)

+QueenPBK LOL ... you nailed it right on, and expressed what I was thinking too! Given it happened 3 years ago, you could have given us a ho-hum kind of opinion. Instead you gave a thoughtful and honest comment. Yay! 👍😃
My favorite part beyond the singing is when you can see him telling his sister that he is sorry for her while they hug, and her shaking her head to say no dont worry about me, this is your moment.
nobody survives even one bit The hitman would probably take one good look at Simon and commit suicide before Simon will give them a scorn look and some ridicule.
jatinder mohan I felt some hesitance in him when he got the golden buzzer, I would too bru, I would feel so damn bad if I succeeded right after my friend failed and was crushed
I’ve heard other versions, but this is by far the best. Even better than the original. I’m not surprised this song made him famous. Beautiful and passionate.
Btw I love the blonde judge (sorry, I don’t know her name), but i adore her expression during auditions. You can read her face and it reflects what we’re all feeling :)
He is so hansome. Beautiful smile and his voice just makes me melt. I would go to everyone of his concerts..!! I Love me some Calum Scott and his sister Jade is awesome to wish she couldve gotten through as well... but her big brother did it for them both...
+Midnight bliss I think it´s hard to even compare. This is quite a new song and in my opinion a very very good interpretation. Both versions are awesome but so different. For a show like Britain´s got talent, this one is a quite rare moment of really great talent!
Thanks Respectfully❤️💕💜 I have come a long way to this great point and right from the very beginning you my fan have been solidly there for me , it's been a landslide but we pull through together ... your love and support are amazing and I appreciate every little effort .. always believe in yourself to achieve your goals ... Have you been to my concert before?
Still get goosebumps watching this audition years later after seeing it so many times. He is just such a talented vocalist. This seriously may be the best audition I've ever seen on any talent driven or singing show.
Calum, the sister and the mother, there are all so lovable! You see how proud the mother is. You see how the sister is happy with her brother. And Calum... Calums heart sang and our hearts opend. I wish i could hug him. Thx for this AMAZING Moment! wow.
*So Funny!!* @1:10 look at Simon's smug look? Then @2:05 he's like, "Hmmm...ok??" Then @3:05 he's like, "Oh hell yeah, what have we got here?!" Then @4:15 he's seeing, "$$$$$"!!!!
Exactly. That’s the look of Simons face. It’s sadness. Almost everyone can relate to this song and Calum took everyone on an emotional retrospective of their lives in this short time span. One in 100,000,000 can do that at an audition the way he did.
I can only imagine how amazing it must have been for their mother to be sitting in the audience and hearing and watching that entire space of people stand in applause for her son - and THEN to watch him get a Golden Buzzer!
