@UFOsAreRealArea51 Were your feelings hurt because I didn't mention your boy? Reed was definitely a top-notch receiver but, he was not even at the same level of strength and dominant physicality as those two. Fitzgerald was 20+lbs heavier, an inch taller, while Megatron was 40-45+lbs and 3-inches taller. Defenders would fall-off them like banana-peels in traffic. Nice try though!
I like Pac-Man Jones lol. No homo, but it's the lore to the name that makes it good lol. The reason I say "no homo" because the video game Pac-Man it's every ball that's in his vicinity, hence how Pac-Man Jones got the nickname. He was pretty much in a sense eating every ball that was thrown in his vicinity lol.
@@KL-xe5ecI didn't. He made it easy bc everybody going to force passes. Only takes one bad play to lose. Tillman shut him and moss down if you knew how to use bears
Vernon Davis ran a 4.38 at 240lbs at the combine. That same combine Sinorice Moss ran the same exact time at the combine and he was 180lbs. Its possible to be that big and still run that fast. CJ was a legit beast
All I know is we as Lions fans were beyond blessed to have a great player and a great person to represent what we are about. Thank you Calvin "Megatron" Johnson!!
Barry Samders and Calvin Johnson are two players who I can watch the same highlights of hundreds of times and never get tired of. Calvin Johnson would be triple teamed and still be open because he was just that tall and that fast. You could never stop him from catching the ball, you could only try and stop him from getting the touchdown. And Barry Sanders was the best guy on a last place team. He would get the handoff and immediately there were 4 opposing players in the backfield. Barry would juke, spin, hurdle, stiff arm and smash through defenders only to come up losing a yard. But it was the prettiest yard you ever saw lost. I wish he played longer, he was a joy to watch play the game.
lmao you mean oakland? Johnson went 2 overall after Jamarcus Russell. Both teams were pretty bad throughout Johnson's entire career, so nobody really got what anyone deserved lol. Would've been cool to see CJ end his career with another team that had a shot at winning something.
@@Deewill7070 after him explaining what went down in the organization was down right foolishness.. how you give the QB the wrong film to study... He had his problems sure but they didn't help either
@@Lamar0305 honestly the whole era Id like to think was the best of football.. swagger was diff too. We seen guys from Tomlinson and peterson to Brees, Manning and Brady, to polumalu, dawkins Taylor.. and so many more
I'm a biased lions fan, but gimme Calvin over moss or rice. 6 5 jacked, 240 lbs 4.3 speed 40 something inch vertical great hands and crisp routes. He's what you'd get if you could spit out prototypical players from a machine. What a monster he was
wtf you talking about, dudes in nearly every top 5 WR list ever. the only people that ever consistently get put ahead of him is rice and moss, and thats because rices career numbers utterly destroy anyone thats ever played, and moss is the only player in NFL history to be the main weapon on two record breaking offenses for most points ever scored in a season. after those two, its always a toss up between megatron, fitzgerald, and TO
@blueleader392 It was also a different owner, they finally got passed to a member of the Ford family that seems to understand how to give a shit without being a complete meddling dunce.
I was sad and confused the day he retired but as i am older now and understand all the things he has talked about i understand 100%. One of my favorite players to ever watch.
@@WaffleHouse2475% is really unsustainable. It’s bodybuilder levels of body fat when they are cutting just before a competition. It’s not healthy or beneficial to be that low.
@@mlee4467 and the last two years he was at GT they was running the dam veer option and He still averaged like 80 yards a game. Smh the shit was ridiculous 🤦. If had of went to UGA we'd a been unbeatable 07-08
Calvin Johnson is just an absolute legend. One of my favorite players of all time sucks he retired early but he was unbelievable every time he stepped on the field
@@DiMotherShipnah talent wise Jerry is better he ran the entire route tree Calvin couldn’t and Jerry made 3 first team all pro ha Calvin 3 so no Jerry is the mohterfuckiig goat
Calvin Johnson was just like we all say a freak of nature. There was honestly nothing you could do with even if your best corner held him down for a couple plays.
I was a Ford field watched him go up back corner end zone against 3 DBs he shed them off like fleas it was most amazing thing I've seen at a sporting event
I never seen a WR like him idc what nobody say 6ft5 235wt an run a 4.3 Run past you jump over you injuries messed this man career up an he’s still top 10 in my receiver category
Calvin Johnson was build different, dude was just a animal .. I’m not a Lions fan but when they played I would be hooked to my tv like “ Yo megatron bout to shit on the DBs “
I watched this man jump for an under thrown ball at GT. He bent over in front of the db while in the air and caught the ball. He was behind the defender. I couldn’t believe what I saw. The db had the ball intercepted and this man used the most insane body control I’ve ever seen in sports. If I’m not mistaken he did it again in the nfl.
Panthers actually could've had a similar line up if we redrafted... realistically DeVante Adams x DK Metcalf at wide & Arian Foster > Jacobs at RB 🥹🏆🏆🏆
It’s funny at Georgia Tech. He had the worst quarterback I’ve ever seen as far as throwing the ball. That’s why most fans that don’t follow college football did not realize how great he was and was gonna be.
For the young kids that didnt get to watch him play, this dude was an absolute UNIT… imo could have been the GOAT receiver had he played longer… Megatron is a legend
Man I was pissed when he was drafted by the Lions as a Packers fan. Bro I knew for at least the next 8-10 years we were screwed trying to stop him!😂😂😂😂😂
Freak of nature. Generational athlete. Rare specimen. Abnormal. Elite. There really weren't enough ways to describe how ridiculous Calvin was. To be that big and fast with talent was truly a sight to see in the NFL for a decade. Very few players fit that mold. Even fewer that were actually driven and not lazily relying on their pure athleticism.
Randy was a freak but Calvin was a MONSTER. Bigger than Randy ran just about as fast jumped higher and didn't take plays off. teams literally put multiple DBs on him at the line of scrimmage
@@BrandinBoyd megatron is amazing. But Moss was more challenging to guard at every level. Moss - also wasn’t time with a laser. Its levels. Calvin is right there though.
Your comment speaks to how great Moss was. Multiple defenders on the line for Megatron. Moss had dbs 15 yards back (because he was so fast) and double and sometimes triple coverage knowing what route he was going to run and still couldn't stop him. Moss never had a great quarterback (Culpepper wasn't actually all that great) until Brady when he was past his prime and you saw what he did. Just imagine a whole career with that luxury (rice). Both were great in different ways and it can be left at that, but Moss isn't a level below Megatron they are at least equals. How man receiver have a catch style named after them?
Megatron , TO , Moss , Ocho cinco , Larry Fitzgerald , Anquon Bolden , Steve Smith , Julio Jones , Antonio Brown of the old before the cte all were great football players that put in work on the field every game these guys went out every Sunday and out on a show for us I’m glad I got to see greatness play because we will never get an era of great talent like this again 💯🙏🏾✊🏾🫡💪🏾
@@thawkereynoldsYou’re bugging u better go back and watch. He was the person to hold it down while Troy roamed the field. If he gets a clean shot he’s gonna put ya best receiver out of the game or he won’t be going over the middle no more for the rest of the game. He wasn’t super athletic he was the gritty guy
Ion wanna be that guy but it has the auction block vibe. The whole aura of the combine is suspect. Dudes in tights running and jumping for a new potential owner
@@marksimmons.SolidSimmieyou’re right, it does. Difference is, these guys actually make the money themselves instead of a slave trader, and it’s millions of dollars.
@@markbrown2686he fasho the goat he only played 8 year wat if he played 12 years he already got receiving records moss was not better rice was not better it's like with Barry he the goat rb just retired early but Barry and Megatron always will only be Detroit lions
Now why you wanna show love to a guy that never won anything the greatest of all time player that be the be the GOAT 🐐 Jerry Rice all time touchdowns receptions and receiving yards 3 Superbowls you want me to stop 🛑 are do you kneed more convincing
Dude was literally the definition of BUILT DIFFERENT. Imagine if they had put him at TE he would've 1000% been unstoppable. We all know there wasn't gonna be any damn thing a LB or safety could've done with him.
Mans was a complete cheat code and my all time favorite WR... nobody past or present had fools doubling them up before the ball was even snapped. That's how DOMINANT dawg was
I wanted to see Calvin play for a real team for a few years during his career. Detroit was trash, but Calvin Johnson was great. I remember him during his time in highschool at Sandy Creek, then at Georgia Tech, he played the game without controversy and remained humble, yet dominant.
His medicinal business fire af too! Megatron, Detroit was and is blessed to have you. You on the sidelines and Media reppin us now all the time means a lot to the young guns! Keep on being a great role model. You helping people get jobs! Even at the combine lol that was great!
Moss played with a hof wr Chris Carter u couldn't put all the attention on Moss Megatron played with nobody and tripled team and still got crazy numbers
Just because he retired early doesn't make moss better 😂and moss was average for like 4 years until Brady saved him there isn't a more physically dominant receiver than Megatron
Him and Stafford will go down as one of the greatest duos in nfl history they were made to play with each other stafford had and arm that could get the ball anywhere Calvin was open on the field nearly unstoppable even with three guys on him
Would've loved to see a prime Megatron with this current Detroit team. A Lotta ppl didn't even get to see him nationally cuz those Detroit teams didn't get a lot of prime time games but he was a WHOLE MONSTER
Calvin was a menace. That blacked out visor was a different animal. As a detroiter, i feel bad for him and Barry Sanders. Two of the best to ever play the game and had to play for possibly the worst run sports franchise of all time
Just an unstoppable player. Like Barry, it is too bad the Lions could never put together a competitive team. His playoff highlights would have been incredible. But as long as he is satisfied and healthy, that is all that matters.
The Lions Organization/Ownership made two of the Greatest Football Players of All-time Retire Early(i don't care what nobody says not even them cuz We know the Deal) yet they still give such Classy reasons why, which speaks to their Top notch character. I'm still salty about it!😂...but what makes both of them Extra Supreme Cool, is they still show so much Love to the City, Other Sports teams the Fans & People in general from the "D"...Hats Off To Megatron & Barry all-day every-day no doubt!💯💙💪🏿✊🏿✌🏿😎
It's weird how pro sports full of freaks to begin with can have an absolute freak of nature like this still. Like everyone's already a physical specimen and then you have someone like Megatron come along, crazy athlete and a seemingly cool dude.
The cleat thing worked in his favor. I remember watching the telecast and the hype was insane, it looked like decided last minute to run and blazed a 4.35
