I love your honesty, down to earth commentary and priceless inputs from dad. I love what you’re doing together & your genuine close commitment to each other. I really enjoy watching what’s happening on your farm. God bless and best wishes from Melbourne Australia. Cheers.
Good content men! My father and I have worked and farmed together my whole life. People who have that opportunity dont know how lucky they are. We live in Michigan, but have friends in bridgwater, sd. Have hunted pheasants there for years. Keep up the good work. Enjoy watching your channel.

Glad you are alive and able to be doing chores! It's a privilege to work with your Dad - enjoy it while you can. You have a beautiful farm and family with good values. We love watching - and in these crazy times its good to be able to see family together. God Bless!
Why do you have to cull a cow with no calf.? Can you not hand milk a cow, and slowly reduce this until she's dry again,? Is it that this is too much work, could it not be a surrogate to a twin or a calf with a mother that can't feed it's calf for what ever reason.? Or am I missing something.? (I know nothing 🧐). I'm learning every time I watch one of your vids. Keep 'em coming. Love you guys.🥰🥰 Rich UK 🥰🥰
It's good seeing others getting animals to adopt the the young of others that wouldn't be able to look after there own. When I used to help with sheep when I was young we did the same sort of thing, if there was any with still birth we would make them adopt a lamb from one that had triplets or was to old
Put the dog close to second calf heifer pen while she’s needing to bond to another calf. Sometimes dog helps mothering instinct kicks in quicker helping the imprinting process.
I have a question about your farm, if you don't mind: Your farm is referred to in a plural sense, implying that your farm is multiple land parcels in one. And you sometimes say "North farm", etc. I've seen farm real estate listings that show multiple land parcels that are all in the same offering, but are not all contiguous, but still close together. Well, is yours multiple land parcels in one? If so, how did it get to be that way?
Over time in your farming career it is not uncommon to add acres to your operation. Contiguous is very nice but it is not always an option. Often times when you buy an old farmstead you continue to call it by the previous owners name in order for the people working in your operation to recognize what piece of land you are referring to.
That calf under the tree reminded me of the newborn that was hunkered in my drain pipe supply pile snoozing out of the wind and watching me work in the mud for an afternoon.
I'm75year old Geezer From Pendleton, New York. Always wanted to be a Farmer, But it never happened although I was Fortunate to work on Farms many times in my Early Life, I Love the Great Relationship you have with you Dad, Cole. Don't ever let it slide, Life is too Short. Super Great Videos, And a great Sense Of Humor!!
Great video!!!seems like y’all are really really busy!!!at least you have work outside to do,I am stuck in the house bored because of the quarantine!!!😂😂😂
"My spring break got extended by a week. I think I'm going to Mexico." Don't worry after you finish out calving season I think you still have a week or two before the borders open back up. Then again you may have recorded this before Mexico said "Stay the hell out".
Be thankful you live out in the boon docks. You're much safer there right now than in town cooped up with other people. Here in Louisiana, we've lost 16 people (14 in the Metro New Orleans area) to the COVID 19 virus in the past week. I think if the human race survives this epidemic, you'll see a lot more folks leaving the cities and heading back to the country to put a little space between them and their neighbors!
Hey have another question for you buddy hopefully you can be my go to for question do u brand your cows and should I I've seen it but I'm subscribed to u and a few other channels like yours but your more around my age and I like the way u do your stuff around the farm so I wanna ask u
We do not brand our cattle. In Eastern SD we have smaller pastures and it is easier to watch over our cattle and make sure they don't get mixed up with other farmer/rancher's cattle
Really appreciate you putting out more frequent videos while you are home on extended spring break. We are mostly house-bound so looking for entertaining and interesting ways to spend time. Think I've gone through all your videos so think I'll go repeating some. Pray the corona virus passes you by.
The rest of your school year is probably going to be at home working for the farm instead of school let’s hope they don’t make everyone make it up if this gets under control
Okay, I sit corrected Steel water tub... Crystalx Tub. Have you ever tried " Orphan No More" on your donor calf??? Or does Dad know the art of trickery to make your 2 year heifer accept calf as her own.
@@SonneFarms No not a farmer, I had to Google what the difference was between a heifer and cow when I started watching your channel a few weeks ago. I am no expert just never heard the word before.
How old do you calve out your first time heifers? Mine are usually calving out when they are 2 years old but some farms in my area hold them back another year cuz they say it's easier on them.
