This is the best Calypso Showcase Interview by Alvin Daniell featuring guest David Rudder from back in 1991. Hands Down 👐. This was departing from his 1991 Rough And Ready era going straight directly into his 1992 Frenzy era the following year. To put out a great 11 track album on his Lypsoland label. Which is similar to his 1989 album The Power And The Glory. That had featured 11 tracks with great hook lines from serious commentary songs to party songs. You can't go wrong with working with ace arranger like Pelham Goddard band conductor: of Charlie's Roots. He always had that particular special Soca Beat in arranging his music for artists and bands working with him. Well Done Mr. Alvin Daniell. These archives are like History of Gold to Treasure.
David Michael Rudder a Calypsonian who I will always associate with Charlie's Roots- brass band from the 70s (1977 to be exact). He has some classics "Bahia Girl" & "The Hammer" 🔨 (1986 Calypso Monarch- Young Kings & Road March). Calabash (1985), Calypso Music 🎼🎶 (1987) from Charlies' Roots 10th Anniversary album. Haiti (1988)- Haiti, Engine Room- David gives you the history & insight into pan 🥘 music 🎵- pioneers (iron man Cory, Bobby Mohammed, Pelham Goddard). 1989- my favorite that year after "One More Officer" was "Song For A Lonely Soul" from Power & Glory album. In the 90s' he continues with songs like "Ballad Of Hulsie X"- lamenting on Hulsie Bhaggan (1995) & Tales From A Strange Land- Madman Rant (1996). There are some songs I didn't hear - 1990 is one of them. Sorry!!- Will listen to it. High Mas (1998). The last tune I can think of is "Trini To The Bone" (2003) with Carl Jacobs of of Carl & Carol Jacobs fame. After that, I lost track of his music 🎼🎶 David continue to do your thing!!
