In my mid-twenties, I’m 71 now, I got to fly with Freddy Ludtke, in his 145hp Monocoupe with which he performed aerobatic routines around the Pacific Northwest in the seventies and eighties. He was an incredible pilot in an incredible airplane. I still remember being a passenger as he practiced his routine early in the morning prior to his afternoon performance. I felt that I had stepped back in time. In the air time was in the moment. I got to fly with him on two separate occasions. A double gift. He later helped me locate my Piper J-3 Cub, which I owned for several years. He was a teacher, a terrific human being and an outstanding pilot. His Monocoupe is still around somewhere I think. This video brought back all of these memories and emotions. Thank you so much.
Beautiful airplane. My dad came up flying all the old classics. He learned to fly after WWII in a PT19. He always talked about the Monocoupe and clipped wing. Always loved these and aircraft of this era. Wish you blue skies and smooth fields for many hours.
Dear Brian, That is one of the nicest restorations around. You can see more of them here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/Launch_ThatThey.htm Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ Brian FitzGerald - The Sky Surfer
Hello Brian, I made an exact scale model of this airplane in quarter scale. I would like to send some pictures of it to Cam, is there any way you can have me send them? -Jack
That's a tough one right now. I am severely pressed for time. Cam lives in the Kansas City area and I haven't spoken with him for about 6 months. Please try to find him first. If you can't, contact me and I'll give it a shot.
