Instead of the last subtraction. Just minus small from big, add 180 and divide by 2. You can also go .010 from max lift on each side. Same results, with less rotating
It will be a while I suspect, and I don't think I have slotted cams in the stock FJ1100, but if I do I'll be back for the cheat sheet! Excellent video, more please!
Im doing my first rebuild. 2007 GSX-R 750. I'm trying to get every bit of horsepower I can get out of the heads, because that's where the power is won or loss, from what I've gathered. Forgot to knab me a dial indicator. Ive already written down your cheat sheet. Im willing to spend all the time to detail the heads the best I can. Would you recommend knife edging the crank at all? What about opening up certain oil or coolant galleries? This is my 3rd video of yours and inplan on watching as much as I can before going out to my shop & continuing on. I want to put a 1k intake cam on my 750 (& my exhaust to intake) but i dont know what years im limited to. Theres a 2009 1K intake cam with an Ape Adjustable sprocket on eBay for less than the Ape sprocket. I know I may have to trim the rom counter thing. Still trying to decide if i want to go High Comp or Turbo. Im leaning towards High Comp because of funds. Never done a turbo, but want to. Oh yeah, im planning on using this Duplic-Color Anodized Blue for my heads. They have green, red, blue, yellow & some other colors. Green, was hoping for a Kawi lime green) was the worst. Red & Blue were the best two. You can spray it on netallic like surfases and for items that arent shiny, they have a metallic base. Autozone & O'Reillys has it. Suppose to be high heat too. I hope it lasts!
Hey there, Im in the proses learning how to degree my cams. However, I wanted to ask you some questions. My bike is set up for road racing and I know people set up cam timing to move the power around. I was just wondering if you can help me with some additional information.
Personally i do all that as soon as i start making more power and really only racing. Kinda like if it no longer has to live on the limiter for a half hour, or stay together for 60k miles
I have a 04 gsxr1000 with a 08 head I’m copying your build same turbo all can I run a 04 intake cam on my ex degree it at 105/107 will it do good or do I need web cams I want about 400hp
My first time reassembling a motorcycle engine with a stock nonadjustable Cam. I think I know the answer but I want to ensure I don't screw this up. I assume I don't need to worry about degreeing the Cam in my case?
The number i want to land on is whatever the cam manufacturer recommends....usually within 2 either way. How i get to that number is by adjusting the sprockets. You'll have to do an initial degree run/ check, to see where you are after you did the initial install, then adjust from there
You just need to get off the "dwell" of the lobe. You are just measuring from a point of real measurable movement. And as long as you use the same number on both sides of zero....you can get accurate measurements. I wouldn't go less that .050 or you may get non repeatable results being closer to that dwell area. Dwell is just the area where the crank rotates, and the cam is on the base circle with no valve movement for a short part of the rotation
