It's a great song, but this song is more old school country than the crap that country music has become. Had this song been released in 2000, it would have done way better for sure.
You have to accept a check from disney in order to be recognized. Sad since 09 when disney started buying radio stations and TV stations in america. Force fed junk ever since... Remember bunny ear antenna? Not since disney wanted control of what you see
The line “I’d rather you hate me than not understand” is really meaningful, it really shows the mindset that many people are missing, that’s why it’s my favorite lyric in this song 🥰
Cam said in an interview the scene where Diane and Cam meet was the first time Cam met the actress playing her, and that you can’t hear the dialogue but she’s saying “Did you know he was married?” and “Did he tell you he loved you?”. The part at the end where Diane buys her a drink is really powerful too. It shows Diane understood Cam got her heart broken too. Really emotional video I hope it wins some awards!
@@fireslayerdad I know! Both of them did a great job, the actress playing Diane was really incredible IMO, she really brought the character to life. I thought it was interesting to know what she was saying when meeting up with Cam/Jolene.
It's so interesting and refreshing to see a song from the "other woman's" point of view. We tend to villainize them when we find out a partner has cheated, even when the only real person to blame is the cheater himself. It's good to be reminded that most of the time they don't even know about the infidelity and mean no harm to us
It perfectly mirrors the nature of Jolene, where I stead of tearing the other woman down, she is complimenting her and pleading instead of threatening. Here the other woman had no idea, and would rather face the anger of a wronged wife then let her go on being cheated-- because you know this dude is going to do it again! In both songs, the narrator is building up the other woman and pleading to be heard.
It's easier to mad at a stranger than your loved one and even if they've betrayed you it takes time for your heart and brain to get in the same library, let alone the same page.@@willowtree3602
They don't want to accept that their significant other is the piece of shit that they don't must be hesitant to let go of. They want to put the wrong on someone seducing them like it makes it better.
Anyone else hearing this song and thinking. Is 'Jolene' telling her side of the story? It's like a reaction to that iconic country hit! Love this song. I sing a long everytime I hear it!❤
She will be, once she stops singing the truth and truth hurts. You might have handful of people who are not doing what she sings about in this song now - a - days.
My name is Diane and the young girl that did this to me tried to say that she didn't know that me and my ex were together. She lied because SHE was friends with my niece and they both spent the night at our apartment. But I am glad we split...but she never apologized. I love the lyrics to this song!!! It made me think that maybe he made her feel this way.
Cam You're welcome Cam..Keep being you and singing and writing from the heart. By the way I would love to see you a duet with Scotty McCreery or Jason Aldean..Much love from Wilson, NC
@@monsterzero1965 Jolene is the woman who the wife feels is out to steal her husband. Diane is the mistress explaining to the wife being cheated on. And..2 Black Cadillacs is the wife & the mistress getting together and murdering the dirty cheating bastard!! And..THAT'S what these songs have in common.
BOOM! I am blown away!!!! This is the song I have been looking for!!! Cam you are a legend in my eyes!! As a mindset mentor, working predominantly with mistresses, I continually look for ways to show others that the "other woman" is not always a villain, and is often caught in a web, not of her own making. Thank you Cam! Love, love, love this song! ❤❤❤
Diane Lyrics!🤘😎 [Chorus] Oh, I promise I didn't know he was your man I would have noticed a gold wedding band Diane I'd rather you hate me than not understand Oh, Diane [Verse 1] You pick the time and the place Dont know how much this hurts I gave him my heart to break Now I know he broke yours first Lyin' right there in my bed While he was lying to you Believing the words that he said How could we be such fools? Cam!!! I just have to say, this video gave me chills and that rarely ever happens to me. I already loved this song, and I knew the video would be good, but the storyline here made me love this song even more! Great job, and to top it all off, this video is already #20 trending in less than 24 hours! Proud fan. :)
Wow, totally awesome song!!!! I'm sure there are a lot of women who can relate to this song. Cam, thanks for shedding the light on a thus subject!!!!👏👏
Me and my Mom used to listen to this song all the time. We completely forgot about this song about 1 year ago. I just remembered it from reading a book with the name Diana in it. It took 15 tries to remember the lyrics and try to find the song. I finally finally found it.
Cam live is a touching experience. Super vocals and lyrics with spunk and honesty. Want to see her again and enjoy her performance in those yellow outfits.
Man this song is so underrated... I fell in love with it when I heard it on Spotify's playlist New Music Friday, so it had just come out. Since then I haven't stopped listening to it
