I'm keeping in touch with my sources in case anything changes. So sad to see the Camaro gone again. What are your thoughts? - CJP

Well i hate to see it go but i still say car sales should jump big time if they had a bigger trunk like 16.2 and more back seat space and headroom and room for your feet

I'm gonna be honest with you. the Camaro was priced higher than the Mustang,and Challenger. when they introduced the 6th gen SS, they were priced way beyond the 5th gen. they need to be cheaper.if GM lowers the price, you will see a significant change

The 2018 was the superior model.... my ZL1 is amazing .... I agree with the Camaro sells dropping is simply this .... economically it doesn’t make sense for the average person to make that purchase .... I’ll say this I don’t daily my ZL1 I daily my Silverado .... also marketing sucks to promote the Camaro platform .... seems they’re pushing the C8 ... good video

Bumpergate wasn’t to blame. GM saw the writing in the wall for the past couple of years now.

Great Vid and good content Casey. It's too bad CHEVY hasn't properly push the 6Gen Camaro and recently provided very questionable front end styling. . The ZL1 is a performance bargain and also packs the new 10speed auto. They need to learn some Marketing from Dodge... who has pushed the same car since 2008 and have Killer commercials. Makes me want one of the many Challenger cars and I am Chevy guy.

Sean Holley Dodge kills it in ads for their cars. They also do full product line-up shots in many of their ads. GM’s marketing is just awful. Thanks for watching my man! - CJP

The 5th gen Camaro was designed and built in Australia using the same platform as the Holden Commodore
@CombustionChamber

The 5th Gen is a Zeta car, which Holden came up with, but the car was built at the Oshawa Car Assembly manufacturing plant in Canada. Thanks for watching Firing Order and leaving a comment. - CJP

Back in the 60's ,70's Camaros and Mustangs were very popular in Jamaica but not so today,the fuel crisis of the 70's kill them off. When the classic style Mustang (was it 2005)was introduced I was excited and even so the Camaro, I just like the classic 60's restyling but they never took off in Jamaica. I've only seen one of those Mustangs on the road but I have evidence their are more but as for the Camaro I have only seen one and heard of no more,I too never liked the restyled front . In my town their are alot of BMW's, Benz and not to mention Japanese sport cars. I'm a Mustang guy but I do respect the Camaro.

Owned a V6 1998 camaro as well. Engine was reliable, the rest not so much. Also had a 1980 Berlinetta with the 305. Think the problem with new camaros is that the bar for muscle cars right now is so high, not only in terms of performance but aesthetics and ergonomics. The appearance of the camaro seems a bit crude/unfinished/mixed up compared to the mustang. Just doesn't come off as a great cohesive outward design. Even my 2006 GTO looked better. And, this may seem odd, but I found the cabin to be a bit claustrophobic on a long drive in rental late model camaro due to the short side windows.

I agree with you that consumers prefer SUVs due to their size, my sisters traded up to SUVs because they are elevated higher, can see more of the road, and they FEEL safer in them because there is "more car" if you know what I mean. I have thrown out the suggestion that perhaps GM could bring back the F-body yet build it on an SUV platform. How would this work? Make the body larger, give the consumer the space they once had in a car like the Chevelle, make the car more utilitarian, find a way to squeeze out fuel economy with European/German quality yet not sacrifice on performance, and make such a vehicle every bit as nimble as you would expect a sports car to be and especially when upgraded to a V8 for muscle car performance. The next area to target is the styling. I have stated it before and been attacked for it but the fifth-gen and six-gen Camaros were too damn boxy in appearance. Any attempt to recapture the 1960's styling was lost with the unnecessary front grill style and lower ground effects. I wish I was running GM because I would DEMAND they research what went wrong with these Camaros and try to launch a campaign asking the consumers about their impressions with the latest Camaros and whether they would like something different. Furthermore, it is easy to make the argument that the fifth-generation Camaro sold so well when you eliminated the Pontiac Firebird from taking some of that market from the Camaro. So, for me, if you want me to drive a new Camaro, it better have Firebird inspired styling and there is only one way to do that, looking back at the past for this "cross-over" SUV platformed Seventh-gen Camaro. best4thgencamaros.blogspot.com/p/1989-california-iroc-camaro-concept_813.html Hopefully someone can inspire GM to keep the Camaro going. The mentality of getting rid of a car line because it is not selling is foolish when you can always research why it is not selling and work to improve upon it. However, that is GM for you! I wonder if this mentality holds true for the Corvette, a car that is hardly practical and only a few can afford and which lacks the market that the Camaro has, especially when you can market it as high performance passenger vehicle with plenty of storage for it's type. This is more-so when you make the body larger and more spacious to seat more passengers of varying heights and sizes where-as a Corvette would be more limiting. Again, if GM makes some tweaks in how they design the Camaro and try to capture the 1980's concept better using those SUV size wheels on a larger body using an SUV platform then GM would easily have something brand new that no other manufacturer will have and which taps into the current trend of consumers wanting bigger vehicles and more room, almost like a return to the muscle car days of the big body Chevelles.

Its sad to hear about this but from my perspective the 5th and 6th gen's just look too similar. Not a lot has changed with the basic shape of the car and at first glance it just looks like a mid gen face lift. I would have loved to see a complete redesign with a sleeker aerodynamic body for a 7th Gen now that there will be a niche open when Vette goes to mid engine.

Hopefully they change course. I loved the 5th Gen and don't have anything against the 6th, but I'd love to see a huge design step forward. Thank for watching! - CJP

Retro designs always garner attention, but lack staying power. 10 years of basically the same outer design has played out. The Camaro suffers from all of the same shortcomings it always had from it's conception in the 1960's. "It ain't no family car" has often been said. That's not a negative remark, just an acknowledgement any Camaro owner will attest to as fact. The Camaro didn't begin life as a "Secretary's car", as did the Mustang. Which helps explain why the Mustang has always had longevity. It's easier to drop big performance and power into a car that has broader appeal, than to take a performance car and weaken it down in hopes to reach a wider audience. Having said that, I am and always have been a fan of Camaro's. But I also understand the financial dynamics. GM just barely survived bankruptcy, and if it wishes to continue, it needs to sell vehicles. The Market demographics is different now-a-days, and less young people are interested in car ownership. Performance cars are priced way too high to generate much interest to them. They see what's in the school parking lot, and a $50,000+ Camaro is well out of their range. This wasn't so true back in the 60's where someone working a minimum wage job could afford a 69 SS Camaro, or even in the 70's and 80's. I don't think performance is dead, it's just transitioning into a different form. If the Camaro wishes to survive it's gonna have to adapt. Electric vehicles isn't a fad, they've been around longer than the internal combustion engine. Only now are technological advancements in metallurgy and energy storage capacity catching up. The Camaro despite whatever form it may take is never going to appeal to everyone, especially someone trying to raise a family. It is what is and always will be, but there again there's plenty of other cars on the road that can do the same.

Maybe, since everyone and his mother drives trucks and SUVs, GM will do like Ford and kill off all of their passenger cars excepting the Corvette and Camaro. Eliminating the Impala seemed like a sure sign. You never know.

I'm not totally against that idea. I loved the Holden Commodore they imported here as the Chevy SS, but never advertised, and Cadillac had some great power w/ the V Series cars. I just wish people in the U.S. didn't think overall size means that much. We actually had a Holden on the show. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6iQmSqacjLo.html&t - CJP
