I am an Indian and i really feel sorry for what Cambodia has gone through. The prince was such a awesum and handsome man. As we are from eastern India we share same race, religion( as am Hinayana Buddhist) I really fel as i am one among the cambodians!
My tear flows when I see this document. I imagine how would my nation look like if there was no war. The prosperity and the civilization of Cambodians. The city was well organized back then. I wish i could be born at that time and died before the Khmer Rouge came to power.
Our Father king gave a grateful life to all Cambodian and Cambodia... I wish I could go back to those yrs then enjoy how beautiful and peaceful country tat I had in life...
I am so happy to see the perfect past of CAMBODIA. I wish I was there for the peace and see beautiful people with smile :'-) But unfortunately everything today difference so far.
It is similar to history of Poland. We had been destroyed by Nazi Germany , and after that communism came to the power for a 45 years... which destroyed our link with our great ancestors and their ways. But remembering how it was one day, it is a chance to restore and evolve.
Please our government... Develop our country ... At least same as 1965.... Road... Building.. Look beautiful... It is because of law... The car park is very good view.. Better than now...
It is very very very beautiful city !!! Peace and quiet could be seen and heard through-out the nation .Khmer Peoples used to live the life as Buddhists, now not many of us care any more. People today have been poisoned with greed, all bad things they do every day become normal to them, and will be the bad habit for them and their children for generations to come. In the future, the word RELIGION will only be fake word from someone's mouth ! Only Meta-kakrona Thor person will be the real one !..
@The86416 Yes, most of the sites are still here. There have been improvments since I made Phnom Penh my home back in the late 90's. But infrastructure is really bad, traffic is jammed now almost all the time and Phnom Penh is WAY too crowded now. When I came, it was 1 million people, today, over 2.5 million people. The government had its chance to make some of the lakes into beautiful parks but have chose to fill them in and I suppose you have heard about that?
I'm a Cambodian, but I do realize how great Poland would be if the Nazi didn't invade them. They suffer a lot but in the end they are far better then Cambodian story since (I guess) they don't have internal conflict and they were united.
I love your thought; however, if you wanted to live during those delightful period, you would have to born in Jan 1954 (We gained independence from France in Nov1953), and then die in your age 15th in Dec 1969 before the occupation of Khmer Republic. LOLsss That would be too young, right??? Sorry, M just kidding! I hope we will work together to build a better nation in the future. When there is a hope, there is a way. I want to see the real civilisation of Cambodia before we go to heaven.
