As a retired person living in Cambodia, I did not think your video told the full story. On the flip side Cambodia can be a little costly if you are more than a passing tourist. Sure, street food is cheap, but who's going to settle for a bowl of noodles every night. Check out some of the major supermarkets, most items are imported and can rack up your shopping bill. Cars too are expensive, but gas is cheap. Properties and rent are on the increase and although cheaper than many foreign countries, they will cost you if you are looking for the standard you are probably used to. Utilities like water are very cheap, but electricity is expensive and one has to think twice about using the AC. Another thing here, yes Cambodia acepts USD$, but most stores are very picky about accepting it, unless it is a fresh note. Multiply times I have been declined, because the note may have a crease or small nick. This is not to put anybody off coming here or negative attitude to the country, but life overseas as a tourists view point, are not the same as being a resident. Seriously do your homework before thinking of retiring in a foreign land.

I've been to Cambodia for extended time multiple times. I can testify about the electricity cost, I have read that it's one of the most expensive in Asia. I stayed in a condo and I would have to top off the electricity every 2 weeks. I admit I run the AC whenever I'm home. It's cheaper to go out and explore the city than to stay home with the AC on. If you convert gasoline from litters to gallons and to USD, it comes up to almost the same as here in the US, I'm sorry to say gasoline is not cheaper. Cars are extremely expensive, about 2 to 2.5 times more than the US. In fact, most southeast Asian countries are. They tax heavily on anything imported. The most affordable car in Indonesia is a Toyota that is built in Indonesia, no import tax. Motorbikes, aka scooters are very affordable. If you're in Phnom Penh, use the tuk tuk through PassApp, it's very affordable and faster than a taxi. The traffic in all major city in southeast Asia is terrible. The fastest way to get around in Bangkok is the trains. Even with all the negatives, I'm still planning on retiring in southeast Asia in a few years. The positives outweigh the negatives by a long shot. Oh, I didn't mention the ladies. That alone would erase any negatives.

@@tonysaidhi IMO that is the mind set of most people the world over. Those who never leave their state or village. A comfortable pair of slippers in front of the TV. It's a safe place in this dangerous world ! 😆
