I have literally just purchased #cxa81 today I have been waiting for over a year to make the correct decision .I can’t wait to set it up.thanks for the info.
Another quality vid! *thumbsup* I just hooked up a axa25 to check out and WoW! for 25w under 400$ at that. What a nice sound.. bet these other Amps are very nice.
Am I in the right that the CXA81 (or the 61) has absolutely no balance / tone control? Like, at all? That seems like an oversight. At that point I might as well go with an AXA35 (power* is not a huge issue for me) plus a dedicated DAC with much better specs for the same kind of money. (EDIT: so the AXR100 seems like overkill too, especially since I listen to radio 0.0% of the time - the receiver part would be an absolute waste of money for me.)
I am definitely enjoying this amp in two-channel with the Klipsch RP-28OF an SVS 10-in power sub with 300 watt amp movie music scores dialogue and scare you out from your seat scenes enjoyable I purchased a better power cable and music is enjoyable and warm thank you Cambridge 🦁👑 The only thing that would make this receiver a powerhouse If it had pre-outs What a beautiful preamp with a gorgeous power amplifier
I wished he asked Tony what happened to the EVO power amps they promised before I bought into the EVo system - also the speakers shown on the image with the Edge Integrated are the Mordaunt Short Performance 6 Circa 2005
Why do you name FM 'old school" ??? It still DOES exist and is developing well, not disappearing. No DAB can take its place, anyway. Streaming?well, believe me or not, it cannot as well, although you can stream it while on a car,but it's not worth a while.
Anyone else notice that the BT range on the AXR100 is almost comically bad? As soon as I need the BT to go thru one wall, the range falls to 10ft or less. Never owned a CA before, so maybe that's just how they operate? Or maybe I got a bad one? Most BT and networked receivers nowadays have an actual 3-4" antenna, but this AXR only has a small BT nub, not much bigger than a USB dongle. I love the sound, but the abysmal range of this thing really kills the whole vibe... Anyone know if you can open it up and somehow swap out for a better BT antenna? I see CA makes one for their other models, but they dont list the AXR as a candidate for it
I have a Cambridge CXA81 and Cambridge CXN V2 with the Clearwayx chord cables with the DYNAUDIO Excite x14 voice sounds loud, the sound is nice, the picture comes out, do you know which speaker fits better or the same wattage :)
Is the CXA81 a step up from my Arcam A85 amp ? if so, what are the difference that I can expect, it's important that I can listen to this amp in my own home, as I run a Arcam A85 power amplifier too, which means I also need a pre-out, does the 81 have a pre-out ? Would the A81 be ok to partner my Arcam power amp ? Thank you.
Isn't the A85 an Integrated as well rated at around 85 wpc? If so they you would probably get better performance out of the CX81-class AB, very musical with great detail and nice warmth to the presentation. Plus, functionality with bluetooth and a DAC built in and XLR inputs. If not, the CX81 does have a pre-out so it can be used as a pre amp. However, great sounding integrated with lots of modern capabilities. You may be able to arrange a home demo:listenup.com/products/cambridge-audio-cxa81-integrated-amplifier
@@ListenUp Thank you for your reply, yes it's a integrated amp and has 85 wpc, but I have an Arcam 85 power amp as well, which is very nice but the treble can to be a little sharp at times, powerful bass but isn't as warm as I would like, it can become a little tiresome after a couple of hours of listening, tends to show up poor recordings which can sound a little bright, sadly it's usually my favourite CDs that suffer from this, so would appreciate a warmer sounding preamp ! But having Bluetooth and a DAC would be a useful addition to my set up, so will take this a step further, but I live in the UK, so will endeavour to find a dealer here that will allow me to listen to it in my home first ! Thanks again.
I have both AXR 100 and CXA 81, paired with B&W 685 s2 and PSB Imagine XB. sounds is amazing, favorite album was "This Left Feels Right" by: Bon Jovi, this album was perfect for Audiophile.
AXR is a solid integrated and an amazing value. CX81 is a jump but may not be as noticeable, depending on the speakers. Some have said big difference with ultra revealing speakers while others with speakers that aren't as detail focused haven't noticed as much. Either way, the Cx81 with give you a little more refinement and smoother more textured sound. How much is somewhat speaker dependent.
I have a Cambridge CXA81 and Cambridge CXN V2 with the Clearwayx chord cables with the DynAudio Excite voice sounds loud, the sound is nice, the picture comes out, do you know which speaker fits better or the same wattage :)
Similar sound signatures but more power with the AXR100 over the pma-600ne, so if you are driving floorstanding speakers that may come in handy. If you are running stand mounts or bookshelves the Denon will be capable and it's a little less investment wise.
