I used to live in Camden In the late 80s and early 90s I had two jobs in the morning I worked at the school my son went to and then I our dad West Jersey Hospital so there are jobs Cooper hospital and the school district
Well, Camden is still Camden. You couldn't pay me to go back. Not even to visit for a day. When you're young you don't realize how poorly you are living. When or if you get out of poverty the past looks like a nightmare. Back in the day it was your everyday life. I like money, houses, quiet neighborhoods and nice things. Can't go back.
@Bethany SAUD tell that to my old neighbors mom who’s little boy got shot through his house and died. Tell that to my old homie who went down the wrong street and didn’t want to give his car up and got shot. It’s okay till it’s not , just like anywhere else in the world
Dodgy as heck! Creepy place. Watched a couple of times, there’s people hanging in the shadows, on balconies, on the side of the streets on their own, cars parked up with their lights off and the silhouettes of people inside… and sooo quiet. Wow. This was a good one Charlie
@@paladin3116 slow it down, then watch at the sides of the image, along the shadow lines, as Charlie drives and the lights shine ahead, you can see the outlines of people, movement in the shadows as people move away from the light. It’s there
@@ieshjust16 camden is not like this because of industrialization. camden was a bustling port city. camden is like this because all the industry and stores moved out. it was once home to sears, cambell soup, rca, etc. etc. they all left camden because of the crime.
Went there at night a hand full of times. Everytime I went home I realized my life could always be like Camden. That place looked like the walking deads hordes but with homeless people and drug attics.
In 2016 I was visiting someone in Lindenwold, New Jersey and ended up in Camden and it was terrible even in the day. You could not pay me enough to drive through that dead end slum at night.
Lindenwold isnt too far from Camden. If he was on the White Horse Pike, it definitely could happen. Stop trying to discount people’s stories…or at least know what you’re talking about!
I lived at the nursing school dorm for a couple of years (late 80s) attached to West Jersey Hospital. We loved the pub on the corner and the deli across the street. We loved Donkeys. We went out with nurses that did home care in the city. It holds many great memories. Plus I had my daughter at Cooper - thanks for the night tour- I can’t hate Camden seeing it look so much worse is really frustrating.
I had my son at Cooper too. I remember when it was West Jersey Hospital, too! They used to have a detox center at west jersey where they'd knock you out with a shot in your backside to help you sleep through the withdrawal. I knew a few friends who went there. I didn't know there was a nursing norm there . Interesting! There was a school program there called Tne Caste Program. I used to have to drive my son there every day from marlton. Lots of memories in Camden. Some good, some AWFUL.

I love Camden I was born there but wasn’t raised but every year I use to go back for the summer and chill with my cousins in centerville and out in Fairview. I will always have a soft spot for camden regardless of how it seems it’s really good people in Camden.
My 75 year old mother and paraplegic brother were assaulted and robbed, wheelchair included, outside of a Doctors office in Camden in the early 90's. Mid-afternoon.
back in the early 90s my mom worked for a real estate company collecting rents in Camden. Sometimes me and my sis would have to go with her. When she stopped to collect rent she made us lay down in the back seat of the car under a blanket.
I'm in recovery....I ran these streets for over twenty years.....it's hard out here believe me...it's sad, scary, and u can't believe the thing's Ive seen in twenty years of addiction....breaks my heart 😢😥😢😥😢😥😢😥💔💔💔💔💔💔.so many friends n family members I have lost outhere......I have a sister outhere RightNow...it kills me inside
My brother Tommie Clark was found alive... 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️.But my babysis Christina is still out there.she has called me a few times this week..I'm just so happy 🙏🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️❤️that she is alive, but sad 😢😥🙏🙏🙏😭🙏🙏😥😥😥😥😥👎👎👎😧😧😧😧that she is not well...
It's so true! I used to be out there more in the downtown area though like Broadway & Chestnut/Mt. Vernon that area. Idk if you remember Kathy & Joe, Kathy was strangled by her "boyfriend" then hung from a tree to make it looklike suicide. He went to prison as far as I know he was recently released. I wasted so much time....on & off for over 20 years I still can't believe sone of the stuff we went through. Good for you on getting out & getting clean. I actually celebrate 6 years clean in a week. You keep up the great work! 👍 ❤️
Campbell soup is still in Camden and expanded to an 80,000 sqft facility Not to leave out Sixers practice arena & Subaru HQ is also in Camden. Why doesn’t Charlie go to the other parts of Camden that ARE nice…
@@edwardmiessner6502 you must have never been to a third world country if you think that. 2/3rds of the world is 100x worse than this. You can’t even imagine it.
I live here and know about it,since 1987,I love the City, asking for a job outside the City they asked me,if I was from Camden, said yes,,,nevsr had the Job,proud from Camden NJ.❤
Charlie everytime you go to jersey you go to the same cities. Plainfield got some rough areas especially on the westend/westside. Hopefully you check it out before you leave the state.
I stay in Plainfield it's nothing like Camden Newark Patterson Irvington Elizabeth so on so fourth I'm from Elizabeth Newark area Plainfield got some parts but nothing like the other city's JC Asbury there is to many to name in jersey lol
That’s crazy to this day I still can’t believe I lived here more so the “good part” Cramer Hill which is between North and East Camden right off River Ave where the Salvation Army building is…
Respect respect cmd stand up born and raised n got up outta there 17 years ago ill never forget where i came from shit i still got fam in the hood bless up i been threw it all in camden nj its either u a predator or prey seriously n the wolfs are out at night so be careful dont think shit sweet no cap stay dangerous thats how u gotta be especially when u into that street life no bs.But i changed my life for the better n live in the suburbs everybody not fortunate enough too make out god is good just remember stay safe if u hanging in cmd or coming threw cause u will get got if caught slippin bless up and too all the youth put the guns down n get a job so the kids can stay alive n have future instead of becoming a statistic im out
Well said. Im very Happy for you. Im from the suburbs and its sad to see how the government has left these communities with no help. I wish people where im from understood these communities more, then maybe they could be helped. Love to you and your family
Some towns have parts where you don't want to be out walking especially at night. Camden is a whole town where you'd be best off not even driving around at night
I was born Jan 6 1958 at cooper hospital in camden n.j. and lived there until 3 years of age but my family and me had relatives in camden which we visited yearly. It sad to see what has happened to camden and the chance of a total rebound is remote. Even when I was a boy camden was sliding then🤔
Born and raised in jersey.... didn't grow up in the nicest neighborhood but used to go to Camden for product years ago and went strapped every time day or night
My wife’s cousin lives there, his area is not that bad, all working class families, no drama. And the house with a long driveway and garage was just 80k
I lived in Camden for a short time. It has its good and bad. Wiggens park is nice with the aquarium, park and concerts. Downtown got bad when North Camden got cleaned up. I left 5 years ago and a lot of big name companies were moving in. In time I believe Camden will only get better.
Can anything good come out of Camden, NJ yes indeed family. I got luv for my home town. The actress Tasha Smith was born and raised in Camden, NJ. How bout that. ♥️
Charlie you been rolling around the country, good. You can sound the alarm and let these young brothers know it's gonna be be open season on Black men this summer. Please sound the alarm !!!!
A buddy of mine dad had a body shop and got his parts from a spot in camden and no matter what car he was working on the parts he needed he had in 3 days no matter what it was parts were thire
You get what you ask for in life, if you enjoy this kind of thing. Then change will never come to you, what company in their right mind would build here and expect to make a dollar.
I'm crying, I'm home sick. I'm from east Camden, on east federal and 24th St. I lived in a lot of places out there. I want you to drive down east federal st. And show the street signs as u drive down them. I left in “08 it was way worse back in the 2000 s but it's still no place is take my children, as much as I have love for the city, my memories are with me, but I can't bring my babies out there. Rip Neggy Neg * Confessor Santiago Fly high homie!!!!!!!!! (he was murked out there by dude named Kelly) Xoxoxoxoxoxx
@@sarcrazy530 haddon ave is fine from colls to donkey's. then there's a stretch where it's sketch until under the overpass and you get to the hospital district. but i'd take the worst of haddon ave any time over mt ephraim. it's hellish there....
I doubt the trash ever gets picked up, way too dangerous 💀🤮😳, I saw you were kind of speeding there Charlie and for good reason. That "neighborhood" is a quick and easy to the local morgue and cemetery
First of all this is a old film I don't want to here what happen years ago I want a honest opinion of camden I don't want to hear my friend got shot up in camden. They where shot 16 times and survived how long ago was that really look at the crime rate in the city of camden before you critize you my be very surprised . Thank you god bless
Crimes down since police restructure, real estate sells as quick as its listed, bandos are all being demoed developers have been securing property. Nothing compared to Kensington when it comes to the drugs,nj don't play with the drugs and crime they charge unlike Philly. What camden reminds me of is Philly back in the day always hear old-school rap playing. People not bad they say hello not like Philly mfers are ignorant here. Give camden 10 ,20 years it's going to be very different it's too close to Philly waterfront is there. I see opportunity in near future and taxes are low. Some oldheads smoke rock but don't bother noone but most whites bus or train in get on dope and squat up in bandos. It's similar to Philly in my eyes just a lil slower paced more of a 90s,2000s Philly vibe.
Yo yall need to stop talking about my city like yall better than us like fr yeah we have abandon houses and buildings so what but we make it up with positive people out here see we can be your best friend but once you start something in a negative way we can be your worst nightmare so stop judging us and our streets cause unless you live here you got nothing to say
I used to walk the streets in Camden when I was younger but once I started to drive it was a rule .. DoNot go in after 3. Windows up.doors locked Jersey slide do not stop for anything! Pennsylvania looks worse then Camden ever did!
Born and raised .Camden Is Not nearly as bad as when I grew up there in the 80s and 90s..The streets is dead now..Why you only drive through Polock? there was much more to be explored
Definitely not what it used to be back in the 80s & 90s. And that’s a good thing. What it look like is pretty deceiving. Personally, I think it’s relatively safe compared to 20 years ago. I’ve never been bothered by anyone there.
I grew up in NYC in the 80’s and 90’s it was bad looking but Camden is not far behind as the look wise. But we are in the 2000’s and Camden and North Philly still look foul.
🤌You probably just Graduated Edison 🎓 2 years ago talking about "I won't step foot in philly" 🤭🤣 Unless you're about to attend your 40 year h.s reunion on 1 of these 👩🦼 you make no damn sense acting like a better then whom just legit moved both 5 mins ago & away🤪🤣🤪🤣 mins away
