@Regina Buttons I don't think it has to do with race. It's a cultural issue. A culture of blaming your problems on others instead of being dynamic. A culture of music that promotes violence. A culture of no father in the home. The man society loves to hate, Bill Cosby, worked tirelessly to fight against this culture and promoted family values and education. He even paid for the PA system that Martin Luther King Jr used to give his "I Have a Dream" speech. He succeeded in not only helping black people but he also promoted tolerance and change among the whites. You can say what you want about him, personally I don't believe everything I see on TV, but he did do those good things for which he will not get recognition for.

I have found that the common theme whether it be young black men in gangs in the black community or young white men who end up shooting into a crowd of people there is one common denominator. Most of these young men have no father to be found. If you look at the rise in gangs or mass shootings it started after the destruction of the nuclear family. Prior to the civil rights movement the black family was completely intact but afterwards came the "war on poverty" it gave incentives to women to get free housing, food stamps and all kinds of public assistance but the only caveat was to not have a man in the house. Black women essentially married the state and now we have generations on welfare. Couple that with the feminist movement pushing for no fault divorce (divorce rates went up 300% after NFD was implemented) and it basically gave women and incentive to divorce their husbands based on the premise of "I'm just not happy anymore " and she could get the children 90% of the time meaning child support and alimony giving her the benefits of having a husband without having to be with him. Couple that with the barrage of bullshit that the media and Hollywood throw at society about putting the strong single mothers up on a pedestal and you have a recipe for disaster. The statistics of children raised by single mothers are heartbreaking. More likely to go to prison, more likely to drop out of school, more likely to abuse drugs or alcohol, more likely to join a gang, more likely to commit suicide, more likely to suffer from depression, more likely to have violent tendencies, more likely to become a single mother for the daughters. The list goes on and on. If we want to fix society, we need to fix the family. Children need balance. Women, you are the gatekeepers of sex, meaning unless you are raped it doesn't happen. You have an obligation to your future children to give them the best chance at success. The single most important job you have as a mother is to provide a good father for your children. It is detrimental to their wellbeing if you don't. Men, you have to be more selective in the women you choose. If she is an easy woman then she will not be a good mother for your future children. A lot of the time we as men spend a lot of time learning how to attract a woman vs spending a lot of time learning what kind of woman to attract. We are now seeing the chickens coming home to roost with all of these examples in the prison system, drug rehabilitation centers, gang members, and these young men who are told in society how bad they are just for being men and are the cause of all of societies problems and low and behold they finally snap and end up shooting up a crowd of people. These young men are angry because they have resentment for their fathers not being their whether it be through the family courts keeping them from their children or through a woman who chose the father of her children very poorly. It's not poverty, it's not movies or video games, and it's not guns that are the problem. It's the lack of the father in the home and the lack of morality and empathy being instilled at an early age.

It's actually not that bad in about 60% of the area of the city, and there are only about 5-10 non-gang/drug murders per year, compared to 100-200+ (300-400 total) in Philadelphia. Been getting better in last 5-10 years

Camden used to be thriving. Back in the 1930's and 40's it was THE place to shop and go visit. Years of Progressive leadership destroyed it just like Detroit. I had the pleasure to work there for four years both at day, and later at night. I saw a lot of bad things happen. I finally had to quit, I was just tired of all the stress of constantly watching my front, sides and back nonstop. To say it is dangerous is honestly an understatement.

How is this as a Federally mandated plan. Because those of us who have researched the problem and arent waiting for the return of Jesus to fix things, we have to look at facts. And that is :cities get worse or better. So heres the plan: Every city that gets on the worst 20 cities to live in list, are automatically handled as if it was a war that broke out. National guard is sent in, police dept budgets get beefed up with federal help, and with community leaders, we either turn the area around within a year, or we dismantle it and keep the area safe as we help especially families who would be preyed on while moving, would be able to find better areas and housing. They would be however have to put in writing a plan on how they are going to turn their life around in the next 12 months as the govt shows them what services are available. See....we need effort on BOTH sides. My guess????????......The 2/3 of the neighborhood who just dont care, will stay till the end, staying in gangs, committing crimes and doing anything to keep from getting what has become a dirty word...a job or more schooling. Now heres the thing, we do not throw thousands of people who dont know how to act socially among peopl e who do and have done so all their lives, we dont throw them in with you or me or a middle school that never had any violence and crime in it. They have to earn that. so you make like makeshift cities, like we did with the japanese we held in areas till the war was over. But of course there would be more programs and things to better yurself. The bottom line is, every city on the top 20, if it was dismantled, can only create better qualities of life for the ones who deserve it most....the kids wh never did anything wrong. the toddlers and pre-teen kids. The rest of them....either let them keep killing each other in gang wars, and the police could even let it be known when they werent going to be around in certain areas where no kids and young moms and elderly lived and the bangers who just want to fight....can stay where they are and fight!!!! NO ONE IS FORCED TO DO ANYTHING. Its going to inconvenience some people. Too bad. We have to give the kids in those areas a living chance and we must allow the elderly to go out with dignity in a neighborhood they can walk safely at night.

And thats another thing nobody gives a damn about.If they did ,we'd be talking about. And that is: WHAT ABOUT ALL THE ELDERLY WHO LIVE IN THESE 20 WORST CITIES? Dont they deserve to age with dignity and be able to walk the streets at night and stroll and get some exercise. I mean simply strolling down the street in America is not an oiption in 20 of the worst cities??? And we accept that? WTF! Just because the young bangers cant think past age 25 doesnt mean we turn our back on the elderly(who they are probably draining of the little money they have anyway.)

The plan: Tear down the city, put people in makeshift housing if they cant go anywhere else and put some money into extra police "protection so young and old can learn what its like to be able to walk down the streets at night and just stroll in safety. I had it as a kid, my grandparents had it when they retired, every person has the right to safety. If we cant keep a place safe it has to be torn down....no matter what the cost financially or otherwise. If we do not do this, the death toll will keep mounting, and there wont be enough anti-depressant pills in the world to keep everyone from giving up. Make it where all those who are trouble makers are fined, then thrown in jail for 30 days and the 3rd time they are evicted from the neighborhood and put on parole. Thats what people would push for if they really want a place fit for good decent people. Who will start a blog and help our city planners see thats what we want?
