When I hear this song, I always think of my late father, when I i played him this soon after mum dying, he said to me " Now I get why you love this music so much son", he was crying, pretty much as I am now Thank you Andy...
Camel is the most underestimated band ever!! I love the band since I was 15 years young and they were my first live experience, which I will never forget., it was at "De Vereeniging" in Nijmegen, Holland. Now I am 62 and still loving Camel and of course Andy Latimer! Camel rules, Music rules!
The vibe of both songs is pretty similar, the song Im suggesting is probably the best prog song of argentina, check it out, you’re going to like it!
Magic! Just like David gilmour! Very similar! It's frightening! But listen to Jeff beck doing angels at Ronnie's jazz club! Don't mean to be a so n so! But me personally Jeff beck is a genius!
same here. Never heard of the band Camel, never heard of the guitarist. Geddy said the guitar solo at the end of the song is up there with Gilmour and Clapton. I'd have to agree with Dirk on this one.
Andrew Latimer makes a guitar talk to you. A sound of his own and full of emotion. Always goes out of his way to talk to Camel fans as well. A true gentleman. One of the greatest guitarist's ever.
Perhaps the most underrated band and musicians of all time. If it wasn’t for Snow Goose or Rhayader nobody outside of Europe will know em. These people are actually legends and pioneers I can say this with no Bias. They stuck their Prog rock and long may it stay this way.
I watched Camel three times at Hammersmith, and this was played during the Nude tour there. A life memory. So many of those who comment here have parallel experiences to me with Camel's music. This is one of their (many) tracks that always improves a day.
Simply so special … a lonely track, bursting with hope … like many of us humans. Superior music for every day. Bought the album on release. Was a much younger chap then. A truly romantic track to which I have loved. Thanks for posting.
Another of Andy's masterpieces, maybe his best. He's been always great at creating outanding instrumental pieces with beautiful melodies and moving, soaring guitar solo parts. I'm so glad I could hear this live a couple of times...
@@awaken77 : Definitely. The last time I saw Camel, which was a "farewell" tour, after a Nod and a Wink, they played it, near the end, and Andy's performance was just awesome... so intense....
Meine Nr.1.danke andy latimer. Was für ein großartiger Musiker. Was für grandiose Musik 😊
Hi all,one of the finest pieces of music ever written.Andy Latimer is one of the most underrated guitarists ever to walk the planet.Just like Jeff Beck you don`t miss them till they are gone.Hope Andy is with us for a long time to come and making more glorious music.
This song is great but if you listen to Buckethead and his solos...you will never be the same person after that. If you like to know him watch my last video in my channel.
@@MusimAPotionMahdiA Heh heh, of course I know Buckethead. I listen to musicians like him and Vai, and Satriani and Malmsteen and others when I'm in a different mood. Other times I might listen to Santana or Jeff Beck. But always David Gilmour, he's my hero. Latimer is up there though. They're all different.
"Crying guitar" solo - Latimer's trademark. He's not shredder, but his guitar tones are very organic, like human voice. I want to cry when i hear this guitar
@@alaskatoburningmen4549 agree, Steve Rothery is also good. and Polish band Riverside (which drawn influences from Pink Floyd, Marillion and Porcupine Tree)
Geddy Lee: "On it was a beautiful, slow-moving instrumental called "Ice" with one of the most delicate and lovely endings of any song from that progressive music period, featuring one of the truly great guitar solos of the late seventies, played by Andrew Latimer; IMHO it ranks up there with the likes of Clapton and Gilmour."
Saw them play this live at the Apollo in Glasgow and every note was perfect. If I could back and relive a concert again that would be it. Graham Parker and the Rumour is a close second though.
Saw them live at the Farnborough Rec on a Saturday afternoon. My first ever concert. It was amazing. Still miss those wonderful times with my mate Scabs. He is now in a care home with alzheimer's disease. Time goes so fast.
so many memories for so many people.... it is amazing ... still so amazed to listen to this creation since 1979... and the fist album "mirage" in 1974 was the first time i understand the greatness of this band and Andrew Latimer phenomenal performance
reminds me of the days of no, mobile phones , no social media, and the beatiful days of freedom, as a "teenager"sit at home "alone" and still loving this ,as a modern day " dinosaur" as everyone "destroyes" socialism, and loving it",quote "pink floyd" sit in the corner , no one can bother me.....
As good as the guitar solo is, I am compelled to listen time and again to the keyboard one. Its tone, and the story it tells, evokes a mysterious and distant (yet warm in a certain way) universe.
Always said as good as David gilmour! Why has this band been in the shadows of every prog band! They should have sold millions! It's a mystery! Floyd, then camel are my favourite bands! Some of there stuff is so alike! 2 gr8 guitar players that sound so similar! So very underated!
Well, I love Gary Moore and Pink Floyd/David Gilmour but this is different, although Andy Latimer can sound close to Gilmour sometimes (and he did that on the album Rajaz, at least on one or two tracks). True, the album is different from that, but not bad, it's a mixed bag, with good songs (like Hymn to Her, Who We Are, Eye Of The Storm), and not so great ones (but this was 1979 and i guess they had a bit of pressure to come up with pop songs that would make a good single). Camel always made some instrumental pieces that were maybe stronger than some of their songs.
@@jackjc1447 Ah ! Glad to see somebody who also enjoy other tracks than "Ice" . I must confess it is my favourite piece (maybe my favourite piece ever from Camel, actually !) but "Hymn to Her" was the second track that came to mind, immediately. All the best to you, Jack :o))
If you are in need, to explain, what can be done or better played with an electric guitar.... Don't worry.... Just skip to 4:00 an no more explanations needed... Thx Andy....i love camel since I was so very lucky to have been listening to the faboulos concert in RAH in 1974...Snow Goose... IT was magic
This is a very fine version as well, but I was first introduced by your live HD version which is quite magnificent in my opinion. In either case a masterpiece ❤🙂👌✌️👍🤜🤛🤜🤛
SHMK: the sun shining on the snow; your necklace; warmth in the cold; Winter unfolding into Spring unfolding into Summer. Precious memories of you. All of that is here. Always, M
best Camel song ever, best solo guitar ever.. mau versi live recorded ataupun studio recorded, Ice adalah lagu progrock paling keren yang pernah gue tau. 'Sir' Andrew Latimer is Camel. Camel is 'Sir' Andrew Latimer. warmest regard from Indonesia ♥️♥️🙏🙏
