I'm very late -- sorry I delayed cuz I kinda got nervous about watching this video since I was worried about what you said about me lol -- but it's worth to comment finally, I appreciate all your effort on the video, it's just like... oh my god. I've never got this kind of introduction. This is wonderful. One thing, I'd really like to mention is, all I do is absolutely supported by all people who love rhythm games like you, people in chats, and people shown in the video like Ed / BTMC you know (and other people no matter if they play games or not, ofc! absolutely), and I'd like to thank them and communicate with them as possible as I can. I highly believe it's really important part for me that I feel genuinely just wanting to show my appreciation them. Thank you again, have a good gaming and thank you for enjoying my tracks!
Wow.... I'm so shocked you even saw this... looking back on it, I don't think this video is the best I've made, but everything I said still is true. Thank you for being such an inspiration, making such good music, and providing your fans with hours of fun!! You will always continue to be an inspiration to me and many others ❤❤
Camellia i love your music, and yet i can't play those songs on rhythm gamds cuz they're too hard, please make more bangers like Polybius GB speedrun 3:57!
I know that Camellia-san isn't underrated in any way, but I really wish more people outside the rhythm games community knew about him, the care he puts in each and every song of his, and the way he treats his fans, it's all so amazing
I was introduced to him through Beatsaber, and after giving a shot to his other tracks outside the ones in beatsaber, I absolutely fell in love and I've never had a favourite musical artist before, ever! I listen to the U.U.F.O album any time I'm drawing, it's just that amazing. But atleast I know him solely for his music, and not only for some PS4 VR game. Most people know him just from the rhythm games and not for his overall music really.
Yeah even his Hello (BPM) 2021 sounds good as firetruck Reason i put firetruck is because youtube doesn't like the word firetruck but the iretr is silent
There are a few people here saying things like "this deserves more views" or "you are incredibly underrated" and i greatly appreciate it!!! If you would like, the best thing you can possibly do for me would be to share it with a friend or two who might be interested, and tell them to give it a watch! dont worry about making them like or subscribe, im more looking for honest feedback whether they liked or didnt like it. thanks!!
God I love Camellia, although I love exit the earth's atmosphere, I really like the harder stuff he's done like ghost secret boss, and machine gun psystyle, unlike other popular edm and dubstep artists that I listen to (xtrullor and teminite for example) all of Camellia's songs grow from the beginning to end, from it being a simple melody, to an intense drop, and to a slightly chiller but still intense finale. Love you Camellia, and love this video
I've loved Camellia's songs ever since i first heard them, He's such a good producer and he just makes all his songs bangers and ther are all good for rhythm games and I am so glad cammelia chose to support rhythm games and learn to love them too :D
Watching people play rhythm games is so freaking mesmerizing. I'm not a huge fan of electronic music generally, but these songs seem to have a lot more musicality to them than some others in the genre, so that's really cool to hear!
well Most Rythm games music i heard sound different than the Genre it was based on its has more melody for my not so good interpretation of what i feel
14 years + osu tatakae ouendan/Elite beat Agents the DS original was released in 2005 so 16 already technically. But still osu has been receiving surface tweaks and mapping has several clear eras that signify whenever a map was made, and makes it feel somewhat fresh usually when I take a break and come back.
You’ve got rock, rap, hip hop, EDM, jazz, pop, country, metal, and then you’ve just got Camellia, he takes EDM to the next level that I don’t even like calling his works EDM. Such an amazing artist in my opinion.
@@TelestroArchive wouldn’t that just make Camellia the genre. As the commenter said, Camellia has some songs that are just so much of everything, and more, that it is impossible to categorize. He makes such original music that honestly he is the genre himself.
It is crazy, to say the least, that you only have near 400 subscribers. This is an amazingly well put-together video and I loved learning about this. I'm looking forward to your other videos!
Yooooo the editing gets better and better. I've also been on a music theory/analysis kick lately and this video fits right into that niche. Loved it, as always!
As an osu!mania player, I can really relate to a lot of things you've said throughout the video I haven't thought of before. I really enjoyed this video!
i have to say camellia's music is such a treat! I'm a bit bummed I didn't find his stuff until a few months ago thanks to his fnf mod, though I'm really eager to play other rhythm games so I can play more of his songs. also, really excellent video! its really well put together and goes straight to the point. I'm defo looking forward to more of your videos in the future!
The only thing I have against Camellia's music that prevents him from reaching literal perfection, is that his mixing/mastering is a bit too clumsy compared to other artists in the bass music scene. Way too much high frequency, some of his heavy songs are basically white noise and it's really too bad. The drums are also too much in the background, not enough sidechain to make them stand out, even if the high bpm songs don't really need to have much sidechain, a little more would be nice. This makes listening to his songs for a long time, my ears get physically tired, something I get much less when listening to other hardcore artists. However, in terms of melody, rhythm, chord progression soundscapes or sound design itself, he is just a god and you can't deny it.
Agree, the main problem i have is that some of his songs are fairly sharp like you said, but I can mostly look past it because of how good they are. I just usually have to turn my headphones down lmao😂😂
@@TelestroArchive well i usually turn down my computers high frequency EQ and Turn Up slightly the Low Freq to fix it or use mid one instead of low one
Great video! Camellia is one of my very favourite producers ever. The music he makes is just so amazing sometimes. Gotta agree when you say the final drop of a Camellia song is a really awesome moment, as a Beat Saber player, the final drops are just always so intense and hype. Personally some of my favourites of his are Powa of da Wildanes, An Artifice, and Venomous Firefly.
I also love Camellia' s work. I can clearly see his passion and feelings listening to his tracks. My favorite song is Completeness under Incompleteness (sdvx version)
i freaking love CAMETEK. one amazing thing that has been happing to his community is the addition of the FNF COM (for better or for worse..) having alot of these NEW rhythm game fans being introduced to Camellia via "vs. Camellia" and thats AMAZING!! considering none of these "kids" have seen/heard of him prior, alot of the people who know him know him from well, BeatSaber and OSU! i don't entirely love the FNF community, but its great and amazing! i really loved this video man, planning on watching the rest!! keep up the work!!
Oddly enough I dindn't get introduced to Camellia through rhythm games but through electro-swing. I was recommended Nasty Nasty Spell by youtube after browsing several different electro-swing songs on youtube. from there I went on to listen to the whole album Blackmagik Blazing and his other stuff. It was only after becoming a fan of his style that I began playing rhythm games and noticed his stuff there.
If camellia goes on tour I will make it sure I go to anywhere where ever he is.. can you imagine these sounds played out on big ass speakers surrounded by people who love the same music you do. The hype in that. But… to hear those sounds in such a louder spectrum.. it’s insane
I dont think there will ever be another artist like Camellia that makes me feel extremely high (literally and figuratively) when listening to his music. Sometimes i just lay on my bed while listening to Alone Intelligence for example and just close my eyes imagining anything i can in accordance to the rythm, letting my imagination expand and visualize so many artistic interprations of the various tracks each time i listen to them is what makes me appreciate Camellia's music even more. Not to mention the way my heart starts racing whenever those hype drops reach towards the end of the song (kind of like the example of Light it Up as shown in the video). For anyone who is a massive EDM fan and you havent listened to Camellia yet... Do yourself a favor and let your imagination fly listening to his music, its insane. :')
visualization is a huge part of how i listen to music, and camellia's music gives me some of the most vivid images in my head. every song shows me a new scenario and a new story, and they're always incredible.
most rythm gamers think it's just to easy XD when in reality it's harder than peolpe think it is,and one of the most fun to play. And let's not talk about the fact playing it every day almost , i look like someone who is working out everyday without doing the boring training :))
@@UmbraWeiss true i see allot of people say its easy but in reality its not for example there are allot of map makers that make harder and harder maps everyday (if you want to see Some of the really hard maps search cerret
Just passed the now 6* Cycle Hit, and I cannot pass it again. But my god the feeling of passing the final drops in Camellia songs are just so chaotic-nice.
His final drops give you the absolute biggest adrenaline rush. It'll hurt like hell but you're so in the moment it doesnt even phase you and in the end you feel this rush of dopamine realizing you really just beat it.
It's nice that you used Newspapers for Magicians as an example for breaking down his music, because my favorite Camellia song right now is his recent evolution of Newspapers for Magicians: "We Magicians Still Alive in 2021". Anyways this was a fantastic video, I've never seen anyone break down exactly why I love these songs so much both in the context of rhythm games, and how they sound on their own.
I’m very surprised you didn’t mention Mad Rat Dead, mainly because of how hard his part of the ost slaps. It’s crazy to see a guy who people barley knew a few years ago turn into a huge deal.
I totally agree with what you said in the video, but there is something more I want to note out on this First, his unique style of producing Never in my life I saw a producer put a ton of genre, BPM into a song. Take the OOPARTS for example. In the description, he said that the song is " Electro / Breaks with 140BPM, and goes to Hi-tech, Drumstep / Dubstep, Trap / Twerk, Hardcore, and Speedcore with a BPM of 230." How on earth those genre can goes in a song? Also, when he arrange the chords, I believe he just using the normal chord, then add some weird notes to make his chords "are very wacky" (Composerily). We heard those chords are so unique but still fit perfect in the song Not so random when Composerily said: "you see, Camellia is a genre" Second, the hype he bring throughout the song You mentioned about the melody that he keeps throughout the song, but the hype never change. Even at the end of some song (Exit This Earth's Atomosphere (Camellia's "Planetary//200step" Remix, for example) he changed completely into Future House, which in turn, the kick structure/the sound of the individual kick would never sound like Electro or Dubstep. And for some reason he still keeps his hype! That would be some kind of hard to keep. Third, his relationship with the community Is there any producer have a close relationship to the community like Camellia? I thought,. at this time, nope. He used various players voice in a song (Purge My Existence Out Of This World (feat. BTMC), KillerToy (he didn't mention this in the title, but everyone knows, fieryrage voice), collab with 8bitdrummer, and also made a whole song just for a tie-breaker (OOPARTS - OWC 2020 Tie Breaker). He goes on Beast stream to comment and donate for him, goes on Gamma Loop stream to see him playing ADOFAI That why he is well-known as a producer and at the same time, he pretty friendly (even he goes and comment on videos a lot)
so cool someone did a vid on camellia. He's truly become a literal giant. In the past the big giants were people like DJ sharpnel, T+pazolite, Renard etc but camellia managed to branch out further than they did bein a name in literally every rhythm game that isn't so specific to the point his songs can't fit in, an they're PERFECT for veterans, always a challenging or at least fun track to go with it
Thank you so much for this video. I've been enjoying Cammellia music so much for a long time, not understanding why. Some of his songs hurt my ears, but I still love them. Now I know exactly why. Much appreciation and have a nice day, good Sir.
Because the foundations of the song with the best and rhythm are so robust - despite their difficulty, it’s easy to play the song because it feels intuitive simply if you listen to the music properly.
Camellia has some of the most unique and best songs, stuff like #1f1e33 and δ : for the DELTA are so unique and I have heard nothing like, he has genuinely incredible songs, not to mention he made the song that has my favorite drop of all time, the drop at 4:24 on ΩΩPARTS, great job Camellia, you're my favorite musician
I definitely feel the same. At first, when I started beating a ton of expert+ songs, I found myself not finding a great challenge as easily, until I found all the ranked Camellia maps, which gives me a new goal beat them, some easier, and some extremely hard.
@@TelestroArchive so true probably one of the most talented producer that ever lived XD Kobaryo and T pazolite also is also on different level sheeesh those japanese on hardcore Tano c are in different level
this video is perfect. the commentary mixed with the fade into the amazing camellia music at some points had my eyes tearing up and me bouncing in my chair! amazing video!
thank you so much! im glad my videos can make others happy in the same way that some of the things i talk about do to me! i have another video coming that will be similar to this, so i definitely would keep you eyes out for it :D
Awesome video, very underrated! I can completely agree with everything you said, most of Camellia's song are amazing. You could have mentioned the fact that he is really good at making *any* kind of genre, but then the video would've gotten too long if you went in depth with that too. I'm a top beat saber player and I honestly think that listening to his music makes the game way better, as it makes the levels not only fun to play, but also good to hear. You could make a video on Kobaryo aswell, you've got talent for this. Have a great day! o/
Thank you!! There is a lot of things I could have mentioned, and I have become a better creator since this video was released, so I am thinking of re making this video or making a part 2! I have another idea to make first, but after that I might do part 2 :) Thanks for watching!
It brings me to tears at how unique and iconic this beautiful music is. A literal genius, a monarch that stands among the rest of us. This man introduced, founded, and nurtured my love for EDM. I play rhythm games as a whole to discover and play his songs, because it's not a level, it's a journey.
I'm so happy to see how far beat saber has come, I remember getting a vr so excited to play it and it had a tingle effect that left an eternal love for the game. Ever since I've grinded the game until I became the best I could be.
After nearly a year I worked my way up from just starting Beat Saber, to finally beating Light It Up on expert difficulty. It’s also one of my favorite songs so I felt extra happy after beating it. Now I’m dreading attempting it on expert plus, because then it’s time to say goodbye to my arms.
Xi best rhythm game music.... IMO Try xi-peace breaker xi-halcyon xi-garyou tensei xi-akasha xi-ANiMA xi-quetus ray xi-freedom dive xi glorious crown xi blue zenith xi double helix xi wish upon twin star xi happy end of the world xi death piano xi mirage garden xi parousia xi angelic party xi Ascension to Heaven
I couldn’t agree more. Camellia is just so different from other artists similar to him in such a good way. He can create the most beautiful and serene melodies while also being able to compose the most head-banger inducing drops that have ever and will ever befall this universe, as opposed to one or the other like with most artists. Even those artists that specialize in the first or the latter can’t do it within four parallel universes as good as Camellia. His sound design is genius and will NEVER be topped by anyone else. I didn’t know about Camellia before the fateful day I got an oculus quest two for Christmas and got beat saber. I had watched one of those “beat saber stereotypes” videos beforehand and one of the stereotypes was “the ghost guy”. So the moment I opened beat saber for the first time I went to the Camellia pack (which I also thought had really cool cover art, Camellia is also very talented at making cover art) and clicked ghost. And that may have been the best decision i’ve made ever. The MOMENT I listened to that song was the moment my entire perception of music as a whole changed, and completely for the better. I will NEVER forget the first time I heard Camellia’s ghost. I was exposed to what Camellia was, all at once, almost too fast for my formerly oblivious mind to handle. I was really bad at the game back then and could only pass ghost on easy at the time but I did turn on no fail and sit through the whole expert plus map, watching as I struggled to even remotely comprehend how even god himself could beat that. The notes were coming at me almost a mile a second way too fast for my former self to handle. It feels so weird looking back because that map is easy to me now. But you are completely right about the feeling you get when you first beat that ONE hard song. I was breathing like a horse and soaked in sweat as I hit that one last stream and swung that one last vertical three stack. As soon as I realized what I had just accomplished I was practically crying. I will NEVER forget that moment, it makes me almost emotional thinking about it. The feeling of beating your first “hard” level in a rhythm game for the first time is the epitome of what you would call indescribable. No game, ever, NO GAME could ever make anyone feel like rhythm games can. The frustrations, the so close but so far moments, the accomplishments, it’s magical. Camellia and beat saber have CHANGED MY LIFE. If it weren’t for Camellia and Camellia exposing me to that type of music I might still be listening to the mainstream stuff like justin bieber and maroon five, but thank god i’m not. Camellia, if you’re seeing this, thank you, so much. You will always be the best. Also don’t mind the fact that I just wrote a whole autobiography, I write A LOT when I talk about serious and almost sentimental stuff like this.
tbh i haven't seen a video that goes this much into details with his songs this video really shows u how great camellia really is u notice almost every detail about it. great work Telestro
Ahh, the feeling I got when I finally made it past the ridiculous final drop in crystallized or light it up on beat saber expert +, the anxiety when you know it's about to hit and the absolute pure adrenaline you feel when you get past it. Your heart is pounding, your head is throbbing, you're getting dizzy but you've made it this far, you can't afford to get lazy and ruin such an achievement so you make that last push to finish out the song and when it's over, you're shaking and twitching uncontrollably because you didn't know your body could even move like that. You feel like your chest is about to burst when suddenly, you get a second wind and feel like you can take on the world, so you decide to punish yourself further by choosing to PLAY ANOTHER ONE... Perfection 👌👌👌
you should have atleast have more than 1000 subs by now holy.I have never seen a more underrated youtuber than you this is really good for someone with this small of a audience
the best way i can describe camellia's music is kinda like a perfectly choreographed movie train wreck. there is so much insane shit going on but when you look at each part individually, you see how it all makes sense.
And another thing with camellia's songs is that we can hear a melody, because if we compare to another electronic or dubcore songs they are just random hard sounds and it's all the time the same, but in camellia songs the drop keep changing to something we never expected to hear.
Thank you so much! If there is one thing I would change about this video is that I think I was talking a bit too slow, but other than that, I think I structured it pretty well. Thanks for watching!
One important reason why Camellia is the king: he (probably) knows and can utilize music theory really well. He used a lot of jazz chords even in Electronic Music. He can compose metal as well, and he even sang for some of his own metal song. I bet he is classically trained. A lot of modern composers are really creative but not classically trained, which is why a lot of modern song feels flat. You need to understand why your music sounds good, in order to produce an even better music. Or else, you just don't care about your song and your growth in composing music, which probably results in those flat, 2 dimensional songs that repeats over and over for 5 minutes.
very true!! when i made this video i didnt know barely anything about music theory, i now know a bit more, if i would have known back then i definitely would have included a lot more about his writing and the chords he uses because theyre really interesting and unique voicings. He really is a master of his craft!
Camellia is one of the best artist I have ever seen in my life. And I've seen a LOT. Camellia just has this effect that makes his songs sound so colorful and just overall different! I have not heard one of his songs be so similar to the other and even if they were a bit similar. You could barely tell. The first time I heard a camellia song was on complete accident. It was spinning eternally. I liked how crazy it was. And how it literally feels like your head is spinning! And don't get me started on ghost. I don't know what sound effects he used but that song could send a chill down the equator. I don't care if I get a headache from listening to this guy's songs too loud. This man deserves a whole award. And I swear if he doesn't get one. I'll give him one myself
Great analysis! You put into words all that I love about camellia that I just couldn't express and just stuck in my mind. Especially love how you talked about Newspapers for Magicians' final drop. THIS is what I love about camellia, he just combines the fast and super high energy parts with the fucking beautiful melody, and you explained it exactly the way I thought about it. His final drop is just the most beautiful fucking things I ever witnessed. I'm so glad that I discovered him along with the artcore genre. They were the kind of music that were my hidden perfect taste but that I never looked for or even knew about. Loved this video, high quality editing and commentary. You are a very underrated youtuber. New subscriber. Cheers
thanks bro i wanted to introduce a bunch of my friends to camellia but i dont know how to describe his music so this video is a great way to introduce them to camellia because his music is highly underrated (everyone knows that). you were also able to show them rhythm games in the background too and that might also drive them to play rhythm games and try to be as good as the players shown if they want to start playing rhythm games
Such an exceptional musical talent, camellia is truly gifted at what he does and at the same time he seems to be a great overall human being. Nothing but respect for him
i knew about camellia for a while, but what really latched me onto him was exit this earths atomosphere, with its remix version being even more of a banger than the original, i hope he continues making music
I'm usually not a fan of hard songs, as I've mostly just went with the idea that they're hard for the sake of being hard. But these songs are special, and induce an enjoyment I don't get with most songs. That's something I can always appreciate in a Camellia piece - the way he introduces melodies and elements that you know will be brought back later in a masterful way within the final drops. They're an amazing balance of beautiful and intricate, challenging and immersive, an absolute bop! I play Beat Saber and I've just passed Exit This Earth's Atmosphere, my favorite Camellia song, on Expert+ for the first time. And what a rush of satisfaction that was! Now for Ghost... :D
I 100% agree with you. as someone who plays a lot of rhythm games, I always have fun playing Camellia music, which brings you into an atmosphere that only he is capable of transmitting to us. otherwise, I'm very curious as to why I didn't see this video in my recommendations before... great video and good luck for your next publications!
