I very much disagree with buying third party batteries. Be very careful when doing this because I've had countless batteries crap out on me and I would've saved way more money if I just bought name brand.
I mean, you say that but of the 12 batteries I own (yes, I'm aware that's too many 😅) the only one to fail on me so far was an official Sony one! But I'm sure you're absolutely right in saying there are some dodgy makes out there. Rather than tarring them all with the same brush, I'd suggest just checking the reviews before purchasing.
@@TomCalton yeah I did that before buying and I actually bought the batteries with the highest ratings but they couldn't hold a charge. The only ones that actually can for me are the ones that came with my camera. But who knows it could be a difference in Canon vs Sony (because I shoot Canon)
If ya like street/landscape photography or just taking pics in general I absolutely recommend the Peak Design Capture Clip! Cause im broke i bought a knock off one for 13 dollars, and it's still good. It allowed me to take wayyyy more pictures cause I don't have to deal with an annoying strap or be too lazy to take my camera out of my bag!
As I own a 13yo D3100, I'll stick with original batteries just in case. I'm sure modern 3rd party batteries are amazing, but don't wanna risk my first DSLR.
I bouht third party battery once.. charge was okeishm maybe slightly less than original, no biggie. The problem I have with it: after a few years it swelled, I got sweaty trying to get it from a camera. Original still works 10 years after.
I have some third party batteries and I can say after some decent use and 5ish years the Sony one still holds the most charge and the other two have started to separate at the seam making them harder to take out. This of course is for a Sony a6300
3rd party batteries are trash. They’re equivalent to OEM for about 2 weeks then they drain much faster, have a much higher doa rate, and they swell up and just down right don’t last as long. Buying 3rd party for batteries just creates so much e waste in the end. Yeah you may get 4 batteries for cheaper but that’s because you might (MIGHT) get 1 that works properly for the same length of time as an OEM. Honestly 3rd party batteries just aren’t worth the time. I’d rather spend the $78 on something that will work properly for years and not just end up in a landfill.
Knowing this comment has been made I'll agree that OFF brand batteries are worth what they cost. "You get what you pay for in the case of batteries." They do not last as long as OEM batteries and in the field I know which ones I can ALWAYS depend on.
I've had most of mine 5 years now and they're all still going strong. 🤷🏻♂️ It obviously depends on which brand you go for, but my recommendation is not to write off all third party batteries based off previous bad experiences. These days they're actually pretty good.
