When I was recently looking to invest in a new motorized camera slider, I realized there was too many to choose from. So I did a lot of digging and spent a lot of hours doing research into motorized sliders. I concluded that the most popular motorized camera slider companies seem to be Neewer, Zeapon, Edelkrone, Rhino. I decided to make a comparison video about which motorized camera slider is best to make use of all the information I learnt.

Thank you SO much for this video. I’ve been spending days trying to decide which system to invest in. I mainly do product commercials for clients and RU-vid. Your comparison of the different systems as well as of the SliderOne and SliderPlus helped me a lot to decide that Edelkrone would probably be the best choice, although no system seems to be perfect. Have you ever tried the Syrp Genie products? I will probably choose between this and the Edelkrone's system..

I am very glad to hear that I could help in some way :) yea these consumer level camera systems there seems to always be at least one thing wrong. The only one that seems perfect costs like 250k, those big huge camera robots. Would love to play around with something like that one day. No I haven’t, never even heard of them. I will have to take a look. There are a lot of slider companies lol.

Thank you very much :) and good choice! it depends on what movement you are most interested i guess. just one slider still can get you lots of shots. obviously adding just one HeadOne for panning + sliding for paralx shots gives you way more range. or you could do 2 headones with the tilt kit, and get pan and tilt but no slide. no balancing at all this the slider and 2 Headones! there is only balancing with their JibOne and HeadPlus.

Thanks so much for the comparison and all the background information regarding the companies 💚 Gvm makes some sliders too comparable to the Neewer. I do love all the company policy and support edelkrone seems to offer but it comes at a hefty price. Perhaps in the near future I'll upgrade to edelkrone. For now, I was siding towards the Rhino but I too have seen many reviews regarding the bugginess so I think the Zeapon seems perfect for me. As much as it hurts the stability, I love the double distance feature that allows me to get more distance for a smaller package. And according to other comments they have a new pan and title head which sounds fantastic as that's exactly why the Rhino and edelkrone catch my eye.
@TymekStolarz
@TymekStolarz 2 года назад
And thank you for the comment :) Yes I ended up seeing quite a few gvm after I made this video. It didn’t have a lot of great reviews on b and h even though it looked higher quality than neewer. Yea Edelkrone is a lot unfortunately, really they all are. But rhino seems to be about the worst lol. And yea the zeapon pan and tilt. I hope I can test them out one day and compare them directly to Edelkrones. The way the two systems attach seem to potentially be better but I’ll need to get my hands on them to test to know for sure

i actually made a video comparing the sliderone and the slider plus. basically both of them have similar smoothness and just come down to how long of a slide you need. there are times when the smaller slider length is more than fine, especially for the finer macro shots of products. but there is a lot of things i wanted to do with the longer slider length. overall i think id prefer the longer length, but it is a little more cumbersome to set up needing a separate motor, cant really travel with it easily etc. pros and cons to both.

Hi Tymek, this was one of the best and most honetst videos about the top 4 slider brands. Another interesting thing that can be observed in many other industries, too, is that the quality of SW is taking over. Nowadays, everone can do great mechanics, but solving SW issues can quickly become a deadly burden to smaller companies.

I’d have to double check the actual weight of all the gear, but I think I’ve had it in the 75-85% weight capacity when I had checked it last a while ago. I did reach out to ask about weight capacity and edelkrone support said that having at 100% was okay, and that you shouldn’t have any issues with failure or excess wear and tare as long as you are under 100 % capacity.

@TymekStolarz 3 года назад
Thank you very much :) I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. It definitely seems like a really good pick for its price. Id love to try one out but most of the stuff i shoot now is always 2 axis. How do you find the performance when you are programming two different motions in 2 apps? Tedious at all?
@highframestudio9489
@highframestudio9489 3 года назад
@@TymekStolarzYes, a little tedious, but not too much. With practice, sync movements between 3 axis using 2 different apps is fast and even easy. First I set the slider movement on the zeapon (using keyframes if necessary), the app then shows the movement total time. Based on that, I set the tilt movement on the genie for the same amount of time. To sync the movements, I use my iPhone and an Ipad to manage each device separately. On both apps, you have the bounce option, so you just have to make little adjustments as needed. Additionally, sometimes, I use a turntable with this setup, this give me a much more dynamic footage on product and stock videos. I'm happy with my choice. The results worth it.
@TymekStolarz
@TymekStolarz 3 года назад
Nice! It sounds like any extra steps doesn’t slow you down. The end result is the most important anyways. I think motion control is great but even having everything in one app sometimes feels tedious. I got the A7s iii ( my first camera with IBIS and some stab options) so I’ve been trying hand held but it’s just never as good lol. It’s a pipe dream but I would love to use one of those massive camera robots (Motorized Precision - Kira) those look insane.

Can edleKron travel as fast as the Rhino? I have a mini Ursa and I'm woried, that it would either fall over or cause a dip in the footage that is more extreme than with the lighter cameras you showed in your demo.
@TymekStolarz
@TymekStolarz 3 года назад
Hey there George :) I looked up the stats and it looks like Edelkrone's max speed on the Slider plus (2.52 in/sec) is half as fast as Rhino (5 in/sec), so definitely quite a bit slower. Camera weight probably changes these speeds too. As far as dip goes, i've been told that a solid 75-100mm bowl tripod is absolutely necessary to really anchor the slider in place, especially at its end limits. The Ursa is definitely a lot of camera, not sure what the weight of your lens and accessories would be but the Slider Long v5 pro is rated up to 9kg cameras on the tripod. As long as you have a solid one, and extend the legs farther than the slide itself and your set up is under 9kg, I dont see why it shouldn't work. If you have any concerns id recommend reaching out to Edelkrone, their technical support is some of the best i've ever received.

It definitely looks pretty cool. i was this one be reviewed by Gerald Undone, i like how it has a control system right on the product - using an app is definitely a little bit of a pain. I obviously havent used one but Gerald seemed to like the performance of the one he tested. it doesnt look like there are any options for a tilt axis at the moment though - which isn't a deal breaker but its a great additional axis to use.

Hi Tymek, Nice review! Just subbed. I have the Edelkrone but they keep updating their products too fast. Tried to get the trade up but it hasn’t worked. This led me to look at the Zeapon. Looking for an update on the E800 and when the tilt and pan motors are released. Have you seen the hyla suction cups you can use to mount on a car, windows and other flat surfaces which gives you more creative options. Also the angles that the sliders are be placed with a load capacity from 3.5-4.5kg is really nice. As you mentioned, they have carbon fiber or leg frame support that makes the edges more stable when it slides to either edges without the need of a bulky tripod (like with Edelkrone). And I like the option of the dolly wheels. Anyhow, if Zeapon does send some your way, do let me know.
@TymekStolarz
@TymekStolarz 3 года назад
Yea they do update their products pretty quick which i guess is a great and bad thing at the same time haha. its good to know they are constantly innovating and improving but as a consumer its sucks not having the latest gear they release. I am quitting my job in a couple weeks to take a swing at this full time, hopefully over a year or two i can grind out enough videos to be big enough to do sponsorships and product reviews provided by companies. I havent seen anything about the added motors unfortunately but it should make the system a lot more versatile. i still havent tested the unit out myself but i've seen mostly great reviews about the sliders performance. i've seen those suction cups and i also like the dolly wheels, they are definitely trying to innovate as well and trying to set themselves apart.

Hey there sorry about the super late reply. So I tested it out and this is what I found: If you are using something like the Edelrkone flex tilt head that keeps your camera really low to the slider. You can basically see the end of the slider for most of the track for 17 and 24 mm. If you raise the flex tilt head, or use a ball head ( like the manfrotto XPRO ball head) then the 24 mm you can almost get to the opposite end of the track before you start seeing the other side. 17 mm you can see it around the middle unfortunately.

I have the exact same setup coming in the mail, 055 tripod and all. I saw you mention in your other video about the sagging you have with your slider. Does this happen with any amount of gear mounted, or only when you're using the dual HeadOnes? I just crunched the numbers on weight, and the regular v5 long slider is only good for ten pounds on tripod, and the dual head one setup itself comes to 3.5 pounds roughly, cutting it close when you have a camera with a sizeable lens mounted... I only ordered one HeadOne for my setup so far, but I'm considering getting the tilt. Problem is I want to be able to use a Blackmagic Pocket 4k or my Fujifilm XT-4. If I want tilt, that's the only option I can go with this slider, because the HeadPlus is five pounds on its own and would definitely cause some issues. What are your thoughts?
@TymekStolarz
@TymekStolarz 3 года назад
Good morning :) So in that sag test i did, i actually didn't have any HeadOnes attached, just my camera and a Manfrotto tripod head. So 3.6 pounds for the camera and lens, and an extra 1.1 pounds for the head - I would have probably gotten even more sag with the full setup. This problem is more so the tripod though, not the slider. That middle column designs that allows you to extend upwards is the weak spot and you can see how it shifts back and forth. Someone commented that they use the Manfrotto 536 tripod and even with a HeadPlus set up they don't get any sag. Yea if you wanted the HeadPlus, you would definitely need the more expensive Pro slider. It looks like on Edelkrone they say that a Slider long regular, and the 2 HeadOnes w/ tilt kit should handle 7 pounds of camera load, which i think should cover most DSLR, mirrorless setups, even with heftier lenses.

@@TymekStolarz Hello Tymek, thank you for taking the time to read and respond my comment. I bought the 80cm mod slider with panning and tilting modules. The thing I liked the most is that the slider has an interchangeable rail system and i can have a 120cm slider without having to buy a complete unit. Also is really precise I use it with a Laowa 24mm x 2 lens so presition was pretty important for me and gladly this slider didn't let me down.

Not a problem! I reply to everyone and I enjoy talking to people about their tech :). Well that’s good to hear. And the slider itself is very smooth? No shaky footage? Or do you have to add stabilization in post to get rid any micro jitters. It seems like every slider always has some.

@@TymekStolarz I was expecting some vibration when using the Laowa lens, but I was surprised to see there was none. The slider movement is really smooth in all 3 axes. I didn't need to add any stabilizer. If you need a reliable slider I think this one is the best choice on the market right now.

Very interesting. I will definitely have to look into it. Over all i am happy with Edelkrone, but i often have to add stabilization if using pan and slide. Although I am finding i wish i had an additional axis. Something like the JibOne. i cant seem to find a lot of other companies offering motorized cranes.

So close! I would like to get my hands on one. I think the support attachments for the tripod are ra really good idea. I just wish they had more motion control systems. Thanks for the comment :)

I think they're all too expensive for what they are. Especially in the day and age of cheap Arduinos and/or Raspberry PIs.

I would agree that they are pricy. But comparing them to professional camera robots (like Kira from Motorized Precision) it's nice that theres something available at the consumer level. Would love to have access to a Kira though lol.
