That’s right. There should be two: the larger one that holds the slider, then the smaller ball head from the befree live mini tripod. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@SamHolland Thanks yes. I saw that one. It's a great little slider, but I don't have the budget for the extra pan and tilt head yet. The GVM has the panning right out of the box. Pity the Zeapon doesn't do so. The Konova has both options but the tilt and pan head is very pricey. Hard to choose. Especially on a budget.
Great vid, Sam! No matter the type of dolly move, I love having foreground/background to add depth/parallax. Also, I keep a rubber band on the handle of my tripod for delicate pans or delicate dolly moves so that it takes any shakiness from my fingers... it's like an super, lo-fi analogue easy-ease keyframe :)
I bought the GVM motorized slider and I think it is excellent. I shoot multicam live theatre, concerts and dance shows. I thought this would would create a little bit of life into my wide shot. The set up is the problem, I am setting up 3-5 cameras setting up the slider is too much, especially when I have to set up cameras in the audience seating area.
Has anyone experienced weird motor noises from this unit? It's nearly silent until I turn up the speed to 93%. Then it's whinny like a toy RC car. Anyone know if there's a way to lube the motor or something? Do I just have a dud?
Hi Jared. I haven’t had any issues with mine until I start adding weight to the rig. I don’t know how much weight you have but maybe have a look at that. Thanks for watching. I hope that helps 🙏🏻🎥
It can do depending on the weight I have on the camera, if I’m using my external monitor etc, and a little when it gets to the edge. I’m currently reviewing another slider which seems super smooth so stay tuned for that one 🤩👌🏻🎥
Do you know if we can installed upside down? In order to install the track and a pats cam hanging of from the slider… I just have this idea for small places that you need to lower your cam but not much space.
Superb follow-up to the original review. Subscribed. Just curious-- which wide angle are you using here, and which camera are you using with it? Thanks!
i currently have a list/cart on amazon full of about 22 items (BMPCC4K, Meike 25mm lens, Wireless follow focus doe Ronin S, Samsung T5 1TB SSD, BM4K battery and charger, extension plate, $40 LED for camera mount quick release, mew heavy duty tripod, 7" monitor, battery and charger for monitor, etc...) one of the items on my list is a DJI Ronin S... i feel like i'd be using this for 90-99% of my shots for any project from music videos to comedy shorts to horror short films... HOWEVER. my budget is $2,900... i've added $200 to that budget recently and now my cart is at $3,500...... i've had to remove a RODE shotgun mic and blimp cover from my list because of budget - IS THERE A WAY i can get smooth "walk around"/handheld shots without a DJI Ronin S or gimbal? if i can- i'd like to wait on it and remove the $560 from my cart for it. plz help - i need a rode shotgun mic and some LED lights that are $200 ish and i'm more interested in a motorized slider (one i don't have to buy a bunch of $100-300 accessories to work)--- plz halp with advice! what list of specific SMALLRIG brand stuff could i get that's less money than the gimbal that will not be shaky and terribly looking? if i delete gimbal for now that means i don't have to spend $250 on a wireless follow focus either and i can delete extension plate as well as other accessories that are DJI Ronin S specific thank you for your time!
Hi thanks for your question. That is a large list! The glide cam stabilisers are great. Take a little extra setting up but you could get one second hand if you want to save money. They also require a little practise but the results are great. If it’s a motorised gimbal you’re after, there are more affordable gimbals on the market too. You can always go second hand. With the new DJI gimbals coming out, you should see a drop in price of the older versions now too. Hope that helps 🙏🏻🎥
Think the first one is the best one to use in most cases, classic movement and combine that with forground to create depth and your good to go Nice Video Sam and congrads for hitting 1500, remember the times of 80 subs, keep on going !
Loved the video. Being a tech nerd,I watched till the end and didn’t skip(all us RU-vidrs wish our watch time increases 😅). I would love your feedback on the Ashanks C400 - it has a flywheel and also has a really powerful motor. But it does not have the auto pan feature. It’ll be my first motorized slider and I’d love your opinion. Love and good wishes from INDIA 🇮🇳♥️✌🏻
Hey. Thanks for watching. It’s much appreciate 🙏🏻 I have never tried that before so I can’t give my proper opinion on it I’m afraid. Can you try it before you buy? 🎥
Sam Holland No problem. Unfortunately the try and buy option isn’t available here. I am confused between the GVM 80QD,Zeapon Motorized Micro 2 & Ashanks C400. The GVM 80QD is legitimately a good slider, right?
I’ve had no issues with the GVM. Amazing for the price. If you’re doing regular paid work it may be worth getting the expensive rhino slider or something like that. But this is perfect for youtubers and enthusiasts. Hope that helps 🙏🏻
Hi. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻 it all ready depends on what type of thing you’re filming and if you need the length. And also if you prefer a compact slider. 🎥🎉 I hope this helps. It’s all down to you and the job at hand
Again, it all comes down to what you want. I guess the longer the slider, the more movement you will get and the more obvious it will be that movement is taking place. 🙏🏻🎥
Hey this was great man! Was looking into buying a slider for a while now! Thanks also for giving me ideas for for my next video!!!! Btw the godox sl60w, what a beast right!!?? Got mine 2 weeks ago!!
What's your tripod model ? I also have this slider but i wan to find a good and sturdy tripod that will hold the slider's weight and won't collapse while mounting the slider with the camera.
Hmmmm they do if you don’t mind shakey movement and doesn’t need to be super smooth. I have the manfrotto befree live and that’s got a part fluid head and it’s lightweight and packs up small but it’s a little pricey. Worth it though. 👌🏻
Sam Holland thanks man! I don’t often use a tripod so that’s why I didn’t want to spend a lot on them! Those manfroto be frees are brilliant tho! I just wanted a handy compact one for the bag that’s all
Hopefully this hasn't been asked yet, but are you using the same tripod to hold the slider as in your description in this video? I'm getting shaky results with my slider without using two stands.
Looks like a 502 to complete the set up - but you're sworn to secrecy Sam ! Liked all the techniques so tough shout but i think a cup of tea on top of the camera arriving from below the desk would be cool too ! Loving the channel so exceedingly good cakes Mr Kipling. Now,the only thing that's getting me down is.....gravity....
@@SamHolland yeah I was actually trying to write a bit more but got interrupted lol I had a slider first but it was just too much work. So I end up using towels or even magazines lol
Your videos are fantastic! Informative and entertaining! THANK YOU!!! The slider video is great, and really helped me out. And this follow-up is really helpful! Keep it up! I already subscribed!
Thanks so much David. So pleased you enjoyed and I hope it helps in some way. Got a good one coming on Monday for ya. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend 🤩🙏🏻🎥
Great Video i missed you almost dropping something tho ahahahaah. I wish i can afford the GVM. The problem with this awesome videos is that we want all that gear that you showed right away to try that shots but is all too expensive. Great work Sam!
Hi Hugo. Thanks for watching. 😂 haha I think I almost drop something in every video! Yeh I do try and show the most affordable options for people to check out but it’s all still expensive. Just gotta keep working 💪🏻💷💷
This one doesn’t. It just has its own ramp speed. It’s ok for the most part. Would be nice to control a little more settings but it’s great to get started. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻🎥
Really great advice, thanks. Had one on my wish list having seen your other video and got it £150 cheaper through a Prime day deal today! Can’t wait to try out some of you tips. Btw, I have a good gimbal but can never get it so this enough, so looking forward to this making a difference and to try with time lapse 😊👍
Hi Susanne. You want to check this one out for that… ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kFj41zTc1yc.html Hope this helps 🤩🙏🏻🎥 thanks for watching
Thanks did this video! I just bought the GVM & love it. Could you suggest a tripod that works well with it, perhaps one that gives you that option to swap the head onto the GVM?
Hi. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻 sure. I use the manfrotto legs with the fluid head. Super strong and sturdy legs to hold the weight of the slider. The links are in the description because I always forget the exact names of the products I have 😂 hope that helps. I’m pleased you like the slider 👌🏻🎥
I bought this slider a couple of days ago, whenever I set it up to track or pan it starts to vibrate when it’s reaching the ends. Any tips to make it work?
Hi. That’s strange. It sounds like something is in the way of the bands or there is too much weight on it? Check the break too and make sure that is loosened. Like the mistake I made 😂 if non of that works, definitely ask the manufacturer
@@SamHolland thank you.. I'll check. Can you do a quick video tutorial on that? Maybe just a quick focus on mounting on a tripod before moving on? Thanks
Hi Sam. Thanks for the great videos. Do you know of a convenient formula to calculate the number of shots and distance travelled, factoring in the interval and speed values? Eg if I wanted 450 shots over the length of the rail with a specific interval/stop time/time delay. Nothing in the manual gives any indication of this.
Great video as usual. My question is I'm having hard time balancing the camera while using 1 tripod setup (I'm using the same gear you are using but with the Canon R5) I always get this jitter movement when the camera crosses over the center of gravity of the tripod. (again same tripod you are using and same slider). My slider is still brand new and I checked the rails and bearings and everything seems fine. The only thing I am suspecting is slightly loose is the rubber belt which I'm not sure if its the problem or not. I don't know how tight it should be but I wish you can make a follow up video on this matter. Thank you so much for the great content
Thank you. Sorry to hear you’re having problems. Is it something to do with the break screw? Is this loose enough? Thanks for watching. Hope this helps 🙏🏻🎥
This is common. You can either use a tighter focal length on your lens or angle the slider down a bit and angle the tripod head upwards. 👌🏻 hope that helps
DUDE wow... love this i really didn't even know you could do all this with a slider. (I kmow im a noob 😅) Favorite tip is hard... probably the tilt while keeping the camera straight but this was so great.
Hey bro! Thanks so much for watching again! So pleased you found some stuff that helps 🙏🏻 even if it’s just one thing, my job is done. Sliders can give you so many options and they can be so precise. 🎥
Good Evening I bought the GVM Camera Slider 48 ”from amazon at 28 Apr 2020 and and I have used it a few times. today i went to operate it while pressing the controller to move this slider just trembles without moving. can you tell me how to solve the problem?
