Update Gachapon Part changed since due to high temp within the Gachapon machine that would push film stocks to the limit the owner instead stuck in film used cartridges with magnets so u can put them on a freezer and along with that stuck in a paper slip that becomes an exchange slip for the designated film stock. cheerrs~ I thought I had Ultramax but that was a magnet and got an exchange slip for Fujicolor 100
Kodak Betrayed me in Ultramax Fashion
FYI typhoon is creeping alot and since im mostly stuck indoors (having trouble shooting film outside during this period of time/ too much wind/rain cant risk my GW690 yeeet)
***They do 35mm processing around 1-2hrs approximately...I forgot to say the most important part
I instead went to Camera Ueda, a Camera Shop located in Kamata, Tokyo
15-20min from Shinagawa stn...you can actually get their from Akihabara, Tokyo, Ueno, etc etc since the Keihin Tohoku Train actually passes by those station...
Kamata is a minor area which is famous for its downtown (old Japan arcade district/shopping vibe) and I found Camera Ueda is located in this area and thought it would be great to mention them on my channel since I think im the first person to check their stores...
Have to thank the owner for giving me the permission to shoot video and show ppl outside there are great gems in this camera shop
they have film/point and shoot (medium format cameras not much)
more towards SLR film a great location if you are looking for a camera
and film stocks.
*** I also after this video found an official Contax camera film Shop in Tokyo....trying to get my permission to shoot that video...
too much work too little time....

Wow, a hidden gem! I love the surprise "easter egg" type coin machine for those indecisive "what do I shoot today" people like me lol 😂. Great coverage video!

Hi Ryo-san, I'm back in Sydney after 8-weeks holiday back in my homeland (UK). I was based in SW London. Great to catch-up with your videos, especially this last one where you caught the street parade (please try to include more local Japanese content like this when you're out on location taking photographs). The local camera shop looks very inviting and well worth a detour when I make my next trip (or stop-over) to Tokyo (I've done Sydney-London via a stop-over in Japan before). The idea of a lucky draw for film stock is enticing! Best wishes, Barrie

thanks for commenting really appreciate it I will try my best but the typhoon is sweeping around Japan at the moment Aug~Sept...and its actually hard to go out to shoot around in this kind of windy rainy weather....its interesting since soo many ppl who follow me keep sending me DM/direct messages via instagram about various camera shops and I keep saying I only have one life...trying to balance visiting various camera shops while shooting photos and scanning editing videos/photos its getting hectic which although its making my life busier im starting to love it once the typhoon season is over im planning on to shoot more if the sky clears up...cheers

Awesome video Ryo! Really enjoy the videos of camera shop finds! Great work on the single take recording too! Love the idea of gashapon with film rolls XD Indeed there are no limits to what one can get in a gasha!

If your ever in Tokyo There's Gachapon Mayehem theme park which will blow everyone's mind....I'm looking for a camera miniature gachapon if I find one would be nice just giving it a try :). Unfortunately Portra is too expensive 🫰 so it's not an option but it would be nice to see

@@RM.TokyoPhotographerplease do share, I want to visit it and get a mini camera too XD I visited Tokyo in April, was surprised to see so many gashapon outside of Yodobashi at Akihabara, then a good section of top floor had more too :D well actually every mall had at least a row of them. Even at Haneda airport

I always enjoy window shopping used camera stores. There is something intriguing about the different designs and lens makers. Even a smaller local camera stores can be interesting to tour. I collect and use several film cams, and still enjoy them. Film calls on us to focus, to set the shutter speed, etc. There is no microchip to do the work, and our sense of achievement is greater because of it. Would suggest you do your video from an outline and hit the highlights of what local shops offer and what local camera clubs do. ❤😊

Thanks for commenting ☺️ various lense makers each and every one of them have some kind of design optic philosophy what the first priority is. That's one of the reason I came back to film there's this uncertainty that I will mess up somewhere which might not be a failure but a hint to success. Everything mechanical. Understanding where the light is...no preview LCD to eyeball it which is thriving. Like living on an deserted island with a smartphone to enjoy life without electronic distraction

which used camera shop would you recommend to find Contax (G2 and T2 , T3) ? (except Filmcameratokyo which are kind of overpriced imo)
@RM.TokyoPhotographer
@RM.TokyoPhotographer 6 месяцев назад
Contax camera are already overpriced here there like 1000+2000+ 3000$usd unfortunately and most places I know are already hiking to higher prices and shops that do ship outside charge even more due to insurance etc etc

Any suggestions for places that can process Black & White 120/135 with a relatively quick turnaround? I eventually found National Photo out in Harajuku that had 2 day, but it was very far from where I typically stay. Also, you can find Cinestill 400 and 800 in-store at Lemon Camera Inc out in Shinjuku. It's pricy though. Wonderful heads up on Camera Ueda, I'll definitely check it out next time I'm out that way!

Sorry for unable to reply but I was actually looking around and found a place just phoned them today... Prolabservice-net www.tac-photo.co.jp/prolab/ they have their shop located Near Nakano Shinbashi Station (Marunouchi Line) 7min away walk or Shinjuku Go Chome Stn (Ooedo Line ) 10-15min away walk open 10:00am-17:30pm they told me if its around 10 rolls they can do it within a day if more than depending how busy they are up to 15 or more it might take more than 1 day...CHEERS

Maybe you can try to develop by yourself. BW films are pretty easy to develop. Most labs probably will develop them manually one by one, unlike C41 films, so understandably it's not fast.
