Cameron McAdoo had a nasty crash on the first lap of the first 250 moto at Round 1 of the 2022 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Fox Raceway in Pala, CA.
What does it matter when every single one is full sending it over the step up anyways. I know they're past the accident zone but they should still be in a yellow zone, no? We have to pass another flag position before being considered good to go, but these flaggers seem to be spread out on a whim, cause they're horrible.
@@Mcbrough234 The girl in the video at the top of the jump has no business leaving her post or waving her flag. Needed to stay where she was to have the ability to warn if theres a downed rider on the back of the jump.
He reminds me of James Stewart in the latter part of his career and Ryan Villopoto in the middle part of his. Those two had some earth moving crashes. Unfortunately timing is something too as one learned and went 4 straight and one retired. Lets hope that McAdoo goes the Ryan route.
AMA needs to step up and start making it more clear to owners to train their flaggers. Most of these ppl don't have a clue about racing, then they put a flag in their hands
Agreed! Got to give it to the girl for volunteering and running down to try to help, but the AMA/MX Sports should really make it their problem to have more flaggers in the run up to one of the bigger jumps on the calendar.
@@tomsuntv I have had numerous issues with the AMA over the yrs. I have personal experiences of their mishandling at events. They love taking our money but can't seem to protect the riders. Whether it's with dangerous track conditions or dangerous obstacles, someone needs to do a better job

@@Damian_playsBass Had that too. Breaking it hurt worse than surgery, but both sucked. Had the surgery in the winter so my allergies were quiet. Glad you made it through!!!!!
@@Damian_playsBass OH my gosh man, my father in law had his broken for heart surgery as well. I have heard of that pain and I know you went through it! Glad it sounds like you recovered though!!
maybe someday promotors will pay real money for intelligent people to be in those positions, nothing against the girl but she obviously needed more training.
I was almost a flagger at a Supercross event. Right up to the last minute on the day of. I’m an amateur racer. I was appalled at the process and who they would pick. It was a volunteer thing and they would take anybody with a heartbeat with next to zero training to do it. Only reason I wasn’t on it is because others were there before me and they had their allotment of numbers but you should have seen who these people were. Imo if not paid people who know what they are doing, they should at least be present or former racers who are fit enough to move and run around. Granted that was 20 years ago but it doesn’t seem like it has changed.
Those high side style crashes that whip you into the ground are so much more brutal than just flying off into the ground. You are thrown + your speed into the ground. It’s horrible
@@xooci they’re a gnarly way to crash. Many broken collar bones from the exact thing, & plenty of concussions I’m sure. One of my most crazy vivid memories was flying through the air from a 3rd gear high side crash. Time slowed down, & I just thought “this is going to be a hard one”. It wasn’t that bad, but boy I thought for sure I was going to die.
For future reference for track owners teach the Flagger to be on the same side as the down rider so when racers see the flag they go to the opposite side and avoid running over the downed rider!!!it’s not that hard people
First that's the flagger for the downside of the jump, Second the flagger is never to cross or go on the track! Its that simple, she did exactly what she should have done. If any thing another flagger was needed but he crashed on a strait section that every one could see.
@@jamescox4823 She shouldn't have been waving her flag at the top of the jump, confusing all the riders. She should have ran closer to McAdoo and then started waving. Either way, she messed up.
Who ever is in charge of this race needs to put one flagger where that crash occurred and one where that young lady ran from now there is no flagged at the top to see if anyone crashes on the back side of that jump. PISS POOR SAFETY.
A flagger on the corner before should be more than adequate.she done goofed, completely agree with you though,she created a blind spot by leaving her position that could have been potentially dangerous should someone crash on the downside.
Why wouldn't people try to discourage him from coming back? He obviously doesn't know how to ride within his limits and always pushes well beyond. He should quit while he still has his health ....before it is too late, if he has not already incurred lifelong injuries that will only get worse as he gets older. All for his ego.
Pretty harsh to think he should give up everything in life he's worked towards. It's easy to say that if you're not in that position. I do wonder about his trainer/coach Nick Wey. Same coach for AC9 and there's been numerous bad decisions from that camp. He just needs someone to give him better advice on riding and maybe the mental side. When you're twenty and this is all you've worked at your whole life, you don't just give up on everything.
Rides over his head. Its all self inflicted. He will either learn to calm down like Forkner or get used to getting 1st place finishes to the ambulance.
The girl was directed by a guy in the hat to come down. We cant see if there is anyone waving a flag on the other side of the track before the crash site. Thats the person that should be waving a flag. It is a case of not enough flaggers, and people interferring (what was hat guy's function?).
It also looks like no one else was taken at line just because it was so rough but it’s hard to know these tracks if you don’t have a whole lot of time on them plus it just seemed like there was a lot of spots on that track that really

@@ds6329 so considering that i havent worked as a flagger before and never had flagger training, but still came to this conclusion by using just logic thinking. it really makes me concerned for riders safety in a AMA sanctioned series. why do they choose flaggers who cant think at all? seriously, this is worse organisation than low end amateur racing in europe.
@@eaglestrikeman194 "Your job is to wave this flag when I tell you or when you see a crash. Now, stand on that stand by the ramp." I'm sure that's how that went. I'm giving her a little leeway, but I agree with you. Should be experienced flaggers or else someone can get hurt.
@@ds6329 dont understand me wrong im not blaming her for anything. im sure she didnt put any rider in danger on purpose. sure the behaviour is nonsense but how could she know better when noone told her? i just think its a shame that there is that much money in the sport to pay millions for sponsorship in pro ranks but somehow not enough to pay at least for a 30 minutes crash course on flagging rules for every flagger before the event.
Dam Cameron I just knew if anyone challenged Jett it would be you judging from supercross, I pray for your healing it sucks for any rider having any injury this one seems scarier than others! Get well soon buddy!!
Saw a couple guys nearly endo off that inside bump and have to slow down to double at the last second. Also saw some guys do a chadapult (chad reed Millville crash) style tank slapper going up the face. Maybe not the best lead up to a huge jump
Hope he’s ok, especially after just coming back from injury. It looked like he turned his wheel before landing🤷♂️ was he already out of shape coming off the jumped? Don’t know why you’d land with your wheels not pointing straight. Get better Cameron, from down under🤙🤙✊
This kid needs to stay on a 250 and never go up to 450s for his own safety love the kids heart but far out needs to spend more time on the basics and get bike control down pact bless him lord
It will still happen but less. I'm not against safety but that's why riders take the risk. Less restrictions means more room for technique at the cost of safety. And when a rider wears the most safe equipment and still gets injured, they reevaluate their choices. If it was regulated I'd be on board but right now I understand the rider's choice to be fast. I personally would wear everything 😀
At first I was laughing at the girl with the yellow flag out after the crash but then I realised there were no flaggers anywhere before the crash. There was a dude on the inside of the corner before it but that was too far away. Need more flaggers and better ones but the girl at least tried and actually ran down towards the crash.
That was at about 40-50 MPH…maybe More…Dude is a FAST Rider !…how bout the one where his Boot got Stuck on the Bike somehow,& it Whipped Him then Slammed Him😫….MX has a BIG Price you pay when you Crash…Tib Fib,3 broken collarbones,Fractured Neck Vertebrae,Torn ACL,Broken bone in my Hand…& I Still Race🤣🤣🤣…glad he’s OK…R I P MaGoo😢
