I took the heel down on the club drill to the range today. Huge results for me... I've been a long time early extender with hips moving toward the ball. All kinds of strike and direction issues. This made a massive difference for me. Thanks Brodie and Cameron!

What was the score of your first full round, and then compared to now? I just started playing 5 months ago and shot an 82 today (43/39). Inconsistent ball striking is my Achilles heel, so thanks for the drill and I’ll try it out tomorrow.

Played for approx 6 years, self taught, discovered this drill earlier this year for myself contact improved massivly. Good to see drill in video. Look forward to next course vlog see how it helps your game.

I like this series but I cringed when I heard about hitting 6 irons 212 or 214. I'm 72 and I carry 6 irons about 128! Why the hell am I bothering!

Yeah well the pro's stay centered through the shot (hence the pure ball striking), they don't extend early into the ball (keeping their butt at the line drawn behind their ass throughout the whole swing), their chest is pointing down through impact and they are able to do so because of their hip-, hamstring- and lower back flexibility. Dustin Johnson is WAY open with the hips at impact, whereas Tiger, Rickie, Koepka, Scott and say Spieth are more synced with the rest of the swing.

Brodie, I feel like this drill is helping you not in the way that you think or intended. In this video and the one where he was trying to help you with your driver slice, he's most into getting you to maintain your posture/swing angle/make good contact, which is of course important. He admitted that you had to take care of that before dealing with swing path, which is maybe the right way to go about things. But the reason you were hitting huge slices in that video is pretty obviously because you were coming across the ball, i.e., making contact while the club is traveling outside in rather than inside out. The reason that you hit some nice straight shots in this video with this drill is because it delays your shift in weight, which keeps your arms back in place for longer, which ends up helping with your swing path. I've gone through a similar stint myself... where I was trying to keep my weight back longer, which helped me come inside out. The problem is you'll be losing power by not shifting your weight to that front side. And if you don't realize why your shots are going straighter, you may start compensating in weird ways and end up coming across anyway even while keeping your weight back. The best is to realize that you just need to delay your arms more and try to keep them on an inside out plane. You shouldn't be too worried about picking up that right heal and shifting your weight as long as your club is on the right path. You can see in this video of tiger, his right foot comes up almost immediately on the downswing. He doesn't mind shifting all that weight because he knows his club is coming inside out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ppDvhlGr5nI.html Just thought I'd share with you in case it can save you some stress in the future. If you aren't worried about your power and keeping that weight back really helps you come inside out consistently, then there's probably no harm. But you should at least know why it's helping.

I actually worked this into my practice the past few weeks. Keeping my right heel on the ground and using it as a reference point. It's made a world of difference in strike and fixing hooks.
