as a huge fan of camilla and ariana, each version really suits the specific singer. like this is such a camilla song and doesn’t sound like an ariana song at all. but ariana took it and made it her own, which with that version does not sound like a camilla song at all. i love both versions for the uniqueness they each offer and they’re essentially completely different songs ❤❤❤
Camila's version feels more like a love-ish song while Ariana's screams female empowerment, and Ari's sound is much better on the track..i'm not saying Camila's is bad, but i really don't find it to be good neither..this is Ariana's song and i'm glad they gave it to her
It's not uncommon for a song to be offered to more than one singer before one officially releases it. Once an artist puts it out though, it's considered to be their song. so another artist putting out their version officially too would be frowned upon. Basically it's understood in the industry that whoever releases the song first owns it. Back in 1997, LeAnn Rhimes and Trisha Yearwood both got offered How Do I Live and they both decided they didn't give af what the other was going to do, they were putting theirs out regardless. So they both released their versions around the same time. They both got nominated in the same category at the Grammys, LeAnn performed the song at the show, then Trisha actually won the award. It was super awkward lol. Artists generally want to avoid that kind of situation. Creates too much direct comparison with your competitor in the industry. Plus they really want you to believe pop singers write their own songs, and if they both put out versions of the same song at the same time, it makes it obvious they sourced the song from the same songwriter and didn't actually write it themselves. And ultimately, there was probably a reason she decided to pass on the song in the first place anyway.
The current controversy surrounding JoJo Siwa's new single is an excellent example of how releasing a song as your own when another artist's version already exists can easily backfire. Public response to it is generally going to be negative, people just don't see it as a good look
I love this version. Arianas was good for a little while but then it became way too popular and I just can’t listen to her anymore. Plus, it felt like she followed a pattern, and Camila took it a whole different direction. Maybe they should colab that would be kind of cool.
It actually fits Camila more but it would've either been something we expected on her previous Latin Album or her upcoming album XoXo it fits that vibe. It does sound like a love song Camila is known for making meaningful love romance and bedroom songs as well as dance hits.
It's amazing how 2 different artists interpretation can change the vibe of the same song, both versions are amazing 😮 . I'm leaning towards the Ariana version though, it makes me feel empowered 🥰
0.37 melody reminds me of genie in a bottle melody when Christina sings im a genie in a bottle baby. And on Arianas version that instrumental at the beginning reminds me of Christina's throughout on genie in a bottle.
I definitely still like this version. But I feel like it wouldn't work as a single. It would just be living in the album. And that's fine with me because this song is more of A Love note to someone. So it's more personal and it's okay that It wouldn't have been a single.
i like this one better :O the mix at the end is fire. Ariana's version starts off with sexy vibes and ends with church choir vibes which made it weird imo xD

Why can’t the release both like that Lee Ann Rimes song and Trisha Yearwood song “How Do I Live Without You” both versions give it a different feeling and more depth.
I absolutely love this version more than Ariana’s. I can feel the passion and love in this song, which is just Camila’s style. Ariana’s is more with women empowerment and it’s great, but I don’t like it as much because it was overplayed and doesn’t connect with my emotions as well as this one

Some people love cover/unreleased songs better than the original and that is okay! Just because Ariana was the one who officially released it does not automatically mean she did it better.

The verses didn't have much impact compared the ones Ariana made in her version. But the chorus here is more powerful than Ariana's. I wish they did God is a Woman as a collab.
Ya know - that was pretty damn good. Just read where CC "gave" the song to Ariana Grande, who did a, well, pretty damn good job on the song. Dylan and Hendrix both did "All Along the Watchtower". Dylan wrote it and kicked ass, then Hendrix ran with it. Won't turn off either version.
