Camille Pissarro: A collection of 978 paintings (HD)
Description: "The only painter to exhibit in all eight Impressionist exhibitions organized between 1874 and 1886, Camille Pissarro became a pivotal artist and mentor within the movement. While the Impressionists are known for their depictions of city streets and country leisure, Pissarro covered his canvases with images of the day-to-day life of French peasants. His greatest work joins his fascination with rural subject matter with the empirical study of nature under different conditions of light and atmosphere, deriving from intense study of French Realism. Like those of his Impressionist cohorts, his paintings are delicate studies of the effect of light on color in nature. However, he continually sought out younger, progressive artists as colleagues, and his articulation of scientific color theory in his later work would prove indispensable for the following generation of avant-garde painters."

Pissarro is waay underrated. He's not afraid to use darks for depth, at times, and there is such a wonderful serenity which shows in his work. Even the Paris street scenes seem full of people, each with a perfectly good purpose for being where they are. As I watch this, it's his people that blow me away. Every farmer and peasant looks like he or she belongs perfectly in the landscape. Some painters just place figures in the landscape to make the picture seem more interesting or dynamic. Pissarro paints them exactly as they were, with perfect gestural rendering. Even in the street scenes, or in that scene along the river, each person, some must be really small figures, has a different attitude: of shoulders, head, legs, hats. You can almost guess which ones are impatient, which are long-suffering, which eager to get to the next thing. People need to appreciate this guy more. More love for Pissarro!

My favourite impressionist. Does light like no-one else. It can just be a painting of a non-descript street and yet it somehow becomes magical with Pissarro's touch.

Pissarro's Pointillism is so delicate and fragile that you hardly dare breathe ! He was an avant-gardist among the impressionists ! I admire him a lot , as does his mother Susanne Valadon ... Thank you so much for this excelent Opus !!!

Thank you for the download. It is only now that I understand the meaning of Cézanne's statement: "We are all derived from Pissarro". Cézanne, Monet, Gauguin, Van Gogh and all that followed would not have existed without him. He was the trailblazer, the forerunner, the explorer of paths, the master who showed them how to find in themselves what they were looking for. Himself having dug many wells without really reaching his water allowed them to find their own. It is an irreparable loss for the understanding of modern art that 1500 of Pissarro's most essential paintings were destroyed during the Prussian invasion of France in 1871.

A boulevard from a city, looking north perhaps, grays street barren of people, two little girls walk so alone, a glimpse of life, walk into the back of the painting? Pissaro could capture a story in his genre of paint and scenes. How beautiful his sense of time, season, story, persons who lived in the scene of summers, harvests, river, streams, brooks all run through his fields the street and paths, one would walk in disappear? Lovely enchanted painter of scenes nature really is alive, people live lives of everyday deeds love stories of the heart? Pissaro a painter of color and points, lines...

The objective of artists is to see the World through Gods eyes. Paintings like these show how ethereal love of the Universe sees the sacred moments of the World. To look through the Universes eyes makes life sacred . This is destiny sometimes.

Pissarro painted landscapes around the cities of Pontoise (NW of Paris) and Montmagny (N of Paris) where Parisians used going for walks in the countryside, have a glass of wine (or more...) and dance to the popular bands in the cabarets. These places are interesting to visit. In Pontoise there is a Pissarro Museum dominating the old city. You can go to the Butte Pinson, a small hill where Pissarro painted, by the tramway line 5, station Alcide d'Orbigny, from the historic city of Saint-Denis (the head station for Tram 5 is at Marché de Saint-Denis). It is a fine walk in a popular area (with a Pakistani community), with well-kept small gardens (and no tourist at all...).

"Jeune paysanne à la baguette, assine" (Camille Pissarro) Aquela guria. Donzela do campo. Uma donzela que encanta. Perfilha do capataz. Dhiogo Caetano
