This was a toughie. It rained and rained and rained. Almost from the moment I reluctantly left the tiny, but stunningly beautiful mountaintop village of O’Cebreiro till I arrived at Samos Monastery nearly 20 miles and 8 hours later.
But it was worth every cold, wet step through the magical forests of Galicia. Samos is an active Benedictine Monastery which can only be visited via a guided tour given by the monks themselves. That done it was off to Sarria. But not on foot. A quick cab ride got me to the city from where nearly half of all pilgrims walking the French Way begin their road to Santiago.
