I enjoy your videos. I check every day to see if you have made any trip updates. Thanks for the camera information; it produces wonderful pictures and you do a great editing job..

Good Morning So glad you are enjoying the videos. They are taking a bit of time to review and edit. Otherwise there would be 2 hours a day of walking. I did focus the filming on the walk and not the destination towns as the Camino was the focus.I am committed to getting them all done just takes a few days each. Thanks again

Hi, I have been following your trek with great interest. I hope to make this pilgrimage one day too. I really enjoy your narrations and the tensile video clips . I'm Dave in Missouri but have an adopted Spanish daughter that lives in Pontedeume Galicia Spain. This is only a short distance from where the Camino finishes up at the ocean. I'll retire in about 5 years, then I'll have enough time to invest in this passage. I do actually have a question for you please. What kind of camera are you using? And tell me about the mic (parrot) perched on your shoulder please. The light has been too low so I can never get a good view of it. The pair are working well for you, so I'm quite interested. I looked like maybe some model of a Hero camera I'm thinking.

Hi David: It is great to hear that you have enjoyed the videos. It was such a fantastic experience for my wife and I. However the sheer time put into walking sometimes does not let you really remember all the places you go to. The film we are looking at now is bringing back so much of the details. So no matter what anyone says I believe a camera is a must. You guessed right, I am using a GoPro Hero 5 and a holder that is attached to my my back pack's strap.. So I just push a button to turn it off and on, just about hands free. I had a RODE Videomicro with a 'dead cat' fur ball to reduce wind noise, two problems 1: the fur ball would get in the picture 2: one of the 3 connections to the mic would come loose over the day and at the end of the day I would have no sound on ANY videos for the day. At the end I just used the the camera mic. The camera was always mounted on the bracket on my back pack and it was the parrot from then on.I did buy an aluminum case that also had a lens cover so I could drop my pack and not have to be to fussy about the camera as it was protected. I would suggest to play with the camera a bit ahead of time to be used to it, I made a lot of rookie mistakes. I also had a portable hard drive with me that was 2 T. The footage I would film every day would amount to 15 to 70 G. The hard drive is 75% full just from raw footage. Hope this helps and I really hope that you get to do the Camino. I'm using Filmora to edit the film and it takes me longer to edit and up load a day of film than to actually walk it, so this will take up most of my winter. Buen Camino Peggy and glen

camino peggyglen2017 Perfect Glen, Thank you for your tips and notes about your equipment and all. I definitely agree that we miss so many details in realtime. The video will be so valuable to catch the details later on. The Hero mic is great. I could her very clearly and wind noise isn't bad cuz the camera is tucked in a bit I guess. What I really like the most though is how well the camera stays in focus with a great depth of field, as well it holds a really steady exposure. These are all things my iPhone 5S suck at accomplishing. This is why the Hero is a standard for this sort of application. Your setup works very well for tracking your motion too. It seems to generally be point where it makes sense and captures a nice balance. Not too much sky or ground. You have it aimed very well and it seems to hold pretty stable too. For sure the external drive is great, its nice they are so small these days and don't cost an arm and a leg anymore. Practicing with the equipment ahead of time is great advice. The case you have for the camera is a Hero product too? I wonder if their underwater case would offer similar protection at a reasonable price?.......with the benefit of being waterproof and something to take in the water too. Looking forward to your next video installment. I'm all caught up now. Also thank you for the name of your video editing program. I like the ability to show multiple videos and photos at one time......the video quality on RU-vid is nice too. Full screen on my iPad looks great. Thanks again, talk to you later.
