Safe walking the long uphill climb today! We left SJPDP Tuesday from Albergue that was about 1km outside the city, on the napoleon route. We were unable to get a place in Orisson or Borda for the night so we pushed through to Roncevallas. Beautiful walk but very difficult. It took us 12 hours with three changes of socks from rain and mud. The staff at Roncevallas Albuerge were so welcoming and helpful. We managed to get dinner and quick shower before the lights went out. It was pretty cold and no blankets were provided so we layered our clothing to stay warm. Yesterday was a shorter 12 km day while still recovering from Tuesdays 22 km climb, and grueling 3 km downhill. Buen Camino
I start today also, walking to Bayonne to join the Camino del Norte. We seem to be fortunate with the weather as it has been raining most days until now but hopefully it'll be drier from now on. Buen Camino!
Buen Camino! I'll be starting next Tuesday. Question about clothes: Im trying to do as light as I can, do you think a fleece and a quick dry longsleeve shirt will be enough to wear to get over the pyrenes and onwards? Or will it be too cold?
Hard to predict with how quick the weather shifts but for now it's forecasting 70 degrees. That's basically what I wore with my shorts today and it was fine in the high 50s much of the day.
