Welcome back, fellow pilgrims and adventure enthusiasts! Join us in the latest instalment of our Camino del Norte series, where we encountered unexpected challenges along the 18km stretch from Ziortza to Gernika. Little did we know that Gernika, the historic home of Picasso would present us with a unique twist in our pilgrimage - a town with no available accommodation!. NOTHING!!!
It's a common hurdle on the Camino de Santiago, and we'll guide you through our way to deal with such a situation. Please remember i have walked 5 Camino's without needing to do this
Facing the prospect of spending the night under the stars, we had to improvise. Join us as we recount our journey, decision-making process, and the unexpected turn of events that led us to jump on a train to Bilbo (Bilbao) - a decision that ultimately turned our predicament into an unexpected celebration.
Bilbo, with its vibrant atmosphere and rich history, became the backdrop for our 24th wedding anniversary celebration. We'll take you along as we explore the city and find a cozy hotel, turning an unforeseen challenge into a memorable milestone on our Camino.
