The venerable Camlin Elegante has been the flagship of Camlin Kokuyo's fountain pen offering in India for decades. I take a closer look at it in this video.

Sir I was a big fan of Camlin, but I found the ink has a corrosive nature, you can switch to Daytone, or the best reliable Parker Quink

Thanks for your comment. Yes, it is not the best in the world, but just wanted to show the world. I like quink and daytone. Take care and do like and subscribe ✌🏽

I enjoyed watching your review of this Camlin pen. I own a similar model Camlin pen and they perform extremely well. I like the traditional clean design and build quality. I was very surprised at the low price of Camlin bottled ink. Not a brand I see here in the UK but remarkable value.

Thanks David. I’ve actually got a couple of Camlin pen reviews lined up. The ink is actually not very easy to find in India either. I chanced upon it at a tiny stationery and supplies store.

Sir also very poor in quality. In the indian fountain pen community it's not generally recommended or used. It clogs the pens in the long run...

@@p.r.s8675 Thank you for your comment. Perhaps that is why this ink is so inexpensive. Do you think the ink is too viscous or are there some impurities in the fluid that slows the ink flow? I wonder if 'The Top Shelf' has found the ink clogs his pens? I have never used Camlin ink and maybe I should avoid it.

Yes it’s not the best ink in the world, and I use it in my cheaper pens. As I’d mentioned, it smells very chemical-y. But it’s easy to wash off though.

@@davidanderson3425 I am not sure about the composition byt as far as I have seen there are ink particles clogged in feed. So it's not recommended...

I ordered this pen after watching your video, now it is Rs 225, but it was a damaged box and was leaking ink ☹.

Thanks for the review! It is also available is burgandy(body colour), but cap is the same. I generally use it as an eyedropper. Its nice wet nib gives a great witing experience.

It really is a beautiful looking fountain pen and for the price it is an amazing fountain pen. The only problem is the quality control on the nibs is not great as some of the nibs are really scratchy. I have a few of these fountain pens and i am talking out of experience. But overall the fountain pens ia really good value for money in every sense.

That's a fair assessment. I've also found that if you write with them on various types of paper the nibs smooth out within some time.

Brother... I want to have a medium nib that is smooth on any paper. It doesn't matter how the pen looks but how the experience is... Should i go with this pen? Also does it work good with the regular ink?
@nitina8564

@@manjitbhowmik6432 sure you can get this fountain pen, it's really good for the price it works well with most inks, I've use it with Diamine, private reserve, Pilot iroshizuku KWZ, Waterman and Parker inks. I would suggest you use the Parker black ink or the Camlin royal blue ink. They are great value for money inks and work well with this pen.

You pronounce "elegante" in perfect Spanish. The pen doesn't really catch my eye because of its too common appearance. However, considering the price, it seems to me quite an interesting option. I liked the way the nib writes, especially on Midori paper. I also liked the ink.

Thanks Miguel. Years of watching Spanish movies has helped 😀. The pen is just okay, no great shakes, but writes perfectly considering it’s for a mass market like India.

I certainly do. And I’m pretty sure there are many others who do too. 👍🏽

Quality control with camlin brand is too poor, not just with fountain pens but across all product range. Out of box it comes with zillions of scratches on both plastic body and metal cap, also the iridium dip size is variable in every nib. If you're lucky you may get one that writes smooth but have scratches on body or one in pristine body but nib is scratchy. Mine has decent nib not very smooth not too scratchy but the body and cap has so many scratches. Wouldn't be buying camlin products anymore. You will get this pen from firstcry website on a new account with free delivery at Rs 150. Which is a decent deal, had i paid 200 for this pen i would have been more disappointed.

Thanks for your comment Ashutosh. At the price that it is I wouldn’t expect it to last long anyway. Some other Indian brands are doing good work with their pens nowadays. Cheers and don’t forget to 👍🏽 and subscribe ✌🏽
