I love camouflage since i heared "The Great Commandment" and "Love Is A Shield". A Band that survives the Time !! The 80s was the best Time for Music, sorry, still IS !! Greetings to all 80s fans !
I got given this album in 1989 from a German student who was staying with us in the U.K. Firstly brilliant album, secondly On Islands should have been a global smash. I’m a Tears For Fears and a huge Depeche Modefan
( "Spice Crackers" 2CD - 2009 - Remastered )
I love the days of Vinyl. I used to have erasure, Depeche Mode, and Pet Shop Boys on vinyl. This brings back fond memories of my youth in the 80's and early 90's. Great album. Thank you.
Just got hooked up my HI-FI equipment again after 15 years. Camuflage was one of the first to spin on the turntable. Sooo glad to hear REAL Music again. :D
HOLY CRAP. I remenber every single song, but i never found the band... today I was listing to the radio and... there it is, one of them. So I used the shazan (love it) and all my memories are back! Thank you very much for the video. Made my day !!!! :-)
The way you present your videos is very original. Perfect image and sound. Also in FLAC quality, what else can we ask for? Wonderful job. As for Camouflage, this is their best record, at least for me. Greetings from Spain.
Depeche Mode .)))
Why should anyone? Camou is not too popular. But something popular can be avoided naturally. Reason may be different. But I should say Camouflage is one of those bands, who are fair to themselves and their listeners. It can't be wrong to follow them.
You could have told me this was Depeche Mode and I would have been fooled if it wasn't for the fact that I had it back then and Camoflauge is miles ahead of Depeche Camode. This album is an essential volume in late 80's alternative canon.
Got this on lp when it came out.Bits remind me of some of Bill Nelson's solo stuff...and I'm a huge Bill fan.'Feeling Down' borrows a keyboard riff from Simple Minds as well.Good stuff.
Das kann ich nun gar nicht nachvollziehen! Sorry!!!! Es erinnert an den Song Piano von Midge Ure aber doch nicht an Big band Sound a la James Last! Aua!!!
I like this style of music. But it is probably correct to say that the album, and Camouflage as a band, was behind its time. The heyday of such music was over. Depeche Mode could still get away with it, because they had built up a following earlier in the 1980s.
@louisaparker. Despite the negativity of the previous comment, you are absolutely correct. Synthpop peaked in '86/87. By '88/'89 the music was trending toward a harder sound with more mainstream instrumentation, & eventually giving way to grunge. Still, they had talent & I think they would have done better with a more cutting-edge producer. Part of the reason for the lack of widespread recognition was that they never broke any new ground. An example is 'On Islands': the girl speaking the Spanish lines is reminiscent of the French girl in Visage's 1980 'Fade to Grey'. I blame the producer for this lack of originality. Also, notice DM's sound evolved in the late 80s & early 90s. That evolution kept them relevant.
Their producer is... (ta-da!) ...Camouflage. They've mostly done all by themselves and not like industry wants to. And that's a great success really, because they were always on quite big labels they could afford. Metronome, Atlantic, RCA, WEA, SPV. They had moments of glory.
