Camp Mokulē‘ia Mix Plate Program educates Hawaii's youth on where their food comes from with the hopes of creating a more sustainable food system.
This year (April-May 2022), Camp Mokulē‘ia invited Chef Mark "Gooch" Noguchi of Chef Hui and Pili Group, Chef Emily Iguchi of Fête and Chef Kamalu Fujimoto of Sumida Farm to teach educators and community leaders from across the islands about canoe crops (‘ulu, ‘uala and kalo). Chefs and Camp Mokulē‘ia staff spoke about how teachers can incorporate local crops into classrooms, how to start their own gardens, and how they can cook with their keiki.
