I prefer playing characters than factions in this. They have too much character to them compared to games like attila

It's a very good Feature. Immortal is always good 😅😅 And i suppose it deactivate the family tree . So it's better for the CPU !! CPU is under heavy load in total war games. Anything that is easy on the cpu is good. Total War games are heavy for every CPU.

I’ve noticed that in campaigns where the Player Revealable Area is turned ON, completely random factions on the other side of the map will declare war on you for no reason. As Hanigalbat by turn 5 I was at war with 3 factions in Greece alone. Clearly a bug but would recommend leaving it off

Yeah I was also playing as Hanigalbat and I'm screwed over by some Aegean faction running their armies across the map to invade me.

no i have had that hapen to me without map showed... i was the furthest south egyptian and half greece declare war on me wtf.... have you guy got crashes too?

Sadly that has been going on since shogun 2. Its really sad how little total war AI has evolved over so many iterations. Every new game just gets AI with more and more cheats.

Lethality should be a slider, instead of set values then everyone can be satisfied!

Lowering your army upkeep allows you to build armies faster and conquer faster and the more resources you have the more your resources aren't in the red.

Doesn't matter if resources are in the red if you can keep trading stuff for them does it.

@@Costin_Gaming I do understand what your saying, what I'm saying is speed of conquest can be just as important as trading for it in my opinion, but I'm an old total war player I have been playing since the OG Shogun so maybe I'm wired different than how the Warhammer games and pharaoh play. I still play Attila mainly and the diplomacy is complicated 😂 as I'm sure you are aware. What I'm saying is that the way I approach it isn't by trading resources for land.

I would argue that since each culture has ancient lands and battles and conquering those lands gives you a TON of legitimacy. Granted yes there's only a limited amount of each of those lands in each area of the map but those have helped me SO MUCH.

Definitely agree with increasing morale penalty for flanking. I’ve found the Default value means that even at Hard difficulty the AI will fight to the death even if you get a complete surround

Playing on veteran battles, units still seem to be routing when flanked. At least lower tier ones.

well if you flank them with trash they can not run sometimes, only later a bit. But with chariots or good shock units, at least habiru raiders, it is enough usually so its not worth changing. And it is even without AI debuffing morale.

I used to set building cost for AI to low, otherwise they build too slower than me. And usually later in the game turn 10 or bit later set their upkeep halved so they can get more armies. Definitely wouldn't recommend lower upkeep for player, diplomacy bonus 10 or 20, and replenishment as it is basically cheating. It will be hard to use trading res with it fairly. Trading settlements I never used usually, maybe just to save some AI factions to play against them later. +4 recruitment is also makes thing quite easy anyway, especially with Bay, with Bay I would recommend not to change it and play with 2 slots all game plus getting one from Mennefer's wonder. It would make game much more diplo-focused and you can profit from getting units from vassals etc. Also I have notice in legacy game, that even when AI has def recr slots it can get more than 10 units early in the game! So it doesnt make point to change that thing for AI i guess. Allowing all powers helps, yes, it doesn't change anything basically however xD. I would set allow all legacies, it is really good as you may want Thutmose as Elam for example or traderouts as greeks or Babylon, or make a god of archers/melee units for some of the factions far away from Egypt or not even able to get their tradition.

Only faction where you want your character to age faster or die of old age at a reasonable pace is Babylon, because the Legacy of Hamurabi since only the current faction-leader dying will allow you to revoke some of the less advanced early-game laws. For all else I'd say that having them live long - that also meaning 12 turns/per year - is the most beneficial. Unless you really favor playing this game like, lets say Crusader Kings and watch a dynasty tree develop. Though having them live longer will also mean that that for factions that start with unmarried leaders (like Ramesses) you probably won't have an adult heir until you're done conquering all of of your core territory (Egypt in that case). Mine is still only 13yo at 240+ turns into the game, because I held off on marrying Ramesses to see if Tausret could be wifed after stomping Seti, so yeah... keep that in mind.

Edit: the Tausret thing was just a curiosity because the game states that her and Seti are supposed to be married. They have an alliance ingame and I'm now fairly sure that they are in fact not married in terms of the dynasty system. I tried to confederate her to see if that would work but for some reason she wouldn't accept that no matter what. Also vassalizing and adopting her into your dynasty won't work so I guess that's just something that cannot be achieved in the vanilla game.

It would've been nice to get a little more explanation for the "Features locked at start" option. It was also kinda hard to understand what you were trying to say about it.

@@Costin_Gaming Seemed weird that some features of the campaign are locked arbitrarily at the start of a campaign. I just rolled with it when I started a campaign cause I thought there was a good reason for it, but I guess not?

Personally i kinda like having the early game without those features. Lets you put 100% of your focus on your early game economy, diplomacy and battles, then once you're set up you get the courts and legacies to expand your game.

From the devs themselves in the recent post Issues with early game economy: Increase your own starting budget with the setting [Campaign] > [Player Starting Budget] Tweak the AI’s starting budget with the setting [AI] > [AI Starting Budget] Change army upkeep with the setting [Campaign] > [Player Army Upkeep] Issues with the AI producing armies too quickly: Increase your own recruitment capacity in the setting [Campaign] > [Player Recruitment Capacity] Decrease the AI recruitment capacity in the setting [AI] > [Recruitment Capacity]

Tbh I think it’s just fine because if you don’t like that units die too fast you can disable it for prolonged battles
