Nice job balancing the need to help the owner's wants of trying to salvage what they could with the need of clearing the scene and opening the road. It's definitely a balancing act. Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay safe.
Two points. Shows how safe you are in a camper or manufactured home in a strong storm. And what looks like trash that needs to be cleaned up to one person is the remnants of another person’s highly valued possession. Sad but it’s not a lost life.
campers are mostly held together with staples and glue i know i live in one all year in New England and even being a 1988 still same way as im doing a bunch of repairs due to age it
@jay s it's Neverending, I'd say upgrade, but the newer ones are built cheaper. Eventually, you'll get to the point, replacing everything a piece at a time, it'll be as good, or better than new. And as an added bonus, you'll know how to replace the part when it breaks again.
Given the two options I would prefer a camper/RV. A mobile home is designed with the ability to be careful moved from one place to another. It's not designed to withstand constant unavoidable abuse that an RV will experience by constantly being driven/pulled around.
Earlier this week, my wife and I were traveling from Florida to Maine for granddaughter graduation from 8th grade - big deal now days! Noticed that we were near Sumter, SC, so I looked up these guys address and went to the shop. They were there and got my picture taken with Hal & Mr. Wilbert. These are the nicest guys you would ever want to meet! Only regret that I didn't get the other guys in on the picture. Please keep making enjoyable videos!
Mr Jim We appreciate you, your wife and your dogs stopping. It is always a pleasure to see and meet our loyal viewers. Hope your granddaughter had an awesome graduation.Safe travels .
Incredibly nice to see your crew be respectful as always of the refrigerator and other items the owner was concerned about Mr. Hal. 👍 *Bravo my friend* Glad you could work together and get it all cleaned up. Nice to see the white international wrecker on scene earning it's keep. Stay safe out there fellas 🪝
Once again the Sumter Wrecker crew shows why they are the best and most professional in the southeast! You have the right equipment and an experienced crew to handle any situation!
That was quite the mess. Those people in the camper notification was just ruined. That thing fell apart like a stack of cards. You guys did a good job. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Mr. Hal nothing but the st jobs. Between you and Mr. Superman Wilbert know how to delegate what needs to be done and doing it safely. I guess from what I heard there was another company going to pull out the SUV. Glad that no one in either vehicles were hurt. Stay safe and have a good Memorial day. All gave some and some gave all to keep us free.
What a sad wreck. I couldn't figure out what exactly was pulling the little food shack. Boy, that camper sure flew apart! Glad no one was seriously hurt. Ay least I hope not. Mr. Hal you had a lot of experienced help. Good job. Stay safe out there, guys.
The problem with campers and the like of them is they are like a box of match's once opened they go every where thank you Mr Hal and the team for sharing their day
Wow. What a mess. I had seen several RV wrecks in my over the road driving years & they all end up looking just like this. The only thing identifiable was the ice box. I give you guys gredit as you have a big job involved in the clean up & with all that, you still show a heart of gold for the owners in helping them salvage what ever they can from what was left. These RV's are very costly & make quite the mess when they wreck. Great recovery & awesome to see the teamwork involved in clearing the mess. Stay safe guys.
Good job Mr Hal and the Sumter crew. They should have let you have it all . Sometimes the rotation system doesn't always work. You would have had it all cleaned up and out of there.😊 😊😊😊😊
Hi Mr. Hal Great vid. Teamwork. I was curious about the propane bottle on the food truck. Did anyone check for it and any leakage? Stay safe my friend.
I'm very surprised that trooper aloud him to dig through and salvage bits and pieces, most would have told him to get out the way so he can get that highway back open..
Nice job your crew are so professional. Thought it was so cool watching your crew helping the gentleman get his things. God bless you from Michigan ❤️ 😊
About the strength of balsa wood, shims, and staples; that’s an RV for ya. I know, I have a class A & full time in a small class C. No matter if motorhome or a TT, this is my greatest fear - to lose it all in a split second. Thank goodness everyone is OK.
Not much left when a camper trailer wrecks. Hard to believe unless you've seen it. You guys would have cleared it all up quickly had the Trooper let you have it all. Still a good job on your part.
Always hated mopping those messes up, "mobile shithouse" is what we always called them, for obvious reasons. At least 16 yard dump truck is your friend.
Ouch, what a mess y'all had on y'all's hands, any word on what caused the accident to occur? Hope the rest of your holiday weekend is a good and safe one
@@m9ovich785 I was thinking the travel trailer swayed & hit the Tahoe-trailer combo. The truck was drivable/usable and there’s damage on the side of the Tahoe and front of the kitchen trailer. The TT didn’t seem to have a lot in it (no books, clothing scattered) and there was a heavy generator on the back of the TT which could’ve made it tail heavy & susceptible to swaying. It is possible that the couple had already salvaged clothes etc. but it still seemed rather empty.
It always amazes me when I see professionals crossing over ( 11:15 ) or standing next to a line (cable, chain, rope) under tension. No line no matter the make or design is impervious to breaking.
Great job. I was wondering about u getting them all. Here we get all vehicles involved if its a fatality or not likely. Yes i try to be considerate of owners but they will not walk around my scene. Go downstream of the accident or go stand in the woods. Ill be gentle with your stuff but youll collect it at the yard. Do they always allow that long for wreckers to get on scene? We get like 20 minutes for light duty, 30 for a heavy.
Mr Mags Schp is 45 minutes but we were requested for the camper. Hp did not call next on rotation till we were on scene. Thanks for watching and stay safe
@@SumterWrecker love your videos. My heavy is very similar to your kirby. Think its a challenger/ncr hybrid. Has the wheellift that is detatchable but hangs from the boom. Hopefully our 2042 is out of the repair and paint shop soon.
campers are not much more than cardboard boxes on wheels, i know, i own one too. just think, in some states you are allowed to travel inside a travel trailer! one thing you guys should be aware of, some trailers now have high capacity battery systems that are hooked up to an inverter supplying the entire trailer with 120 volts ac power even while on the road. this could pose a risk to your workers during a salvege operation. be careful
You definitely need to make sure your well insured with no get out clauses, which they love to use, even worth taking gap insurance out as well, if they fall apart so easily.
Mr. Hal, Gary in Hartsville here. I tow a 30' airstream so a little bit of experience towing but from the scene that you arrived to neither rig still had safety chains attached to respective tow vehicles. Did the camper and its tow vehicle roll over but it was able to be disconnected before arrival? Just curious about safety chain conditions and any details. A big mess and Sumter wrecker comes thru again. Gary
@@SumterWrecker Mr. Hal, Thanks. I keep an eye on trailer connections and too many safety chains are damaged from dragging, incorrect attachments (like looping them over the ball) and using unrated hooks or chains. My rig has 3/8" grade 70 chains, setup to never drag. Thanks, Gary
How did the accident happen? Was the RV hit from the rear? I was concerned that maybe his RV bumper was overloaded with that Honda Generator strapped to it. The bumper was definitely curled under.
That looked like a tough one. Was the food trailer hooked to the camper, or was there two tow vehicles one pulling different trailer/camper? Great video. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
The way that camper exploded makes u wonder how fast he was going, and far as saving anything their , be money ahead collecting the insurance if he had any.
Mr. Hal i needed to turn down the volume brrrr brrrr brrrrr brrrr chirping sound was to much...lol Your to patience letting the RO run around your recovery site picking on stuff.
Sad how flimsy these new campers are. The structure wasn't really broken it more just fell apart. Definitely dont buy ultra lights, they seem to be held with bubble gum and staples.
This shows you how poorly this RV's are manufactured. Even fully enclosed RV Motorhomes, they will fold like a deck of cards in a wreck. Best to get a School Bus or Motor Coach to refurbished for traveling or camping.
Ya'll could've loaded the damaged camper yourselves iffin ya'll'd've had one of those hay or trash buckets with the hydraulic pincher grapple fingers for your skid-steer loader. Great job with all of it!
If that was my camper id by crying just watching you crush it up and put it into a waste bin.... but on the good side of it.. everyone survived and they were able to salvage a few items to help. I hope the people got some of the clothes and other belongings out... it just shows how pathetically these things are made.. no structure just a base and thin sides tacked ontop. I hope they were able to get the batteries and other larger items out before it was crushed and put into the bin also.....What was the beeping noise.. ??
It would seem to me that first on site gets to decide what they prefer to haul, and if possible to haul everything, just didn’t seem like a fair decision to me, Johnny come lately should have the tougher job, or not at all if company one is capable of doing the complete job. I have a pretty good idea why law enforcement does what he did, kind of an unspoken topic, but pretty well understood.
