I am a bass addict. Even when I listen to classical, I need to feel the bass of the strings and the sustained vibrations which makes it for a true live experience! So Mammoth is for me.
The Mammoth is great for pop (bass light tracks) and EDM/techno music. My only complaint is that treble is rolled off quite drastically to the point it sounds too dark for normal music because high frequency details are lost and you loose the airiness that comes with it. It's a very thick and dense sound but the bass is truly epic. So it's a bit of a compromise. I would have preferred that they left the treble at neutral instead of cutting it back by so much.
@@AudiophileHeaven I've put it on sale as I've gotten the Xenns Up which is also very bassy but left the treble at neutral which is much more pleasing along with the thumping bass.
Mammoth is extremely thick and heavy, with a smooth treble, that also has some roll off. For Rock and Metal, Mammoth has a slower impulse response rate, which causes it to sound slow, and will work if you want a fatigue-free experience, but won't work well if you want a snappier, brighter experience like you get with most live music.
@@malthus101 Currently, Unique Melody Maven PRO, HIFIMAN Svanar, FiR Audio NE4 Each of them has its own comfort and sound, if I had to pick sonically and comfort, I currently like Svanar the most, but you can't change the default cable easily which is not so great since they only come with single ended cable
It's good to know what you prefer. I done an experiment, here in Romania. Took a couple of friends and give them te chance to listen to both. Some preferred Holocene some preferred Mammoth, so it's good to know what you prefer
