Glad you like them! Thanks for the nice comment. I am trying to get myself out there making videos again and it helps to see good comments on here. Acadia never gets old.
Wow! I wish I’d seen this before reserving a spot at Blackwood for July 4 week this year! Beautiful waterfront locations! Are there any waterfronts that would allow a vehicle? I rely mainly on a truck tent.
That particular campground may be closed down now but I'd recommend the official Acadia campgrounds, which have just opened their reservations for this season. Blackwoods Campground is probably the best since it is closest to the phenomenal ocean coast.
Wonderful video! I just experienced Acadia National Park for the first time 2 weeks ago. I have a travel trailer that is too big for Mt. dessert campground. I want to go back and camp in a tent like you did.
I visited the park five years ago before my first son was born. It is a magnificent park and I had a great time. (I also enjoyed my lobster meals.) Need to take my kids there. Thanks for reminding me of my life BC (before children). Speaking of which, I did enjoy your old videos coaching tennis to children. Do you not do that anymore?
I currently coach at a private school and have no students with whom to make tennis videos. My own kids have moved on to other endeavors. I'd love to make more tennis videos if the circumstances change.
Milliard Folding Mattress with Washable Cover. I bought it in 2019 on Amazon for something over 100 bucks can't recall exact price. My mom bought two for her camper van. I bought an extra cover to carry another big sleeping bag. I but twin fitted sheets at Walmart to keep it covered. Very comfortable.
Rachel Whelton looks like a place I would like to visit sometime.. been wanted to come out that way sometime! I am in Oregon! Thx for the great post! 😁
There is no rule that you have to sleep on the platform but usually people choose to do so because your tent stays dry at the base. To secure the corners, I wedged the tent pole ends in between the deck slats. It wasn't perfect but it stayed in place. Usually sites have more space but this particular site didn't have room for the tent except on the platform.
Site A11+, which did have a water view but also had a walk from the car. Too much carrying of stuff back and forth. Mount Desert Campground has a map and all the purple squares are waterfront platforms. Most of them let you park your car right next to your site, which I think is better.
I tried a headband that had built-in headphones that lay flat. I got a white noise app to play on it. It was better than nothing but not a total cure because you wake up sometimes because it is different than your normal sleeping arrangement. So far the only good thing I've found is camping next to a river. My husband uses small foam ear plugs and he says that works for him; but for me they weren't so great because I could still hear snoring.
I bought an annual pass so I plan to go a couple times hopefully. I was just up there for the milky way video and that particular campground was all closed up. I wonder if it is for sale or just temporarily closed due to winter/covid. Maybe next time I will check out a new camping area.
Really enjoyed your footage and stills. Was just at Acadia Sept. 2019. Camped in the Park. Had a great time shooting stills & video. Your video made me smile so many times. Thanks Stay well
