Today I discuss my adventures solo camping in an abandoned insane asylum in the middle of the winter, deep in Northern Ontario. This is the second installment on my commentary covering the ALONE series on my channel. Being in the middle of a Canadian winter, the asylum was surrounded by snow and temperatures quickly dropped below freezing when night arrived. Confronted by the cold winter storm I'm thrown into survival mode with a night I will never forget.

It’s a great series, and the commentary is a great accompaniment, sometimes it’s almost more interesting than the video itself (always felt that way about Dan’s cutting room floor videos too), keep it up!

One of the main reasons why it was converted to an insane asylum was because back then, the treatment available was under sub par, and the T B infected the patients brains so badly, it caused hysteria. Louise psychiatric hospital in Wayne County Michigan opened during the Civil War, as a hospital to treat soldiers a TB patients. It then became an asylum.

I just want to comment about the comment on your 1st commentary episode. The mama in me came out! I got 4 boys. If they ever were doing this cause someone told them to do it "alone" I would've found something to whoop his ass with! Lol! No but really it was very unnerving to watch you when you were in the tunnels. Now that I know you survived, I'm so glad. I really don't know how you do these videos so cold!! But I'm watching this chewing on my nails!! Be safe and Be aware of everything always!! Love these videos so much!!

Hey man, not sure if you will see this or not buuuuut I wanted to say that I absolutely love the Alone series. You have a ton more guts and bigger balls than I do for sure. I don’t think people really understand the extent of the risk you are taking when you go into these Alone situations. While I do enjoy the concept, I’d almost prefer if someone else was with you for safety sake. Anyway buddy, always carry some sort of protection and stay safe out there. You are an amazing film maker and I look forward to seeing your future work. 💯

16:11 So about your bit about TB and if bright colours and lights help, heliotherapy is good for those with TB but its not a cure at all. There is a correlation between using warm colours and sunlight with mental health, which Im sure doctors back then saw as like a positive. TB use to be a death sentence, any thing to boost morale was needed. It was the resting part of heliotherapy that helped. TB needs oxygen and sitting out in the sunlight and in the fresh air was good cause they were moving around or doing strenous activities. Obviously its not as used now because we actually have antibiotics to treat TB, but the Trudeau approach to TB (which is the sanatoriums and all associated with it) did have merit and definitely saved lives.

Hey Brennan. I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed this out but at approximately 19:41 there's an orb that manifests from the floor of the room and turns in-front of your camera. I slowed it down to 0.25 speed and it doesn't look like an insect.
